A super trendy 2 bedroom penthouse apartment in the fantastic Stoke Newington area. The apartment benefits from a large living room, great sized bedrooms and a modern bathroom and kitchen as well as a balcony and beautiful communal gardens. This apartment makes staying in central London both affordable and pleasurable.

The beautifully furnished and well managed property is situated on the 6th floor of a purpose built apartment building. The flat has everything a holiday or business traveller may require and being only a 15 minutes into central London makes this apartment a truly superb place to spend your time when visiting our fantastic capital.

Sixth floor only. The property comprises a generous open plan living/dining area, a modern well-fitted kitchen, 2 large double bedrooms (the second double bedroom has a double bed and a single bed) and a modern family bathroom. The property also has a balcony and beautiful communal gardens. If wishing to have a 6th guest there is a very comfortable single air bed mattress.

FACILITIES AND SERVICES

Heating is via central heating. The fully-fitted modern kitchen is equipped with an electric oven and gas hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer and dishwasher. . There is a DVD player and TV WiFi is also available at the property. There is an iron & ironing board.

MISCELLANEOUS

Electricity, heating, bed linen and towels are all included. No animals are allowed at the property. Regrettably smoking is not allowed.

The flat was in a perfect location for us because we have many friends in the area. It's right on the corner of Clissold Park which is the best park in London (in my opinion!). The views are great - on one side sunsets over the Castle (a Victorian waterworks now a climbing centre) and the trees of the park on the other side. The flat is thoughtfully and generously furnished and decorated - not just the minimum required which you get in so many self-catering rentals. It really is a lovely home. We'll definitely book again next time we're visiting London.

Location

Stoke Newington itself is steeped in history and culture stretching as far back as Anglo-Saxon Britain. However, Stoke Newington as we know it was established in the 18th century as a small hamlet and was engulfed as a major part of London in the 19th century. Stoke Newington, as with much of east London, was an area in decline and was traditionally associated with the working class and immigrant populations. However, over the past 20 years with the increase in demand for more affordable housing and with the artists, designers and technology companies moving to east London, the area has become one of the most desirable and trendy areas in London. Particularly over the past decade or so Stoke Newington has undergone major gentrification, as has neighbouring Newington Green, Canonbury and Dalston. Much of the gentrification of the area has been based around Church Street which is now home to many wonderful independent shops, pubs, bars and cafés.

Stoke Newington falls within the London Borough of Hackney. Hackney is a very diverse and multicultural district and one which has undergone massive regeneration in recent decades. Formerly known best as an area with social problems and high crime rate. However parts of Hackney are now extremely fashionable with a thriving arts scene in the south of the district for example.

Hackney will stage the main events during the 2012 London Summer Olympics, with many of the big events happening in the nearby Olympic Stadium, VeloPark, as well as the media building. This will be a hot spot for tourists and locals alike when the action starts.
