Conveniently situated in Pyla-sur-Mer, the property is in a safe and secluded area surrounded by pine trees in an elevated position, and yet only minutes from the white sand beaches and blue sea of the Bay of Arcachon. The area is very sophisticated and yet offers all the attractions a family of all age groups could wish for. The bustling town of Arcachon is 15 minutes drive away, with it's chic boutiques, bars, restaurants, casino and from where a short boat ride can be taken across the bay to Cap Ferrat, (tourist train ride, more bars, restaurants, boutiques, oyster shacks, surfing beaches on Atlantic side). Port Plaisance is a little further along with it's marina, (sailing, charters along the coast as far as San Sebastian, deep sea fishing and jet skiing available), and yet more bars and restaurants. Just 10 minutes along the coastal road from the villa lies Moulleu, a lively town with art galleries, boutiques, more bars and restaurants. Just past there is a stunning promenade with beach bars, thalassotherapy spa, tennis club with bistro where courts can be hired by the hour. 5 minutes inland from the villa, at La Teste, one can savour the famous bay oysters at the various picturesque shacks. There are night clubs and discos, yet with no rowdy behaviour. There are sailing schools and clubs for all levels. The Grand Dune du Pyla is just 3 minutes drive away, with it's boardwalk of cafes. The breathtaking view from the top, (particularly at sunset), is well worth the climb as it spans the whole of the bay . There is also a hang gliding school and club there. Carry on south along the forest lined coastal road to reach Biscarosse, (one of the best surfing beaches in Europe), only 20 minutes drive from villa and another lively beach town. The forest along the way hides picnic areas and sand dunes and discreet bars and restaurants and yet another amazing stretch of white sand beach. A little inland from Biscarosse is the lake, (there are several in the area), so big it looks like a bay. It boasts tropical style bars and restaurants, safe bathing for children with water play area, water skiing, speed boats and sailing. There is also a stable that does beach rides in the area. There is an adventure park, a zoo, and on 10 minutes from the villa a water slide park, kiddies park, donkey rides, and exhibition centres. Two more casinos and several discos and nightclubs. The area abounds with golf clubs and tennis courts and clubs. There is also an impressive bird sanctuary at La Teich, as well as the 'Island of birds' in the bay with it's distinctive 'cabanes', which can be reached on boat rides. If all of this were not enough, the very beautiful and historic Bordeaux and it's international airport is only 40 minutes drive. The chateaux with their wine tasting can also be accessed easily. More coastal towns such as Lacanau lie across the Bassin, as does the Medoc wine region. And not to forget that the area is perfect and safe for cycling; hire shops are in abundance. If one wanted, there is white sand beach all the way along the coast south to Spain, 180 km away.
When we arrived we were greeted and shown around by Michaela, the owner of the villa - everything was spotless and there was even a bowl of fruit in the kitchen and flowers in all the bedrooms! The pool was wonderfully warm and we had nice weather the entire duration of our stay - with the beach nearby, clubs, water sports and shops we were spoilt for choice with things to do! We had an unforgettable experience staying here
The villa is situated above the Bassin d'Arcachon in a wonderfully secluded and safe residential pine-forested area, (the scent of the pines and the sound of the sea and birds and little else, has a practically tranquillising effect)! And yet it is only a short stroll down to bars, restaurants, a discreet outdoor Moroccan style nightclub and a convenience store, (400 metres). The beach is just across the road, and The Grand Dune du Pyla is just 3 kilometres away and can be seen from the top balcony. The lively town of Moulleau is 5 minutes drive towards Arcachon, The wonderful promenade with beach bars and restaurants just beyond, (along with thalassotherapy spa and pool at The Novotel, tennis club with restaurant, indoor public pool, sailing school nearby). Just a little further along is the chic bayside town of Arcachon where boats can be taken to Cap ferrat, across the Bassin. There is a railway station there where trains can be taken to Bordeaux and all that it offers. Just beyond the town is Port Plaisance with it's marina, where boats of all descriptions can be chartered and jet skiis hired. 20 minutes south of the villa is biscarrosse, with it's famous surfing beach, and Biscarosse lake, (another day trip in itself).
The motorway to Bordeaux is only 5 minutes drive from the villa, (it takes 40 minutes to get to the airport and 50 the the centre of Bordeaux.
