An authentic Andalusian patio house which has been totally restored and modernised, whilst ensuring all the features and atmosphere of the house are retained. The house has original Arabic tiles throughout the ground floor rooms. A heated swimming pool 8m x 3m,surrounded by natural stone, has been built in the walled garden at the rear of the property ,ensuring the integrity of the patio and house, giving very little idea of any modernity upon entering the property, through fabulous Moorish gates.
There is a vaulted Majorcan style kitchen which leads to a vaulted dining room, seating 12 people, which opens on to the patio and a large, beamed and arched salon, which in turn leads to a atmospheric arched music/tv area. The ground floor also has a vaulted table tennis / games room, off the patio there is a fully equipped utility room/guest wash room.
The first floor has a 5 individually well appointed bedrooms with 4 en suite bathrooms, all bedrooms have antique beds and furnishings together with good quality bedding, linen and towels.
There is a well furnished roof terrace with stunning views to the coast.
The origins of the property date to the time of the 11th Century Arco De La Pastora which it overlooks, the house is situated within the medieval walls of the historic town. It is beautifully appointed with a tasteful mixture of antique and modern classics including Charles Eames,Mario Bellini,Ernest Race and Richard Rogers & B&B Italia together with vintage lighting, original Art,luxury bedding and fabrics .There is a music ,film and book library, games room , solar heated swimming pool and all the local amenities the town has to offer. This property should not be mistaken for the 'cliché styled' houses found in some popular ex pat villages,it has real not contrived charm. There is a open fire and marble heating throughout.
Air conditioning is not needed as the walls of the house are 1metre thick so the house remains cool in the summer and warm when heated in the winter.
Medina Sidonia is over 3000 years old and consists of narrow cobbled streets opening on to beautiful village squares, it is just over 20 minutes away by car from La Barrosa, voted best beach in Spain 2014 and several other of the best beaches in Europe, including the remarkable Roman settlement of Bolonia and the vast golden sands of Zahara De Los Atunes.
The unspoilt historic port of Cadiz is 30 minutes away as is the charming city of Jerez with its Flamenco,Horses and famous Sherries, Seville and Tarifa are just over 1 hour away as is Ronda.

Professional couple with three children ,we have a keen interest in architecture, art and design. We live in a original modernist house in Highgate north London, that we have restored to its minimalist origins.
We are very keen on authenticity and prefer to find furniture and objects at markets such as Portobello giving rise to eclectic interiors, rather than buy them from specialist stores.
We have a dog and have welcome pets.
Louise Crombie purchased this house in 2005
We have been visiting this area for 27 years and looking for a house there for over 10 years.
We looked at hundreds ,when we saw this house we brought it the same day as it had a courtyard and walled garden,it provided a opportunity to have a pool without compromising the integrity of the house and courtyard.
Atmosphere,ambience and charm.
The house is 1000 years old in parts and we have fully restored it whilst maintaining its character.
We had a truly great holiday in this beautiful moorish style house. Gorgeous objects of art, lovely books, games, music and DVD collection.
5 luxurious bedrooms with en suite bathrooms.
A great pool area and roof terrace.
Medina is a very Spanish hill top town with amazing views
The house is minutes from lots of lovely bars and restaurants
not at all touristy.
We would love to return.
Sensitively restored to a high standard that maintains its unique heritage and Moorish charm, this beautiful property makes a great base to explore the area – both Jerez and Cadiz are within easy reach. Medina Sidonia is steeped in history with a pretty little square that buzzes with activity at night; there are good local restaurants, and the nearest beach is about 40 mins away so you really do get the best of both worlds. The stylish house is well equipped with modern comforts, furnished to a very high standard, and has a lovely little rooftop terrace where you can sit and watch the sun set. We liked.
We have just returned from a glorious long weekend at 1 Plazuela de
la Pastora in the white hilltop town of Medina Sidonia in the heart of Andalucia.
Nothing can prepare you for the etherial beauty of this truly amazing house perched on a Spanish hilltop, and enhanced by incredible views.
This historic house centers around a stunning Morrocan courtyard out of
which flows a beautiful swimming pool which is half shaded and
surrounded by walled bourgainvillia. It consists of five ensuite
bedrooms, all with equisite views and decorated with a heady mix of
antique and art deco furniture. Walk downstairs and enjoy a beautiful
lounge packed full of a brilliant music and DVD library and open log
burning fire, a wonderful kitchen and dining room that seats about 100.
There is even a room with a fantastic ping pong table!
All in all, this is a truly unique house of dreams - stunningly located
and accesorised, and yet with every modern convenience that you would
ever need for the perfect holiday. Pure unadorned luxury and total
escape. I have never stayed in such a beautiful place and cannot wait
Best week's break ever, fresh tapas, smooth local Rioja, memorable lunch overlooking the long long beach at El Palmar, then strolling for hours - gilded in afternoon sunshine, barefoot in the surf. Vast landscapes of National Park, wild beaches, great for bird spotting.
House like a riad, enclosed, cool, restored and furnished beautifully. My bedroom had amazing hanging light – all the antique beds are SO comfy. Great showers, discreet and private pool half shaded – as is the central courtyard, great for a gathering of friends.
AND with rooftop terrace for literally breathtaking view. Watch the sunset. Five stars.
We spent a week in this wonderful house in Medina Sidonia. The owners have created the most amazing case with everything you could wish for. The courtyard has been beautifully planted with lots of areas to sit and relax in, whilst the views from the roof terrace were breathtaking.
We used Medina SIdonia as a base for visiting Cadiz, Jerez and Vejer but also enjoyed ourselves in the many tapas bars in Medina SIdonia, watching all the activity in the plaza. A terrific week, in a very stylish and unique house. Would definitely recommend this property.
We are a family of five and stayed in this beautiful house this summer.
'Plazuela de la Pastoria' is a truly enchanting house. A real treat for lovers of interiors, a great mix of original features and furniture. The pool is beautiful, it was so lovely to come back from a day out and swim in the afternoon and evening (there are flood lights). All the bedrooms are a good size, each with its own individual character, with four ensuites again beautifully restored.
The position is great, we could just walk into Medina, which comes alive at night, a lovely friendly town, local shops, supermarkets and bars all a short walk away. We felt we had the best of both worlds, its rare you find a house with a pool, beautiful views from the roof terrace, all within walking distance of the town centre. We spent many evenings on the roof terrace, watching the most incredible sunsets, the light at dusk is amazing here, a real feast for budding photographers!
The house is extremely well equipped and clean. We have stayed in many holiday homes in Europe, this one takes 'Top Spot'. The owners are delightful and very helpful with information on the surrounding area.
A historic town set on a hilltop surrounded by rolling hills 12 miles from the coast, and 6 miles from the Acornacales natural park.
The town provides superb access to Cadiz, Jerez, Seville and a number of outstanding unspoilt Atlantic beaches.
