Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Estellencs - Casa de Abuelos

Beautifully Renovated 3 Bedroom Village House

'Casa de Abuelos' has been in our family for five generations and holds many happy memories for us. An ideal retreat, our house features beautifully traditional interior decor and has just been lovingly restored in the authentic Mallorquin style with original wooden beams, real terracotta floors and a mix of contemporary and antique furniture. We have furnished the house to a very high standard, including all modern facilities and appliances.

Although the house sleeps up to 6 people and a baby (in 3 large bedrooms, 2 of which are doubles and a third with two single beds and a cot), in our opinion the ideal number of guests to get the best from the house is 4. There is a lovely, fully equipped kitchen and separate utility room, a comfortable and informal dining area and inviting living room with a wood burning stove, TV and DVD player. There is one bathroom on the first floor and off the master bedroom there is a pretty terrace overlooking the town square and mountains beyond with room enough for a table and a couple of chairs, perfect for a romantic dinner for two. In front of the house there is also space for al fresco dining.

All linen and towels (not including beach towels) are provided and there are oil filled radiators and fans on each floor. There is a washing machine, dishwasher and microwave in the utility room. The bathroom has a large shower and there is plenty of hot water. We have a small library of Spanish and English books, boardgames and there is free wifi available in the beautiful terrace cafe over the road.

About Grace Alemany

I'm a Mallorcan / Brit who grew up in Mallorca and visited my grandparents in this house in Estellencs every weekend of the year.

Grace Alemany purchased this house in 1900

Why Grace Alemany chose Calvia - Andratx Region

Its been in my family for 5 generations... possibly longer. Its a beautiful village with a friendly community and a slow, rural pace of life... unless it's fiesta time!

What makes this house unique

Sitting right in the heart of the village, my grandparent's house put you in the centre of whatever action there might be. Restaurants on the doorstep, there's nothing better that sitting out all evening with a bottle of wine and watching the world go by.

In the house, I love the top bedrooms with their original wonky beamed ceilings and low windows. For decades, the room that's now the twin bedroom was my grandmother's larder, always with big bunches of fresh tomatoes, drying herbs and hunks of sobrassada hanging from the beams.

Beautifully renovated house in quiet, atmospheric old village between sea and mountains

  • 5 of 5

Four of us stayed in this old village house which has been restored with care and taste. The beds are comfortable and it is well-equipped. None of us had visited Mallorca before and spending time here in Estellencs, in such a breathtakingly beautiful landscape, could not have been a nicer introduction. A good place from which to make day trips – exploring more of the Serra de Tramuntana – and a world away from the overdeveloped south coast. We never tired of the last few kilometres along the coast road in either direction. Several nice eating out possibilities in the village, though you need to buy provisions for self-catering in a larger place.

So beautiful and so comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We loved everything about our stay at Casa de Abuelos. Its a really beautiful little house (with very comfy beds!) sitting just on the edge of the square, next to a lovely little restaurant.

The house had everything we needed, was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. A great mix of antiques and modern furniture. Grace, the owner, has done a fantastic job. There's even a wood-burning stove that makes me want to go back in winter.

Estellencs village is stunning... love Montimar restaurant and Sa Tanca bar but taking in the views over the sea at sunset from Val Hermos, cold beer in hand, can't be beaten.

Its a short walk down to the sea and a little beach with a natural waterfall / shower and there's even a tiny beach bar down on the rocks. Other than ourselves, not a tourist in sight!

Definitely rebooking this house for next summer.

Great house on a lovely island

  • 4 of 5

This was our first visit to Mallorca and it appeared to be a very nicel island with wonderful nature, great restaurants and bars and friendly people. The house is situated in Estellencs which is a lovely small town in the mountain area. The house is well equipped and nicely decorated. Everything was as agreed and expected. The cards with places to visit were very useful and we used them a lot. We had a great stay and we do recommend this house.

Lovely rustic home

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at this lovely property. The house was clean ,tastefully decorated throughout. The kitchen was well equipped.on the ground floor. Cosy sitting room with woodburner. Our bedroom had a little balcony to sit out on an evening. Centrally located in the village for the restaurants and lovely cafe across the road. Local info available on handwritten cards in the house proved very useful.Would recommend to family and friends .

Perfect spot to unwind and recharge the batteries!

  • 5 of 5

Although it has been a few weeks since we came back from Estellencs, the memory of our wonderful stay is still with me. The house exceeded my expectations and I felt instantly at home. We followed the owner's suggestions and bought fish at the local market in Port Andratx which we prepared in the kitchen, using proper paella pans (!) and then ate on the balcony looking out over the village. It was glorious and the perfect way to end our days at the beach, which was in easy pottering distance of the house. We also made the most of the local bar, which had a beautiful terrace, perfectly positioned so that you can watch the sun set over the bay.

I can't recommend this place highly enough and will certainly be back in the Spring to explore the area better. Thank you so much!

Estellencs 'Calita'
Car: recommended

Situated in the foothills of Mount Galatzó in the UNESCO World Heritage Tramuntana mountains, the predominantly stone built village clusters around the picturesque town square and 17th Century church. Surrounded by pine forests and olive groves, the area is world renowned for walking, hiking and cycling but village life has remained remarkably untouched by tourism. Estellencs boasts 5 family run restaurants and 3 bars as well as a small convenience store and local vineyard which is open to visitors. A breathtakingly beautiful 45 minute drive from Palma centre along the mountainous coastline, the village has its own ‘calita’ – a lovely secluded pebble beach with crystal clear water and a little local bar. It is possible to do day trips along the coast visiting many of the island’s other stunning villages, including Valldemossa, Deia and Soller. Towards Andratx, many of the sandy beaches offer watersports and sailing facilities as well as an impressive selection of restaurants, cafés and shops.
