Hoedspruit Eastgate is the nearest airport and is approximately 35 km away. From Hoedspruit to the south on the R40, follow the signs.
You can rent a car at this airport or in Hoedspruit itself.
Hoedspruit is a town and is about 25 km to the south on the R40 and has various stores such as supermarkets (Pick n Pay, Spar) clothing stores, galleries, gas stations, hardware stores. Also don't forget Kamogelo; a center with tourist shops, galleries and restaurants. You are also at the right address for photo items.
The closest gas station is about 10 km north on the N40 in the direction of Phalaborwa and is called: Sameys. You will also find a shop with the first necessities of life here.
Kruger National Park. https: // www. sanparks. org
Our cottage is in the vicinity of two entrances to this beautiful game park: Phalaborwa about 40 minutes drive and Orpen 60 minutes. You can make trips with your own (rental) car. It is also possible to book guided safaris. Do that in advance.
Good restaurants in the area are: Three Bridges less than 10 minutes' drive away, Hat and Creek and Sleepers in Hoedspruit, The Thirsty Giraffe 5 km before Hoedspruit (a donkey can appear at the table). A bit further away are 24 Degrees South, a garden restaurant (also seats inside) with a number of tourist shops and even an exhibition of classic cars and motorbikes. Blue Mountain is a restaurant on Blyde Wildlife Estate and has beautiful mountain views.
Talking about views; Mariepskop is a viewpoint at almost 2000 meters near Klaserie. In clear weather you have fantastic views, but you must have access to a car with sufficient ground clearance because the road to it is, uh ... quite rough. With a normal passenger car: don't. https: // hat sprout. net / tours / mariepskop-mountain-view-point /
The Panorama route: is worth a day trip. A touristic highlight of South Africa with views of the Blyde River and the 3 Rondavels and tourist attractions such as Burke's Luck Potholes and God’s windows. The old gold digger town of Pelgrim’s Rest can then also be visited. info: https: // homesofafrica. com / en / south africa / panorama route /
A boat trip on the Blyde river is definitely worth it. Here you see the three Rondavels from a different point of view, from below. (reservation required) https: // blydecanyon. activitar. com / services / 846)
Hoedspruit Endangered Species Center (on the N40 south of Hoedspruit) and Moholoholo Rehabilitation Center (towards Kampersrus) are centers where people focus on the protection of wildlife: shelter and, if possible, relocation to nature. Excursions are organized here. https: // hesc. co. Sat / and www. moholoholo. co. Sat /
Jessica de Hippo, nowhere do you get so close to a hippo living in nature. She is free to go wherever she wants but "tame" in the sense that she allows herself to be fed and stroked under supervision. On the way back, take a look at the large Baobab tree that is being referred to. http: // www. jessicahippo. com /
Kinyonga reptile center, if you like snakes. 15 km from Hoedspruit on the R527 https: // www. kinyonga. just/
There is a golf course in Hoedspruit: De Drakensig Golfbaan
On the first Saturday of the month there is a farmers market with fruit and vegetables, clothing, handicraft articles, food (snacks) and tourist items a few km south of Hoedspruit on the R40. (Bushveld Center.) Https: // www. Hoedspruit Farmers Market. co. Sat /
