The house is situated across from Gardenworks, a specialty crop farm & market place. Each season features farm produce, greenhouse crops, U-pick blueberries & raspberries in summer, acres of fall pumpkins and fall raspberries followed by Christmas trees & hand tied wreaths & trimmings. The farm market place offers local cheeses, vegetables & hand crafted gifts. The farm house was my family home for 3 generations and it continues to welcome folks who embrace country living surrounded by active farms, small villages and extensive recreational opportunities. You may explore the nearby quaint villages of Salem, Cambridge and Greenwich with their special shops, summer theater & restaurants. Saratoga Springs is 45 minutes away and offers history, ballet, performing arts, horse racing and many restaurants. Lake George is also a 45 minute drive and welcomes hikers, boaters, swimmers to the Adirondacks.

As hosts, we promise to have the farm house clean & sparkling with beds made and fresh towels out. There will be a bottle of local wine and local cheeses awaiting your arrival as well as ingredients for your first breakfast. We will be available to answer questions and share ideas about local events and farm activities which might be of interest.

We share the family farm house so that guests may enjoy the beauty of our agricultural valley as well as the fresh air and star-filled nights.

About Meg and Rob Southerland

We are outgoing, friendly people who love living in a beautiful agricultural area where Meg grew up. We returned to this area so our children could be close to grandparents and could experience country living. Now 25 years later, we embrace life on the farm and stay busy with Gardenworks, a 4-season business and marketplace.

Relaxing stay in the country! Amazing hosts!!

  • 5 of 5

Our family loved their time spent here. Great house to spread out. The hearth room with the wood stove was a favorite place to play games around the table. The kids enjoyed sledding and playing in the snow. A true taste of New England!

Meg and Rob were AMAZING hosts. Be sure to visit their lovely store across the street. They also shared breads, cheeses and wine during our stay. We have stayed in many places and we shall call this one of our favorites!

Beautiful and Friendly

  • 5 of 5

Four of us stayed for a weekend on our way up to Vermont from down south. The house is beautiful, well-appointed, and would easily accommodate many more comfortably. Meg and Rob provided wonderful hospitality (the cheese and wine was terrific) and could not have been more friendly and responsive.

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure to host Dan and his family at our farmhouse. We enjoyed some conversation about the Philadelphia area as we had lived there in the 1970's. The house was left in excellent condition and we would welcome a return visit. Thanks again for being our guests. Glad that the local wine and cheese was enjoyed! The area is known for beautiful farms, historic architecture, rolling hills and covered bridges. The scenic Battenkill provides opportunities for fly fishing, kayaking and swimming. Local theater, live concerts and wonderful museums add interests. Quaint antique shops, specialty stores, a notable creamery and great local breweries flavor this progressive agricultural area. Autumn is colorful with bright foliage and special weekend Cheese Tours and Fiber Festivals. Winter follows with great downhill and cross country skiing, hiking and reading by the fire.

Saratoga Springs is 40 minutes away and offers an array of summer concerts, ballet, racing and a myriad of interesting restaurants & museums.

The Lake George area is 40 minutes to the north with scenic steamboat cruises, swimming and boating along with a Six Flags Recreational Park, great hiking trails and many breweries & distilleries. Wonderful historic sites, Fort William Henry & Fort Ticonderoga, and museums including The Hyde Art Museum & The Chapman historical museum, add more interest all seasons.

Winter carnivals and skiing along with ice hockey create spectacular winter weekends.
