Great apartment in a lovely street (that has some good restaurants in it). Great communication with the management - one issue we had was swiftly resolved. Although it looks quite far out on the map, Bologna is compact and it is a nice walk into the centre. Suggested improvements: more seating and shade on the shared terrace, and would have liked a kettle!
Me, my husband and our two children (2 and 5 y/o) stayed at this apartment for our holiday. We found it to be a pleasant place and the staff had made a child-bed available for our youngest child.
The hotel is only a short walk from the town center, and our 5 year old could easily manage that stint. At the same time the apartment we had rented was quiet and we never felt that we were annoying anyone, despite our noisy kids.
On top of the garage, there is courtyard in which the children enjoyed chasing soap bubbles.
There are a lot of lovely places to eat nearby the hotel. Unfortunately, the restaurants are typically only open from 12.30 – 15.00 and again at 19.30 – midnight. This doesn’t resonate so well with neither Danish stomachs nor young children’s bedtimes (the youngest usually naps from 12.00 to 14.00 and we usually have dinner at around 17.30 + the kids go to bed at 19.30).
Fortunately, the apartment comes with a kitchen, so most nights we either cooked our own dinner or just made do with sandwiches in the evening, after having had a hot meal for lunch (which is weird to us).
We also found a few places nearby, that serves takeaway for a easy dinner.
Bologna has a lot of historical buildings and a lovely park (Giardina Magherita), where the kids could play on the playgrounds.
However, we primarily used Bologna as a stepping stone to visit surrounding cities and locales. We had the use of a rental car and visited Rimini, Modena, the mountains to the south of Bologna, and Ferarra.
It should be noted, that the Italian traffic is a beast not easily tamed, so only consider renting a car if you are a seasoned driver. And it is worth mentioning, that the reason Fiat makes small cars such as the Panda is that a lot of city streets can be narrow – so don’t rent a big car, and instead try to minimize your luggage needs.
On that mention, it is worth noticing, that the hotel has washing machines readily available, so you don’t need to pack clothes for every single day.
Within the historic centre of Bologna; quiet but easy walking distance from the city shops and tourist sites. Very close indeed to corner shops; to Osteria Broccaindosso a delightful restaurant on the same street; Spacca Napoli for pizza and great puddings too if you have room; Piazza Androvandi for lovely little food stalls and shops - bread, fish, fruit, cheese etc.
30 minutes walk from the train station, we had days out in Venice, Verona, Florence. Don't miss the Giardini Margherita where you can feed the turtles in the pond. We also got some great bargains in the market in Piazza VIII Agosto.
The apartment itself was comfortable and clean, and the reception and cleaning staff friendly and helpful. The perfect place to relax after a busy day soaking up the atmosphere in Bologna or sight-seeing further afield.
The 'apartments are located in one of the most characteristic streets of the historic center, a short walk from the Two Towers, Piazza Maggiore, the Museum dell'Archiginnasio, the Basilica of San Petronio ...
Also Via Broccaindosso is famous for being the way of the best restaurants in the city is specialized in meat and fish.
A few steps away are the typical markets and shopping streets with the most prestigious brands.
