Why Ninalin & Ilona chose Modica
The 3 rules about real estate are location, location, location, this villa is strategically located just a scant mile away from the city centre of the Medieval baroque city of Modica famous for an extraordinary and unique product , the famous chocolate of Modica, produced with an ancient and original Aztec recipe.,from the villa you can see the panoramic view of the city resting on the hill, it has the feel of a nativity scenery, just looking out of the front door it takes the breath away. The city is renowned for its rich culinary tradition offering an amazing variety of seasonal dishes that follow the sicilian traditions. Sweet and savoury dishes, summer and winter food are on offer for a real taste of the county.Stroll around the warren of baroque and medieval streets at the base of the gorge that this city is built on to find unique family run shops and cafes. Most restaurants here are run from home style kitchens so you can be sure you are getting an authentic taste of the region. As locals often say “we are in paradiso',its just a lovely place to grow up and live..'
What makes this Villa unique
Discover the secrets of the garden and its curious inhabitants, collect vegetables, fruits and herbs from the garden and discover the flavors of tradition; those are some of the activities that our little ones can experience being in contact with nature! The opportunity for children to perform daily choirs on the happy farm, we aim in creating a suitable environment for children's physical and psychological needs, which allows to expand the possibility of "practical life activities" (care of the environment, of self and others). Those are activities that arise from real hands on experience and to develop knowledge of how wonders of nature work, they allow you to "absorb the surrounding environment" and to elaborate it "according to their level of experience"; to experiment and test its own skills, to take possession of themselves and learn with hands on. This is how your child through the "activities of daily living" on the farm learns about himself/herself, and the way to be with others and nature. "What the child learns must fascinate him/her, we must give them great things: to start with offer them the world." Maria Montessori Our Villa is close to everything- EU blue flag beaches, shopping, restaurants, nightlife, winery, beautiful countryside. A beautiful 12m x 6m solar heated, salt water pool on-site for renters use only. The solar heating will bring the pool water temperature 5 degrees above normal. The villa offers peace and tranquility with just a distant noise of cow bells or the church bells only a scant mile away. Wide open skies with no tall buildings or hotels to block the views. No ambient light in the evenings which allows for a truly spectacular view of the milky way at night and in the summer shooting stars can be seen from the pool's deck. Located in a country peaceful setting.

A genuine pleasure
Villa Modica was an absolute treat from the moment we arrived. From all the goodies left for us by George and Nina to our last day when the children helped collect fresh eggs from the chickens. We had a wonderful week and thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Sicily. Our hosts couldn't have been more welcoming, while respecting our privacy at the same time. The space itself is a great size, especially with the pool, tennis courts and Zeus the donkey! I would highly recommend. Thanks George and Nina.
Fantastic villa with all the facilities you could want for a family break and a wonderful host.
We had a brilliant time at the villa which we stayed in with our two children, another family and their baby and our nanny and her boyfriend. The villa and its external facilities were more than big enough to absorb us all without ever feeling cramped. The pictures show the villa as it is; certainly not slick and modern but very comfortable and with everything you might expect and need to make your holiday run smoothly (plus extras) . Externally the grounds, landscaping and facilities are fabulous. The pool is delightful and the tennis court is fantastic. The situation is rural and requires a car but is the shortest of drives from Modica with all its charm and amenities. Perhaps the greatest asset of the property is the owner George who could not possibly have been more helpful and welcoming, from the moment of booking. He always managed to achieve this without being intrusive or overbearing. He helped us in arranging outings, taxis and take aways and a chef to come and cook several delicious evening meals for us. His assistance really was invaluable. We would highly recommend this villa.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in September 2018. Lovely property in a good location.
Great property, well maintained and all facilities you could possibly need. It was lovely to arrive to a welcoming and delicious home cooked lasagne - how nice not to have to cook on our first night. Some basic provisions were provided which also meant there was no need to shop on the way.
George was always on hand to help if needed, but without being intrusive, introducing us to the family at the local supermarket, showing us the best place for breakfast and even ordering pizzas!
The villa is well placed to explore the many towns in the south east of the island, but also not too far away to explore Mount Etna and the also the larger towns in the north east such as Taormina (well worth the drive).
The fresh pomegranates, picked directly from the tree by the pool were delicious!
We would highly recommend this villa.
Dear Martin we want to thank you for having stayed at our villa, it was a pleasure meeting you and your family and friends, glad you enjoyed our villa, you are most welcome to return anytime, we will welcome you with open arms, like family, wish you a good health.
George & family.

The gelateria Dolce Arte a must go (10mins from the villa) superb gelato and cornetti inside a recently constructed modern architectural building that complements the landscape.

Dear Charles we enjoyed having you at our villa, we are very happy that your holiday at our villa exceeded your expectations , we try hard to make our guests stay a unique villa rental experience, we look forward to welcome here again.
We enjoyed every minute of our three week stay.
The villa is very comfortable, with spacious bedrooms, and a very well-equipped kitchen. There is excellent wifi. A folder in the lounge has detailed information on the area and activities that can be arranged. The villa has outside terraces on which you can always choose whether to sit in sun or shade, with lovely views and an excellent pool set in a delightful garden. The villa and its garden are large enough for people to socialise if they wish or to find a quiet place to read undisturbed. It is a very peaceful and relaxing place to stay.
It is a short drive to Modica, with easy parking. We spent several days exploring its picturesque streets, fine churches and welcoming cafés and restaurants. Modica is a great base for visiting the UNESCO World Heritage (and Montalbano) towns of Ragusa, Scicli and Noto. All of these are in very easy reach, while a longer day out would take you to the stunning sites of Villa Romana del Casale at Piazza Armerina, Siracusa, Ortigia and the ceramics at Caltagirone. There are also many wonderful beaches within easy reach.
We thoroughly enjoyed the activities which Giorgio arranged for us. The visit to a ricotta farm was delightful, seeing the process, eating a hearty lunch with wine, followed by a short walk to see the local crops and animals.
At the Fair Trade chocolate laboratory, we not only enjoyed tasting the product but also found the explanation of the Foundation’s aims and methods very inspiring.
The visit to the local winery was very well presented, offering us tastings of each of their wines, accompanied by delicious snacks. We were also given fascinating information about the production of both still wines and spumante.
Giorgio was also very helpful in recommending excellent local restaurants.
On each of our three weeks, a highlight was the evening when Maria and Anna cooked a delicious three course dinner for us. We enjoyed watching the preparation almost as much as eating the results.
Giorgio is a very knowledgeable and helpful host. We thoroughly recommend Villa Modica.
Peter and Felicity
Dear Peter & Felicity, from the moment we met at the airport i knew that you are very special people, we enjoyed talking , drinking a few glasses of wine and mostly i was surprised of your curiosity for our culture and Sicily, and your knowledge of the Italian language..bravissima, you both are a fantastic couple.
Thank you for your lovely review.
Beautiful setting, comfy, gracious host
We had a wonderful time at Giorgio's villa and would stay there again in a heartbeat. The town of Modica is a lovely town worthy of many hours of ambling, ogling and general chilling. From here, we were able to take day trips to Siracusa, Mt. Etna, Ragusa, Noto and a number of other gorgeous locales. As for the villa itself, the grounds were gorgeous, set on a hillside overlooking a valley and the hills beyond. Giorgio has a real eye for beauty and the property is landscaped with flowers galore, as well as a lovely pool, a petting zoo (Giorgio has a soft spot for homeless donkeys, goats, peacocks and other fowl, dogs and perhaps even a stray giraffe or two -- great for kids!). The accommodations were spacious and well-equipped. We were a group of 12 and everyone seemed to have comfortable beds, air conditioning when we needed it, private or semi-private bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and a couple of patios for eating out and generally lounging. But the biggest attraction was Giorgio, our host, who lives inconspicuously on the property with his family. Giorgio made himself available to drive us places; he made suggestions about where to go and when best to go there; he introduced us to friends who ran local restaurants and stores; he gave us tours of farms and wineries he either owned or did business with (it wasn't always clear, as everybody seemed to be family with Giorgio); two of his friends gave us a cooking class which resulted in a spectacular dinner; and he and friends even serenaded us all with a poolside concert one evening. While he was an incredibly gracious and helpful host, always available whenever we needed his assistance, Giorgio was very respectful of our privacy and his presence was never intrusive. I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in a stay in southern Sicily.
Dear Steven its so nice of you to write this review , we loved your company and enjoyed all the other guests company that stayed with you at the villa, it makes us feel great to hear that you truly loved our villa, we look forward to see you here again in the future.
