My friends and I recently stay at Villa Sara and had an amazing time. The house is great at exceeding our expectations and needs. It is located walking distance to the beach, shops and restaurants. The rooms are nice size and have balcony. The host is absolutely wonderful and friendly. He left some drinks in the fridge for us, which we find it very nice from his side.
We warmly recommand the place and we would love to come back one day!
A stunning property with wonderful pool area & beautiful views. We are a family of 7 & there was so much space. The property is spotless & has everything you need. The owner was incredibly helpful & kind. He left fruit, water and all sorts of lovely things for us to enjoy! And he also happily bought groceries in for us for our first night as we were arriving late. The village is most interesting and the nearby beach is just lovely! We would recommend this accomodation to anyone! We have had a delightful holiday!
Excellent holiday in a great villa.
We have just returned from this lovely property and were very impressed. The location was great, very quiet and just a 10 minute walk into the local town which had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Thanks again for the late checkout!!
Oasis near Palermo
The house was absolutely stunning. It looks better in person and is right next to the beach. The host answered texts within minutes and answered all of the questions about the island. I cannot wait to return.
Beautiful Home in an Outstanding Location
I loved this home. I would certainly return. It was pefect. It was a great spot for four friends. We each had our own bedroom. This home is immaculate. The pool was beautiful. The home is close to the beach. It was a great spot for side trips to Palermo, Trefani and more. I highly recommend.
Sun set every night
The pictures do not do the home justice, as the home is more spacious and the view from the top floor is amazing and you are able to view a sea sunset every night.
The place is well located and is only 20 mins from the airport, and 20 mins from Palermo. We arrived late but that was not a problem as Walter was flexible about meeting us at that time. There was plenty of drinks in the fridge, water, soft drinks and a bit more waiting for us. Wifi service was very good.
The 'village' had plenty of small shops to buy provisions and restaurants to enjoy a nice meal out.
Walter was an excellent host and let us leave late in the evening on the day of our check out as our return flight was a late departure.
I would recommend this home as a means of discovering North West Sicily.
Villa Sara is located in the center of the Gulf of Carini, the bay to the north-west of Palermo, between Capo Gallo and Punta Raisi and precisely in Isola delle Femmine, an ancient fishing village that takes its name from the island that stands right in front of it, today a protected regional nature reserve. The country, well equipped during the bathing season, is the ideal destination for tourists and vacationers thanks to its beautiful and extensive sandy beach and its rocky coastline with crystal clear sea. During the day you can relax while lying in the sun on the beach or having fun swimming, doing aqua aerobics, windsurfing, beach volleyball or simply walking along the coast. The town is also rich in night-time attractions: pubs, beach parties, shows in the square or by the sea and much more. The villa has a really great location, since it is only 10 minutes by car from Palermo, 15 minutes from the Falcone-Borsellino airport and a couple of kilometers from the motorway exit, so that you can spend a holiday at the same time of sea but also cultural if you want to visit the Sicilian capital and other interesting neighboring towns.
Isola delle Femmine is a charming seaside town. Today its rocky coasts, including the islet, are a protected area as a natural reserve. If you like diving or snorkeling, you can admire its colorful seabed, rich in particular species of plants and fish. In particular, the islet has a really interesting flora and fauna: here you can find rare plants such as dolphin and gladiolus, and birds of various species such as red herons, white herons and egrets, but above all the Mediterranean herring gull, of where the islet is a refuge.
Isola delle Femmine really has a good location, as from here you can easily reach other popular seaside resorts in a short time, such as San Vito Lo Capo, Scopello and the Zingaro Nature Reserve on the west side of Sicily, or even the medieval town of Cefalù, on the east side of Sicily.
FISHERIES AND TRADITIONS
Fishing is the most important activity in the country, so that the marina, the fish market and the fisherman's statue are its emblematic places. If you want to experience a traditional and fun activity that has lasted for centuries, you will have to go to the port at dawn and participate or simply attend the convivial auction of fish. The fishermen come from their hard work at night bringing lots of fresh fish, still alive, which will be offered to buyers with high-sounding voices, iterating a ritual that has lasted for centuries. In this way, in addition to participating in this ancient tradition, it will be possible to buy fresh fish at a very advantageous price!
Another important tradition that lasts over time is the fish festival. Some fishermen and dozens of volunteers set up some stands in the marina and offer to the bystanders different types of fish prepared according to traditional Sicilian recipes. This is the most tempting way to learn about local fish production, its flavors and smells will fascinate you. Definitely not to be missed! Usually this culinary event takes place at the end of August.
Palermo is a city of art, rich in history, architecture, culture and tradition. The oldest part of the city is full of tourist attractions: Piazza Politeama and the homonymous theater; the Teatro Massimo, the largest in Italy and the third in Europe; the Cathedral, the Royal Palace and its Palatine Chapel; the 4 Songs; the famous markets of Ballarò, Capo and Vucciria; the Puppet Museum, extremely important for our tradition; the botanical garden that houses many important species of plants.
Moreover, Palermo is full of hidden attractions! You can find them in the pitches, in the alleys and even underground !! Churches whose artistic value is priceless, ancient buildings with splendid architectural details, sanctuaries, statues, gardens, mysterious places such as the itinerary of the Beati Paoli or the ancient underground water passages called Qanat. You will definitely fall in love with it!
