18th Century three bedroom wing of a beautiful old farmhouse adjoining castle

This property sleeps 6 with three spacious bedrooms and a sofa bed in the living room. The whole interior has been renovated to a very high standard and features 3 bathrooms.

The accommodation is set near Crail in the picturesque East Neuk of Fife, with stunning views of the sea and Crail Golf Course and is a superb base for golfers, walkers or a family holiday.

The historic University town of St Andrews is just 20 minutes drive away and offers a variety of shops and restaurants, museums and cinema, not to mention the most famous St Andrews Links Golf Course. Other golf courses include Crail, Kingsbarns, Anstruther and Elie,

Ground floor:

Downstairs the living room has period features and a wood burning stove. There are 2 sofas, one of which is a sofa bed. Digital TV, DVD and WI-FI available. The new fully fitted kitchen with underfloor heating has a farmhouse feel with range cooker and Belfast sink. It also contains a dishwasher, microwave and fridge freezer. There is a separate utility room with washer/drier and walk-in cupboard under the stairs. The hall has a downstairs shower room including WC.

Upper floor:

The upstairs accommodation offers 3 spacious bedrooms that look out over fields and the sea. One is en-suite and there is a family bathroom. Each bedroom has a super king-size bed to create a double room, or the bed can be split to create a twin room.

What a beautiful place. Beautifully presented and host Carly was kind and thought.

Possibly the best accommodation we have ever stayed in. Great location for exploring as well as golf. The house is beautiful, clean and full of history but with all the mod cons. My wife fell in love with the house and the area. Don't forget to visit the secret garden. It is so beautiful. Carly was a great host. She insured we had everything we needed and even baked a cake on arrival and delivered fresh strawberries and blueberries. We couldn't have asked for more. Can't wait for our next visit, just hope it's not long away!!!

Wonderful, spacious farmhouse in a great location.

This was our second stay at Balcomie, and our stay was as memorable as our first. The house is light, bright and spacious, and really well equipped. We like to cook most evenings and found everything that we could need. All of the bedrooms are large and comfortable, and with 3 bathrooms in the property everyone had their own private space. The walk down to the beach took about 10 minutes, and our children loved the rock pools where we found lobsters, so many hermit crabs we lost count and so much more. We also walked into Crail (about 25 minutes walk) to sit and have fish and chips in the harbour. We would highly recommend Balcomie Farmhouse - the owners are welcoming, on hand and unobtrusive. We have always paid the owner directly and found this to be fuss free and secure.

Absolutely Perfect House!

We loved Balcomie. We've stayed in many houses in Fife and elsewhere in Scotland and this place is right at the top of our list. The location is fantastic. The farm is so beautiful, with amazing views. Our host Carly couldn't have been more welcoming. House is very comfortable with fully equipped kitchen and great space. We will definitely be coming back!

Great for kids, our 13 year old and her cousin spent most of the time playing outside. Lots of lovely walks nearby and many options for golf if you play. The town of Crail is really special, very historic, with a gorgeous harbor and several interesting shops, local produce available too. Anstruther, St. Monans etc very close by. Highly recommend!

Second visit to Balcomie and we were not disappointed. Excellent accommodation of a high standard and highly recommended. Carly and Pat very welcoming and our time at the house was ideal for a celebration.

Crail is one of several traditional fishing villages situated along the East Coast of Scotland. It has a rich history, some lovely buildings and winding streets full of character. Crail has one of the best known harbours in the East Neuk where (in season) lobster and crab are available. There are also cafes, pubs, a butcher/deli, grocery stores, a pottery, galleries with work from local artists, a museum and tourist information centre.

The nearby fishing villages offer a variety of attractions and activities. Anstruther, a busy holiday village has a marina, the Scottish Fisheries Museum and award winning fish and chips from the Anstruther Fish Bar. There are boat trips to the Isle of May, a nature reserve famous for its nesting puffins. Pittenweem is a working fishing village and home to a successful Summer Arts Festival. Elie has a wide sandy beach and offers a host of water sports. The Fife Coastal Path provides a fantastic route to explore the beaches around the East Neuk, whilst the cycle routes can take you inland to such attractions as Kellie Castle and Scotland's Secret Bunker.

This coastal area of the East Neuk is well served by restaurants and cafes from light lunches, high teas, evening meals, to special celebratory dinners and there are award winning restaurants for example in Anstruther and St Monans.

The nearby bustling university town of St Andrews, home to the famous Royal & Ancient Golf Course has much to offer and is just 20 minutes drive away. The interesting Castle and Abbey ruins show its significant importance in the area in the past, whilst now in modern times there is a good variety of individual shops, restaurants, cafes, botanical garden, and aquarium.

Further afield cities such as Edinburgh, Perth, Dundee and Stirling are within easy reach for day trips.
