380 year old newly renovated 76sqm Holiday House with amazing mountain views

A newly fully renovated 2 bedroom 380 year old farmhouse with views onto the famous Jungfrau mountain from all bedroom and living room windows.

It is situated in the quiet village of Matten on the outskirts of the main tourist resort of Interlaken.

The whole holiday house has central heating and is very well insulated to help keep warm in winter and cool in the summer.

The downstairs of the house is completely open plan containing a fully equiped modern kitchen adjacent to the large living/dining area.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms of very similar sizes both having a good size wardrobe and great views. Bedroom 2 has a roof gallery accessible via a sloped ladder.

Under the house is a large cellar to store bikes, skis or any other sport equipment.

Why Tracy Jay chose Eiger, Mönch & Jungfrau

Perfectly situated extremely close to the main tourist resorts of Interlaken and Matten but in a very quite residential location.

What makes this house unique

Great views, Quiet with the ability to access the whole Bernese Oberland within meters of the front door

Super clean with modern facilities, but classic Swiss from the outside. Tracy & Tony were very friendly & helpful and even called from Switzerland to UK to offer advice. They live next door and so literally are able to answer any problems (not that we had any at all).



Interlaken is very convenient for traveling but is a relatively busy town. The house location however is peaceful & quiet with very little traffic. The bus stop is round the corner and less than a minute away. Bus stop to either main train stations less than 10 mins. Supermarket is 1 min walk away, which is very handy indeed as Switzerland is very expensive to eat out!



The only criticism was that the apartment was lacking a TV/DVD player but why watch TV in such a beautiful part of Switzerland! Very, very highly recommended!

A 2 minute walk will take you to the local shops which includes a grocery, bakery and butcher. There are also a several pubs and restaurants all within 5 mins walking distance.

The nearest Bus stop is 50m which is frequently serviced getting you around the local area with ease. A short bus ride or walk will get you to the main rail station which gives you access to the whole of Switzerland but more importantly easy access to the mountains.

The whole area is perfect for all kinds of activities including Skiing, sledging, hiking, mountain Biking, climbing, canoeing to name just a few. Don't forget the two lakes for swimming and boat trips!

More locally there are two parks, indoor and outdoor swimming, wellness, gym, rope park, minigolf, ice-skating and more.

Perfect base for family holiday in the mountains

We had a fantastic family holiday staying in this property last month. The house is very comfortable and perfectly situated, with easy access to the outstandingly beautiful lakes and mountains. Matten doesn’t feel overly touristy and so we quickly felt part of the neighbourhood. We drove to Switzerland from the UK, but mainly used the excellent public transport when we got there, with the Swiss Half Pass proving good value. Thanks Tracy and Tony for your hospitality and the great activity suggestions, which ensured we all had an amazing week.

Perfect base for exploring

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful area. The house was very clean and the location was great for exploring the surrounding area. There is a supermarket 2 minutes walk from the house. The owners were very welcoming and provided us with lots of ideas of where to visit during our stay.

Lovely property

We really enjoyed our 10-day stay in Matten by Interlaken. Matten was quiet and coop for shopping around the corner and busy Interlaken and the train stations a 10 to 15 minute walk. Great location. The house was as described and everything worked well. Tracy was very friendly and easy to work with.

Lovely property in fantastic location

We had a fantastic week in Matten bei Interlaken - Tracy and Tony were excellent hosts - always available for a bit of advice or assistance, while giving us privacy to enjoy our holiday. The property is perfectly located on the bus routes, which link seamlessly to the trains, enabling us to get around this beautiful area without a car. The supermarket and bakery were a short walk, adding to the convenience. The property is well equipped and decorated to a high standard, making it a comfortable place to come back to at night after a day in the mountains. Thanks to Tracy and Tony for a great holiday.

Beautiful Comfortable Farmhouse, Nice location

The Swissdreams is very comfortable and very well equipped with all the facilities and home comforts you could wish for, a really 'home from home' property. Tracy and Tony are a lovely couple, helpful and welcoming, we were so pleased that we chose this property.

Kitchen has everything that you would expect in your own second home, we cooked almost everyday and never missed anything. Living room has a TV and lots of DVDs which kids loved (specially Big Barn Farm and Lazy Town). Both the bedrooms are good size and all the beds have very comfortable mattresses.

Swissdreams is situated in beautiful quiet location, just few minutes walk from restaurants, bars and a supermarket (which was open from 8am to 8pm). Bus stops are couple of minutes walk away. If you don't mind walking further Interlaken Ost/ West and Wilderwill stations are just 10-15 mins of walk.

We would highly recommend the property, we had a super time and look forward to returning in the not too distant future.

Quiet, comfortable, up-to-date; great location

We really enjoyed staying here. It is in an ideal location to stay for a week and make day trips to the many scenic and historic attractions in the area. Tony and Tracy were very helpful with tips about the best attractions. Nearby Interlaken is too busy for our tastes, but this quiet place is within a five-minute walk of all the amenities (groceries, bus stop, restaurants, bakery, etc.). The farmhouse is all-new inside, is good for families, and even has a set of toys for small children. At first, I was a little nervous about wiring a deposit to reserve the place, but there were no issues. Tracy was very prompt in responding to my questions via e-mail, and she let me know right away when my wire transfer hit her bank account. Also, the photos and description accurately portray what the place is like.
