"Rocky Meadows Cottage" is close to 221 but has a feeling of seclusion. There are two bedrooms, a queen-size bed in one and a bunk that has a full-size bottom bed with a twin in the upper. The great room was designed with family time in mind. The covered back deck has a patio table chairs and gas grill for outdoor entertaining. We have a full basement that is pretty much empty except for the washer, dryer and now a ping pong table. Designed and built by the owners this simple cabin utilizes many re-purposed materials. The floors are oak drawer fronts that were free and obtained from a cabinet shop that closed. The walls and ceilings are finished yellow pine, the window and door casings have mahogany boards. All of these boards were cut off the property then dried and milled.

About jennifer poarch
My husband and I live in Lenoir NC with our 5 sons, 2 daughter-in-laws, 3 grandchildren and now my precious father. I am an ER nurse, employed with Blue Ridge Health Care for the past 25 years. My husband is self-employed, pours concrete for a living and can do just about anything he sets his mind to.
jennifer poarch purchased this House in 2016
Why jennifer poarch chose Blowing Rock
Rocky Meadows is a special place. My father's great aunt, Minerva Walker Goldsmith, purchased this property around 1929 to spend summers away from the heat of Palm Beach. Aunt Bee was known for her modernist watercolor landscape and seascape paintings. She developed a love for the mountains and sold property to her friends, one being Phillip Moose, who established what is now Artist Alley. As a little girl, I loved spending parts of my summers in Blowing Rock which led to my attending Appalachian State and then eventually meeting my husband.
What makes this House unique
My husband and I built the cabin ourselves using re-purposed materials. What I love most about the cabin is the privacy that it provides. It is close to the road but offers a feeling of seclusion, it sits on 3 acres. It is completely surrounded by nature with no other homes in sight. While the cabin is secluded, it is just a short drive into town. There are restaurants, shopping and entertainment close by. It is also close to the Parkway, Moses Cone and Price Park.

Another great experience!!
This is the second time my family has stayed at this amazing cabin and yet again it NEVER disappoints! Thank you for helping us make such amazing memories for our family!
BEAUTIFUL and COZY
A beautiful and quiet place. Everything is as it is seen in the photo. Everything was clean, tidy, there were enough clean towels, cutlery, crockery, pots, detergents, shampoo creams in all nothing to envy to a hotel. The person who rents the house answered us quickly and even recommended a place to eat. We were comfortable and my children and wife loved the house. We would definitely go back.
Had a wonderful visit over New Year. Cabin was clean and comfortable.
Great location, close to blowing Rock, and Boone. Very nice and everything you need
Owners great to work with. Very clean cabin. We had a great time. Had everything you need. Love the seclusion from everyone but only 3.5 miles from blowing Rock. Would definitely stay here again.
Beautiful Cozy Cabin!
We had the best time staying in this cozy cabin. It was so beautiful, neat and clean on the inside! Plenty of room for our family of 3 & dog. The back porch is spacious and a great place to relax. Will definitely stay again here in the future!
