About the property

Newly built canal house and recently renovated ground floor apartment off the Lauriergracht next to the Nine Streets with all new amenities, situated in the heart of the Jordaan in the center of Amsterdam. Located in a charming and relatively quiet area of the city, but being only minutes away by foot from most attractions, the area offers fantastic amenities, including some of the best restaurants, Dutch cheese shops, bakeries and only a few minutes from one of the best outdoor markets in the city.

The apartment comfortably sleeps three people. Enter into a foyer, with a small private room for your coats, shoes and umbrellas, etc... The first room you enter is the living room space, with a pull out sofa bed and a small dining area. Adjacent in the first room is the kitchen area, with all of the amenities needed, including a new refrigerator, microwave, gas stove, American and European coffee makers, and all other important kitchen appliances. The next room is the master bedroom suite, that comfortably sleeps two people, with dresser drawers, cable and netflix TV along with internet access. In the back room is a large and heated master bathroom, again newly built, which includes a separate alcove that stores a washing machine and dryer.

Next to the house are wonderful cafes and Italian pizzeria for take out, two blocks away are the bustling commercial streets of the Elandsgracht and Rozengracht, with over 50 restaurants and bakeries, cheese and wine shops, breakfast nooks, chocolate shops, book stores and a large grocery store. An information sheet is provided to guests with recommendations of the best eateries in the area upon arrival.

We are close to and in walking distance from every major tourist destination in Amsterdam. Two blocks away is the most charming part of central Amsterdam, the "9 Straatjes" or nine streets, with many shops, restaurants, traditional pubs and terraces, truly the place to be seen. 5 minute walk is the famous Anne Frank House and Westerkerk, 10 minute walk you can access the Leiseplein and "Museumplein" or museum square, which houses the Van Gogh Museum, recently renovated Rijks Museum, and the famous the Stedelijk Museum. And the Dam Square, about a 12 minute walk is home to the Royal Palace and capital of the Netherlands. The other city markets/ squares, including the Central Station, Rembrandtsplein, Mund and the infamous Red Light District are all located about a 15 minute walk from the apartment.

The apartment is run by two Americans, both originally from the US but living in Amsterdam now for many years.

Why Peter Mulroy or David Turner chose Jordaan

This is one of the few modern homes in the Jordaan neighborhood, that is just next to the Lauiergracht (canal), and was built with higher ceilings, larger rooms, wide windows, and very bright, opposite a traditional canal house, which is just the opposite. So it attracted me from the standpoint of it being modern, with excellent light and spacious. The apartment was renovated in 2015, and now has three large rooms, a master bedroom, master bathroom and a living room/kitchen space combined. It is located on the ground floor and has easy access.

Perfect location, charming apartment, great host!

This elegant first-floor apartment is ideal for a stay in the best neighborhood in Amsterdam. It is small, but comfortable - we are a couple and a child and we found that it had everything we needed magically compacted into the delightful two rooms. It has a very fancy bathroom, too. The apartment is perfectly appointed - we pack lightly, so we appreciated the washing machine, dryer, and towel drying rack. The host is charming, welcoming, and responds quickly to emails and texts. There's a grocery store nearby, in addition to restaurants and (of course!) a place to rent bikes. We'll be back!!

Peter was a great host and very responsive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The place was nice and cozy and just what we needed for our two night stay. We also enjoyed the neighborhood. Peter have several great restaurant recommendations too and now we’ll just have to come back to try all of them.

Home away from home, great apartment with all that you need and perfect location.

We really enjoyed our stay at David & Peter’s home. The apartment is perfect with all that you need, the bed is extremely comfortable and if you love a nice bath this is amazing!

David greeted us when we arrived and was very helpful & charming.

The location was perfect for us, close to the centre and all the attractions easily accessible either via tram, bus, bike or walking.

Would definitely recommend this lovely cosy home.

Comfortable, well equipped and ideally located!

My daughter and I took up residence in Peter and David's apartment for nine nights in February. It was perfect. For exploring Amsterdam; it is walking distance to just about every attraction you can think of. The immediate neighborhood is filled with delicious restaurant choices and pricey boutiques and galleries for window shopping. Peter and David were excellent hosts, responding to all our inquiries promptly and thoroughly. The apartment is a "comfortable" size (by Amsterdam standards) for two adults and the newly remodeled bathroom is very attractive and includes a washer and dryer. The kitchen is well equipped with the exception of a missing oven/toaster. But, honestly, who wants to cook when they're on vacation and the local take-away choices are so great. We did a pretty extensive search of all the lodging options and, I think, we nailed it. Highly recommended.
