Lake Maggiore is one of the most beautiful lakes in Europe, if not the world, and the region offers numerous attractions to visitors of all ages. We can provide you with many suggestions and recommend some of our favorite places to help you make the most of your holiday. The following are just some of the many attractions and activities the area has to offer:
-The region's world famous music festival runs from June to September. Enjoy numerous free concerts and performances, many in romantic, outdoor settings.
-Wonderful street markets in Stresa, Arona, Intra, Cannobio…. a great place to taste some of the regional specialities and buy locally made arts and crafts, antiques, souvenirs, etc.
-Visit the famous Borromeo islands (Isola Bella, Madre and Pescatori) for their beautiful palaces, exquisite gardens and charming villages.
-Take the Lago Maggiore Express tour which combines a boat cruise to Locarno (Switzerland) and a scenic train ride through the Alps before completing the loop back to Stresa.
-Visit the many great points of interest around Lake Maggiore, including the statue of Carlo Borromeo in Arona, the Rocca Borromea castle in Angera, the Santa Caterina monastery near Leggiuno, and the lush gardens of Villa Taranto in Pallanza.
-Enjoy the views from Mount Sasso del Ferro above Laveno. The two-person bucket lift is an unforgettable experience on its own.
-For more breathtaking views of the region get to the top of Mount Mottarone (either by cable car from Stresa or by car). Enjoy the superb panoramic view (7 lakes and Monte Rosa), have a delicious lunch or dinner at one of the restaurants, and enjoy family fun at Alpyland.
-Take advantage of the numerous water activities, including boating, sailing, wind surfing, kayak and swimming (we will show you the best and cleanest beaches).
-Visit the beautiful Lake Orta. The charming San Giulio is a jewel of a town and the Sacro Monte above it is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
-Milan is only a one-hour train ride from Stresa. Visit the Duomo, La Scala and the designer shops within the world famous fashion triangle.
-Great hiking throughout the region. We will provide you with detailed maps and recommend some of our favourite trails.
-Many popular day trips and excursions, including the Three Lakes tour (Maggiore, Lugano and Como), Zermatt, Bergamo and others.
-Golf, skiing, biking…. Numerous local golf courses and skiing resorts to choose from.

This property was a bit dated, and you need a car, as its some distance from the lake and not a easy walk,
We used the washing machine, and with the oven and TV on had to keep going outside and down on set of stairs to keep switching the electrics back on as the trip kept going out, this i did 3 times after which we had to turn every thing off to keep the washing machine going.
The supermarket was about 5 miles away, and the one in Stresa does not have a car park.
We paid for towels and sheets and had 2 towels and 2 hand towels plus one set of bed linen for 10 days.
One sunbed was broken and not useable.
The TV was useable but only 2 UK news channels despite it have multiple channels all which were coming up not tuned in.
However the view from the balcony was very nice.
Hi Kevin, we're sorry to hear you did found our apartment not quite to your standards. With regards to some of the things you mentioned, the location of our property is explained in great detail on the website and a car is highly recommended so that should not have come as a surprise. The pictures on the website show exactly what the apartment looks like and most people would not consider that "dated" but we suppose it's just a matter of personal opinion. As to the electricity, this is not unique to our property... it's much the same throughout Italy. The standard set-up allows you to use about 3,5 KW of electricity at the same time which means you do have to keep an eye on what you have on. If you use too many things at once (washing machine, oven, water cooker, etc.) the circuit breakers will trip and you will need to reset them. A set of towels and linens is provided, regardless of one's length of stay. We do have a washing machine in the apartment for those who would like to refresh them every 2-3 days. Our TV offers standard satellite service with many international channels (throughout Europe and beyond). Not all channels are available but a fairly good selection in various languages can be found. Thank you again for having chosen us for your holiday and we hope you'll come back to explore our beautiful region at some point in the future.
Amazing views, beautiful apartment!
Enjoyed our stay in this beautiful apartment with amazing views in a sweet town.
Hi Valjean... thank you for your wonderful review! We really appreciate it. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay, even though it was a short one. Hopefully you'll come back to Lake Maggiore at some point in the future to explore this beautiful region in more detail. We'll be very happy to accommodate you again :) Thank you again and enjoy the rest of the summer!
Super comfortable bed. Amazing views.
I have been traveling for weeks on my trip and the bed in this particular vacation rental has been the most comfortable bed out of all the rentals I have stayed in. The views from the sundeck are simply lovely.
Hi Daniel. Thank you for your wonderful review... we really appreicate it! We are glad you enjoyed your stay and found our property very comfortable. Have a great summer and we hope to welcome you again to the beautiful Lake Maggiore at some point in the future.

Great Holiday Apartment !!
We normally don’t write reviews unless we are very disappointed or extremely happy with the places we stayed at. This was the latter case…. everything about this apartment and our holiday was perfect and so much better than we expected. It started off with a very quick and easy booking process. Even though the owners provide pretty much all the information you’ll ever need about the apartment and the area on the website, they promptly and thoroughly answered all of our questions and concerns prior to us booking the unit. When we arrived at the property the owners, Maciek and Brenda, personally welcomed us at the apartment, showed us around the unit and explained where everything was and how things worked (the satellite TV, stove, etc.). They also provided us with lots of information about the area (maps, brochures, booklets,…) and gave us some good advice on what places to visit, where to have a nice lunch or dinner, what beaches to go to and much more. This was very much appreciated as this was our first time at Lake Maggiore and with so much to see and do we needed some help organizing and planning our stay there. As to the apartment itself, we loved it the minute we saw it. It is very bright, spacious and well planned out. Given that this was where the owners used to live it is furnished with nice, high quality furniture and it’s very tastefully decorated (not too much, not too little.) It also comes with everything you could possibly need during your holiday (including books, playing cards, games, etc.). The best feature of the apartment has to be the view and the wonderful huge terrace where we were spending most of our time while at the apartment... truly a great place to dine "al fresco", enjoy a cappuccino or a glass or wine, or simply relax while reading a book or taking in the sun.
Magognino itself is also a very nice small town. It offers spectacular views of the lake and the mountains, it's very close to Stresa and it's quite central to all of the other attractions the area has to offer. It's also much more peaceful, quieter and fresher than the towns right on the lake which can get somewhat hot and stuffy during the summer months. Overall, much like everyone else, we cannot say anything negative about this apartment. We were very impressed with it and it made for a truly wonderful, memorable holiday. If you are looking for a nice place around Lake Maggiore rent this apartment.... you will not be disappointed.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review, Jacob... we truly greatly appreciate it. We very much enjoyed meeting you and Vivian and we hope to see you again in a not too distant future.
Very nice apartment
We stay in this apartment for few days in June. We came by train to Stresa and the owners said they will pick up us from the train station because we have much luggage. It was very kind of them. The apartment is perfect, very nice view, new furniture and very nice big terrace. It is even better in real than the photos. We took bus to Stresa and few times we walk (about 1 hour). From Stresa you can take boat all around Lake Maggiore, go by bus to other towns or take the train, etc. (many different options). One time we took taxi back to the apartment (to Magognino) from Stresa for 15 euro. In Magognino is a small food market with many different things (milk, eggs, bread, cheese, meat, etc.) The restaurants are 2 km away (about 20 minutes) but is very nice walk. We really like this apartment and can recommend to everyone. Next time we come with car to Lake Maggiore and we will stay here again. Thank you again to owners Brenda and Maciek.
My husband and I stayed at this apartment in November of 2011, after we spent a week at the apartment in July. This is such a beautiful area that we decided to come back and explore it a bit more. We will most likely come back once more in a year or two. We enjoyed both of our stays very much. The apartment is perfect… clean, spacious and very nicely furnished. Plus the view is amazing. Though the evenings do get a bit chilly in November, we could still enjoy a nice morning cappuccino and lunch on the terrace. It is also a perfect time for hiking in the mountains (which we both love) and enjoying all the colors of the season. There are many wonderful trails just minutes from the apartment which means you don’t need to drive anywhere to enjoy the nature. The owners, who have lived in the area for a number of years, will provide you with all the local maps you will need and they will recommend many wonderful places to visit and explore. Overall, we truly had a wonderful experience and that is why we will stay at this apartment again once we come back to the area.
The residence is located in a charming small village of Magognino, only a few minutes from Stresa, the most popular town on Lake Maggiore. Away from the main road and the hustle and bustle of busy lakeside towns, the property enjoys a very peaceful setting, ideal for those seeking a quiet retreat after a long, busy day. The village center, about 200 meters away, features a small preschool with a playground, a church and a bus stop along the Stresa - Borgomanero line. Several local restaurants serving delicious meals are within a short walking distance (15 - 20 minutes). The property is surrounded by beautiful nature with many scenic walking trails to choose from. A wonderful golf course (open to the public) is only 2 km away and is a great destination for a morning cappuccino, lunch or a romantic dinner. For family fun, swimming pools, playgrounds, tennis courts and other sports facilities are within a few minutes drive.
