A delightful apartment
Marina has created a little treasure of an apartment in a lovely old building. You step through the huge doors off the porticoed street, into a vaulted hall and through another door into a courtyard full of plants. Climbing the stairs to the second floor, pause to look through an open window at a spectacular roofscape before entering the balcony full of plants and with walls covered in many interesting pictures and artefacts. The two roomed apartment which leads directly on to the balcony is compact but carefully organised for simple everyday living. There is everything you need, the bed is comfortable, the shower has lots of hot water but also the furnishings are individual and so beautifully done.
We loved staying here, only a short walk to the main historic centre but also in a real neighbourhood with a sense of community and many small shops and cafes supporting that community. Marina is a kind and generous host, warmly welcoming, happy to help with advice for places to eat ( all her recommendations were excellent) and shop.
The balcony is a lovely place to sit for morning coffee or with tea and a book after a day of walking the city. It was a little too chilly in the October evenings to sit out for aperitivos or dinner but in warmer months would be lovely. We would recommend this apartment to anyone wanting to stay near all the important sights of Bologna but in a quiet area which is interesting in itself.
