About Sarah Hughes

Hello hello,

Most of my days are spent in the photography, news and socio-anthro worlds. I am a photo editor for a French magazine and have been working on my own photography and interview series for years. I'm a big fan of spending as much time as possible outdoors, traveling and enjoying great food and drink with friends. I split my time between Brooklyn and by the water on the North Shore of Long Island.

My place is lovely and bright!

Come visit.

Sarah Hughes purchased this apartment in 2008

Why Sarah Hughes chose Broadway Triangle

My place is very close to multiple train lines so is great!

I primarily host travelers from overseas who are here to explore the city and they love it. The train is very convenient, and when you come home from a long day exploring or in between adventures you have plenty of space to relax, restore, refresh, then head back out or call it a day.

JMZ trains, Lorimer / Flushing stops (3 stops to Manhattan). This is the closest train and is less than a 5-minute walk. The M takes you directly north Manhattan to Times Square, Central Park, 5th Ave fancy shops, Union Square, etc. The J train, on the same line, takes you south directly to World Trade, historical areas, South Seaport, Century 21 shopping.

L train- Montrose stop is a 15 min walk and takes you directly to Union Square.

G train- Flushing/Broadway stops, 8 min walk, take you directly to PS1 art center Queens or great short cut to Central Park through Court Square transfer to E or M trains. G train south takes you to heart of Brooklyn.

Dumbo is a great waterfront area with stunning views of Manhattan and is a 7 minute taxi.

Also trains from my apt are direct to JFK Airport, which is great if arriving or departing during rush hour to avoid traffic and cost of taxi. LGA easy 25 min drive. Newark easy on train with transfer in Manhattan.

Hope this helps!

What makes this apartment unique

Big & Bright!

Much more than you can see in the photos.

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

We felt very lucky to find Sarah's place for our visit to NYC. It is a large, open and airy apartment in a central location in Brooklyn, easy access to several subway lines. And Sarah was very helpful with notes on neighborhood sites and restaurants and answers to questions.

We would love to stay there again on a future trip.

Fantastic place to stay, so close to Manhattan!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here with my family of 6 (myself, my husband, 3 teenagers and a 2 yr old) it was plenty big enough for us and we loved it, and the eclectic style ! The apartment is in a great location, so close to the subway. We loved that we could hang out together in the living room or split off in to the huge bedrooms when we wanted a bit of space.

Sarah went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, showing us around the apartment when we arrived (even waiting 2 hours cause we were delayed) she left lots of little extras for us including m&ms (which the kids loved!!) milk in the fridge and all the kitchen extras (oil, salt& pepper etc). The apartment was fitted out with everything we needed, and Sarah was just a text away for any questions we had, it was fantastic!

The heaters were kind of loud at night time when you were trying to sleep, but that was a minor flaw, and they definitely kept the place cosy in the freeeeezing conditions.

The staircases up to the mezzanine bedrooms are probably not the most child friendly with no hand rails, but we just closed the doors and it wasn't a problem for us.

Being an apartment there was also a little bit of noise from the neighbours above at night time, but again this wasn't a biggy as we were staying during NYE so extra noise is to be expected.

We felt really safe and secure and would all happily recommend staying here- our only regret is that we couldn't explore more things arounds Williamsburg- it was just too cold!!

Thanks again Sarah :)

Owner's Response: So great to hear how you appreciated the large space, layout and proximity to city! Big Blue is the coziest couch I know... To respond to a few points for future renters: The heaters are sadly a bit noisy. However there is a space heater with a thermostat that is very quiet for that reason. The heat rises so the two upper bedrooms are toasty warm without the heat on at night. Otherwise it gets too hot. The space heater is there for the pull out sofa on the ground level. Next time we are having a freezing arctic season will provide a 2nd space heater to address the noise issue. The stairs do have handrails, however they are only on the inside, along the wall, not on both sides of the stairs. This was for aesthetic reasons. Not good for a toddler to explore but fine for kids and adults. Regarding my upstairs neighbors, I have spoken with them. It was New Years Eve and the holidays but I asked them to be more sensitive when coming in late in the evenings. Our building has a rule of no loud music or noise after 11pm so this will be upheld. Thank you again! You were wonderful guests. Future guests please feel free to ask any questions. Sarah

Great Apartment! Comfortable and convenient to Manhatten

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyed our stay no complaints about cleanliness or amenities. No surprises or disappointments which is always good 😊?.

Apartment is set up with 2 separate loft bedrooms on either side of a kitchen /seating area. So lots of room for 2 couples and 4 kids in total. Had only one washroom but with our group of eight wasn't an issue. Apartment is close to subway line to Manhatten, and shops close by for groceries etc. Highly recommended.

Excellent choice.

  • 4 of 5

This is a great place for a family or group of people. It is close to the subway, all kinds of shops and restaurants. Brooklyn is an interesting place in itself but also easy to get to Manhattan. The owner is super helpful and we got a prompt return of our damage deposit. I would recommend this place to anyone asking.

I would definitely recommend staying at Sarah's place. There's a lot of room that can sleep quite a few people. The place was spotless and Sarah was very attentive to our needs.
