Bob and I have enjoyed our month here in Captiva Cottage. It is hard to leave to go back to the icy cold of Wisconsin! The new pool has been wonderful! Our grandkids especially enjoyed the fountain and the shallow end. We love having a fenced yard and all the privacy that the cottage gives us. The beach has been incredible...most days we have had it to ourselves. Every day it is different and it is always fun to see what it will be like. Most days we have seen dolphins. Piper, our Golden Retriever, has been Queen of the beach! She just wants to swim and retrieve any kind of ball and is quite good at riding the waves. I think she has developed a following! The Cottage has an outdoor shower where we were able to bathe her daily after her time at the beach.
We have enjoyed the Ding Darling immensely and have made a daily trip there. We've seen endangered Wood Storks, the legendary lady crocodile,an alligator and so many gorgeous birds. Some of them such as the Blue Herons, Snowy Egret and Great Egrets we have at home in the summer. We kayaked in Tarpon Bay which was so neat.
We also went fishing with a guide for Redfish. We came home and prepared them for dinner. It was wonderful!
Your perfect location enabled us easy access to many fantastic restaurants both on Captiva and in Sanibel. Our favorites include Over Easy Cafe for breakfasts, picking up take home lunches at Sweet Treats Gourmet and dinners at The Timbers, Doc Fords and Sunshine Seafood.
Bob and I so enjoyed our time in Captiva Cottage. It was the 2nd year we stayed and hopefully we will again next year!
Your photos give an accurate look into the house which really has all that one needs for their vacation. It is very clean and well maintained.
This was one of the best equipped rental homes we have ever stayed in; from the kitchen, to the cleaning supplies, to the extra fencing for the dog. Loved the split level house so that the human child and the canine child could have separate spaces. Comfortable beds, easily cleanable furniture (again human and canine child). The pool is wonderful. There is plenty of common space inside and out and plenty of places to go be by yourself too. And the beach is perfect. Most of the time we had it to ourselves. We had an absolutely fantastic time at this home and the fell in love with the island. We will be back, year after year.
We really enjoyed staying in this nice property. Very comfortable and super clean. Marguerethe has everything you need, from dishes to towels, to everything you might need. The beach is just across the street, you practically have a private beach. It was really nice to have a pool and grill. The location is very private. We are already thinking to come back next year. This was our second year in Captiva. The bedroom downstairs is separate from the rest of the house.
We had an amazing time in this Captiva Cottage. We were 6 adults and there was plenty of space for all of us. Happy hour everyday at the very private pool with shade for those who wanted it and sun for others. Sunset on the beach just minutes away (across the street) was a nice evening adventure, what can I say about the shells except WOW! They might say Sanibel is the sea shell capital but I don't think shelling can get much better than here at Captiva. Our favorite restaraunt is Mucky Duck just a couple of miles away,
A real plus door us was the screened in lanai. Great place to play board games in the evening.
I have already booked for next year. Thanks Margarethe for making the cottage so special.
My family and I enjoyed the Christmas week 2014 at this quaint little cottage. You have great privacy and a wonderful heated pool to enjoy. The weather was fantastic and the shelling was great. The location is great between the two islands and we enjoyed the wildlife on the island including the nesting Bald Eagles. Margarethe was a wonderful hostess and very responsive to our needs. This is one of the islands best kept secrets.
Clean, comfortable refuge. Nicely furnished and very well equipped. A beautiful new kitchen with all necessities and numerous luxuries. The setting is ideal: privacy without isolation and the convenience of both fresh and saltwater.
Other Activities: shelling, dolphin watch, sunset cruise
