Guestbook comments from the owner

If you are umming and ahhhing about which holiday cottage to rent in this area, or indeed in Ireland as a whole, then congratulations, the search is over: this is the one you want. The location is perfect - a brief walk into the cafes, shops and pubs of Louisburgh, or to a beautiful secluded beach. Hop in the car and you're at Old Head Beach in five minutes. We spent a full glorious day there - the children swimming, my husband paddle boarding, relatives walking, painting, making sandcastles. It was perfect. 20 minutes and you're in Westport with a wealth of shops, cafes, a theatre, fabulous restaurants (An Port Mor is a gem). Croagh Patrick is on your doorstep, and there is so much to do within a very short radius that you will never cram it all in. The scenery, the museums, the beaches, the bike trails, the fishing...... The house itself, as a previous reviewer has mentioned, is FAR bigger and more beautiful than the photos suggest. We were a party of five adults and two young children and the cottage managed to provide us with more than enough space whilst also feeling incredibly cosy and warm. The kitchen is just wonderful - we all left saying we wanted to remodel ours to be just the same! It is furnished and kitted out with absolutely everything you could possibly need, from kitchen-ware to buckets and spades, cots to tumble dryers, wineglasses to a first aid kit. It is beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and in fabulous repair. Donna the owner was extremely helpful and welcoming. The close it is in is lovely. Before we had even taken our suitcases out of the car my toddler was playing hurling with the little boy across the street, and 30 minutes later we were sitting down to spaghetti Bolognese and a bottle of wine in the beautiful kitchen, before taking a quiet walk at dusk down to the beach to watch the sun set. The only person I can imagine not enjoying this wonderful cottage in this beautiful location is the world's surliest teenager, as there is no WIFI. Everyone else will love it as much as we did. We will definitely be back.

In a word --- FABULOUS!!!

  • 5 of 5

My sisters and I spent a week at this cottage and we all wished it could have been a month. The house was roomy, well-appointed and comfortable. The setting was scenic and peaceful. The location was perfect for day trips to Clare Island, Achill Island, Croagh Patrick, Cong, etc, etc. We were able to walk into town to shop and walk to the beach. I really can't say enough about our time in Louisburgh and in this cottage. We're back home now and wondering "was it a dream?"
