My family and I stayed here over October half term, and were not disappointed. The house is in a great location, and the boys enjoyed (very) early morning walks along the beach. The welcome we received, in the form of home made scones, clotted cream and jam for a beautiful cream tea, were very much appreciated, and tasted lovely. The house is a great size, and everything is finished to a high standard. We had an amazing time and can't wait to rebook.

Great place for families for Holiday by the sea.

Many thanks again, for letting us stay in Mackerel Skies - we really enjoyed it.

The welcome with Scones, clotted cream and strawberry jam and sunflowers on the table was a nice and delicious surprise

The house is providing a lot of space for two families with four Kids. The interior is very nice and comfortable.

We made a big sleeping room for the four kids upstairs, that the parent couples each had an own sleeping room.

Only the metal bed down stair might be a bit a problem for sensitive sleepers.

The view down over Fistral Beach with the Headland Hotel in the background is amazing. Only 5 minutes walk to the beach is another great benefit.

The Surfing School Avis had booked for the Kids was really good. There were small groups with very enthusiastic teachers.

The kids had 3 days full of fun – everybody of them stood at the surf board riding the waves in the end.

No doubt, we would recommend Mackerel Skies or stay there again at any time .

Owner's Response: We're really glad Jana and her family had another great stay and very grateful they tipped us off about the squeaky bed which has now been de-squeaked! - Thanks so much and see you again soon, Avis

Modern comfortable house, great location.

  • 4 of 5

We have just got back from a great half term break with fantastic weather for February. The house is modern, comfortable and spacious - easily accommodating our large family. We loved the bright funky kitchen dining room, especially the oval eating area and there was loads of chill out space on the big sofas in the lounge. It's in a great location, only a short walk from two beaches and close to the town. My sons were seriously impressed with the surf. We'd have no hesitation in booking this property again next year.

Great house, great location

  • 5 of 5

Mackerel Skies is a great place - a really clean, fresh, bright and trendy house to chill out and relax in after gorgeous days at the beach.

The open plan kitchen and dining room is a fantastic sociable space and we spent lots of our time there in the evenings – mostly forgetting about the lounge..which is also a brilliant space!

A bathroom upstairs and shower room downstairs too is really handy for larger groups sharing, and touches like the loungers on the second bedroom balcony are a real treat.

The house is just minutes from the beach and an ideal base, well situated for Fistral and main roads in and out of town too.

We’d definitely recommend this place and hope to return soon.
