Delightful Home in a Cozy Neighborhood of Milan
This apartment was an absolute delight to stay in. I cherished my time living here during my two weeks in Milan. It quickly felt like home. Rita was a wonderful host. Though we never managed to meet in person, we kept in touch via WhatsApp where she was quick to respond to any questions I had about the apartment or the city in general. Have wifi/data for check-in. If Rita is at work, you’ll need to message her to be let in remotely. Rita has been kind, attentive, and incredibly helpful during my stay. Her apartment is beautiful. I wrote easily four times as much feedback (about things I learned living there and describing what it’s like to stay there so that future tenants can get an honest idea of daily life in that space), but I had to cut down significantly for the word limit. :(
APARTMENT was brand new and spotless. MAIN AREA is a bit cramped between table, kitchen, and loveseat. BEDROOMS are spacious, with heavenly king-sized beds and a closet with built-in organization. BATHROOM is new with a small stand-up shower that has a rainfall head, body jets, and a handheld washer. Tight fit. There is a laundry machine, and you’ll find a drying rack in the hallway closet. Rita can explain the trash/recycling system if you’re from out of the country. Apartment comes with some basic goods for daily living. LIGHTING is bright, but can be harsh at night. Use the stovetop light as a cozy alternative in the evening. SOUND travels with the high ceilings and building materials. You can hear neighbors in the stairwell and through walls, but it was never a problem for me. WIFI was initially spotty, but I got it to work on my laptop with little issue (try plugging it back in). My phone never seemed to connect. AREA of Città Studi is a beautiful, sleepy neighborhood. SHOPPING is close by on Via Buenos Aires, about 15 minutes walk. More expensive shopping is closer to the Duomo. METRO stops are about 7-10min walk away (Loreto Red/M1 and Piola Green/M2) and connect to everything. There are frequent bus stops around. There’s a cozy café and book shop right below apartment building, plenty of restaurants and pizza places nearby, and also some public parks. GROCERY store 3 blocks away (Carrefour) near Piola metro stop.
Get the ATM Milano app (free) for your phone to figure out transportation costs, maps, and directions around the city. Also consider downloading the Google Map for Milan for offline use to enable easier navigation if you have spotty service/wifi.
