Hallo everyone! My name is SONIA and I am from Lucca. I run my Lucca Holiday Rentals company that offers exceptional apartments in the heart of Lucca. My goal is to help you fall in love with Lucca – to discover, explore, taste and savor new sights and experiences in this incredible city.
My company began almost 10 years ago when I started to rent my family villa after my parents moved to the mountains when they got retired. I spent there my entire childhood and I grew up there in deep contact with the nature and the history. My father thaught me everything about the birds and the antique trees and flowers of the villa and the smell of the sizzling pans used to wake me up each Sunday morning after my mum started to cook! I was fascinated by her when she was telling me the history of the villa in the past century. I thought this kind of feelings are too precious to let them go so then I had the idea to share my love of Lucca and “la dolce Vita” by finding beautiful apartments , villas and farmhouses in my favorite Lucca neighborhoods among my family members properties. Lucca Holiday Rentals started out as a boutique family company and now there are over 15 people working together. We are a friendly and enthusiastic team who will assist you every step of the way, from your first enquiry to your arrival in Lucca.
Mrs Sonia purchased this apartment in 2012

We had an enjoyable stay here in late early november. After a previous week at a couple of hotels it was good to have an apartment with your own space for eating and washing. There was lots of room for the four of us. The apartment was very handy for amenities nearby also. We loved the character of the apartment and having the bike with our own garage attached to the apartment was a real bonus. Sonia was easy to deal with and took great care of us. She was helpful and smiling and answered promptly to all our questions and concerns.
The two towers you can climb at Lucca are well worth a visit and the walls are very special. I ran around them a couple of times and its interesting seeing all the locals either walking or running or taking their dogs for walks.
One day we travelled early to Pisa by train and so missed the crowds when going up the leaning tower. We also had trips into the Garfagnana area and to the seaside which is very close.
Thank you so much for making our holiday at Casa Simonetta so pleasant. We loved the apartment and the way you decorated. Every piece tells history. The location is very romantic and in a quiet area close to the main shopping and sights. And we will never forget it. All the rooms and the bedrooms are very spacious, the kitchen was superbly equipped. The huge living room had a fantastic design with its high beamed ceiling! This is an apartment where I could live for longtime, I also felt 'very secure'. Instructions for meeting were clear, arrival worked smoothly and our host was promptly over the phone for any request. Thank you very much Sonia, it’s always a pleasure to come back to Lucca and renting one of your properties!
I loved Lucca and will go back. This was my first home away experience. I was with Matz Peretz family who also was there in a gorgeous place that ms Sonia had rented them. Mine regrettably was quite flawed. No Ac but fir one room and I mentioned it day one to the gal who met me there and she denied nicely that fact so the heat was awful but for one bedroom which was marginal but doable. Next not one glass in kitchen but since I could stay in any room due to the heat I managed. Was never going to use the room. The dryer did not work and despite an email to that effect by Jesse Matz who tried to help me by writing we heard nothing so no clothes were not washed. While maybe it worked I needed a lesson on how not just to be told that it was a dryer and a washer as it was way more complicated than USA. The good news is while spending most of my waking time at Matz Peretz place I came to understand it was possible to have very decent modern housing which is the only kind I would be interested in. So in short I did not feel that this place had done the right job at all and concluded they should remove it fix the Ac the dryer provide glasses and consider washing the stone floor which was dirty and required feet washing whenever I walked across is barefooted. I am glad to be able to share this and believe that if ms Sonia did these things it would have been fine. I still want better but it would have worked
We spent a month here. The apartment is in an excellent location inside the Lucca town walls near shopping, restaurants etc. The rooms are quite large and bright with window shutters you can close to keep out the light if desired.
We had been traveling with 3 kids for 2 months prior to our arrival here so having 3 bathrooms and a separate laundry room with a dryer was an absolute luxury.
The king size bed in the en-suite master was comfortable. (It could be made more so with the addition of a mattress cover. It was made up for us with just a sheet and you could feel the plastic mattress ties through it.) There was plenty of room in this bedroom for a bed for our littlest and good storage space so we could unpack and feel at home. The bathroom is large with a window ledge for your toiletries.
The living room is large and comfortable as is the kitchen. There were however only enough forks and spoons for one meal for the 5 of us. Unless we filled up the dishwasher, we ended up washing utensils.
There are multiple tables and chairs in the apartment which was great for us since we were homeschooling the kids on this trip.
The bikes provided are the same as those used by the locals. In other words, they squeak but get you where you're going. We had a blast cruising the town and the walls on bike. My husband rode to the larger Esselunga grocery store just outside the walls regularly. We rented a bike for our 8 year old since these are adult bikes. The kind folks at the bike shop also inflated the tires on these bikes for us. There was a child seat available for use with an adult bike too. It seemed too small for our 2.75 year old so we rented a larger one of those as well from the bike shop.
We stayed in winter (month of November) so the apartment got chilly at night. When we arrived, we were told we would need to pay for our gas usage. Our Italian friends told us gas is very expensive so we tried to keep our usage minimal. However, there were a few nights that the heat was required. It seemed we spent about 25 euro per night for that gas usage.
We loved staying here. It was very comfortable for a family of 5. The water heater went out on two occasions but the management and owners were responsive in getting the plumber in to fix it.
It has been our second time renting a place with Sonia. Description was right on. Apartment was immaculate, well-maintained, nicely stocked, wonderful location. Right next to bus station making it easily accessible to both Pisa and any location in Tuscany. Not only would we recommend, but we would rent again the next time we are in Lucca. Nice restaurants locally and grocery store around the block. Charming welcome from the owner (Mrs Sonia), a very kind lady. Thanks again from Phil and Cynthia
Great family accommodation that easily catered for 4 adults and 1 young lady (on an extra fold away bed). Close to Via Fillungo with its shopping and the Piazza dell'Anfitreato with its cafes snd restaurants, this is an ideal place to stay in Lucca. The kitchen is well equipped and there are large supermarkets not far outside the city walls - an easy bicycle ride away. There is a minimart a short walk away for the less adventurous. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are a good size. Thr only doenside is yhat you cannot use 2 appliances at the same time as this blows yhe fuse. Otherwise a grast find.
