This is our 4th year here for New Year and now we can all ski it's even better!. We are looking forward to our 5th year already
The chalet is so well located and equipped with the small extras that make a big difference.
We had a wonderful holiday in this picturesque place.
On arrival the chalet was immaculately clean and ready for our stay, within minutes the housekeeper arrived with a delivery of coffee for the pod machine, soon after the hot tub service manager arrived to make sure that the tub was in top class order, he also called two further times to make sure everything was ok. The chalet was as described on the website, it was obvious that care and attention had been given to the fixtures and furnishings, all very tasteful. Both bathrooms were well fitted out with good showers and an abundance of toiletries, very thoughtful. Outdoors the two sided terraced had lots of patio furniture and chairs, a lovely place to relax after a day of sightseeing and hiking. We used the hot tub every day a lovely wind-down before dinner. The upstairs bathroom has a large sauna, which looked well appointed but being a summertime visit we didn't make use of it.
Stadl is a small village with more amenities than we originally thought, it even has an open air lido area but early June wasn't warm enough for us to make a visit. There is a small bakery and a Nah & Frisch supermarket which was very useful for our self catering needs also a very friendly hotel which serves good beer and food.. Murau is just a short drive away, a very nice town for strolling around, there are also many larger grocery stores for a more comprehensive shop, be sure to check out Hoffer (Aldi) for wines and spirits at very good prices, we loved the Austrian wine. We were very surprised how inexpensive Austria is compared with neighbouring Switzerland and many European destinations, we will definitely return.
Booking and payments for the chalet were easy and very professional, thank you Debbie for making our stay memorable.
First impressions of the chalet were excellent - well-maintained gardens and spotlessly clean inside. Furnished to a very high standard, with lots of special little touches, the chalet has everything you could need for your holiday, whether skiing or hiking.
Undoubtedly well-located for skiing, there are also plenty of places to walk straight from the chalet if, like us, you choose to visit in the summer months. Stadl an der Mur is a very quiet village, most of the time, but has all you’ll need including a selection of restaurants, a bakery, and small supermarket, although do watch out for the restricted opening hours of the latter two.
Debbie has created a brilliant guide to the surrounding area, and we can recommend the Kreischburg cable car, Zotter’s Chocolate Factory and the excellent Nocky Flitzer, which the kids all loved. Zotter’s is a bit of a drive, but the others are within easy reach.
All in all, we had a lovely stay at Chalet Edelweiss, and got to see some amazing scenery on the way!
We had a wonderful week in the chalet. We liked the Chalet, the skiing and of course we loved the jacuzzi.
Danke an Familie Loosley
Wonderful setting and outstanding scenery to wake up to. Fantastic owners Mark and Debbie to communicate with. The chalet was immaculate and very cosy, by far the most stunning chalet we have ever stayed in. Lots of home comforts including Marks and Spencer fleece blankets and cushions, Next kitchenware, the most amazing array of DVDs for both adults and children, painting sets, games and books to suit the whole family. The children loved the jacuzzi and sauna.
A beautiful swimming lake at the bottom of the hill, with volley ball area and tennis courts. Be warned though the tennis prices are expensive. We took our bikes with us and found some amazing routes along the river, popping in and out of villages we would never of visited in the car. There are some great local hotels and restaurants to eat in, plus a small supermarket, bank and bakery in the village. Very friendly locals who gave us mushrooms they had picked from the mountains, and even cooking advice. Lovely lovely place, the only down side was was that we had to come home.
Our chalet is in the village of Stadl which lies on the borders of the provinces of Salzburg, Styria and Carinthia. The region is primarily known for its many lakes as well as the majestic Hohe Tauern mountain range. With skiing between 1700 and 2200m it boasts some of Austria's most snow sure skiing yet also benefits from over 200 days sunshine a year, making it a truly dual season resort.
You could not ask for a more perfect, sought after location. The house is set in typically Austrian tranquil surroundings and the stunning views through Panoramic Glazing or from the huge sun terrace over the open fields & mountains will guarantee privacy and leave you feeling relaxed during your stay. In the winter stunning snow-scape's and in the summer, miles of open mountain wild flower and butterfly filled walks! Beautiful cities of Salzburg, Graz and Vienna are within easy reach, for the more adventurous the Italian and Slovenian borders are a 60 minute drive away with a trip to Venice being a 3 hour 30 minute drive
Chalet Edelweiss is only 1 1/2 hour drive from Salzburg which you can fly to directly from Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bristol, Coventry, Dublin, London, Manchester and Southampton. Klagenfurt Airport is only 1 hour 20 mins away, Graz airport is 1 ¾ hours away. Car Hire is recommended, in winter your hire car will be fitted with snow tires but you may also wish to hire snow chains just in case. The route from the airport is on cleared roads. Flights are available with Ryanair from London Stansted and Manchester airports. You can also fly with Aer Lingus and Easyjet. You can also drive to the Chalet, it takes about 11/12 hours from Calais.
Stadl is positioned between the two skiing areas of Kreischberg (10/15minutes) and Turracher (30 minutes) which combined offer nearly 70km of skiing; it is also only 45km from the Obertauern ski region which has 120km of pistes and at 1700m is also snow sure.
