Externally, Villa Elena boasts a 10 m x 4 m infinity swimming pool and outdoor shower. Next to which lies the poolside dining area under a gazebo near the stone-built barbecue. The sun terrace has sun lounges. There is also a separate, secluded sofa area.
This beautiful villa is extremely well equipped and the positioning, overlooking the Bay of Vlicho is stunning.
As the villa is East facing, you can open the blinds in the morning, throw open the double doors of the bedrooms and watch the sun rise (if you're up early). The double concertina double glazed front doors/windows open up completely, opening up the lounge to the pool area.
Nearby is Nidri, a buzzing little resort with many restaurants and bars, and even nearer is Vlicho with a few restaurants and a bar or two; also a marvellous Baker's shop which sells the most magnificent bread, cakes, pies and other household essentials.
If you stay in this villa you must go and visit the resident donkey. He lives in a field about 200 yards from the villa. Turn left at the bottom of the drive and he's on the right. He will be inordinately pleased to see you, especially if you go equipped with polo mints.
You can also amuse yourself by crying out in mock terror as you drive up and down the rather steep driveway. Daunting the first time but great fun thereafter.
Take a boat trip from Nidri - there are dozens to choose from, also hire a motor boat! Yes! This being Greece they actually give you a power boat to go and be a pirate for the day and just buzz off on your own to the little islands dotted around the place. 50 Euros for the day! You can cruise over to Meganisi in your launch and tie up at the quayside outside the Taverna at Vathi - the owner's son will help you with your docking - he'll look after you if you're new to boating. Great restaurant too!
After your busy day being a pirate you will be enormously grateful to plunge into the villa's infinity pool, which Vassilli, your immediate neighbour looks after for you every day. He will come and mend stuff in the villa too if it needs it. He is very obliging. There's useful maid service twice a week. They clean the villa and change the towels and bedding.
After your evening bathe, you can have a candlelit dinner under the gazebo by the pool or go out to dinner. There are lots of places to choose from, some within walking distance, although Nidri itself isn't all that far and you can easily walk there if you like.
A fantastic villa that will help make a fantastic holiday. We loved it!

The dramatic central mountain ridge is softened by an array of lush green valleys clad in olive groves and vineyards with tall cypress trees standing sentinel. Women wearing the traditional dresses and fine lace shawls continue cottage industries or help with the unchanging Greek rural life.

A short distance away lies the hidden gem of Haradiatika, with its white stone square surrounded by small traditional buildings. Protected on three sides by the towering mountains refresh yourself at one of the welcoming tavernas. Use all your senses to appreciate the flora and fauna of the island.
On the Northern tip, the island’s main town of Lefkada displays it’s unique architecture. It’s vibrant pedestrian area, surrounded by exclusive shops, bars, museums and churches, contrasts with yet compliments it’s up to date large marina with all the facilities the yachting fraternity may wish for.
