About Donald O'Keeffe

We are a middle aged couple who have been in the Holiday rental business for over 7 years.

Why Donald O'Keeffe chose Ireland

The cottage was previously our family home and has been passed down. The Sligo area is Cathleen's home and it is our intention to retire to the cottage in the future.

What makes this cottage unique

This Cottage was built at the location in 1978 and the location was selected as it gave fantastic views of the surrounding Bay and mountains

Ideal location, quaint cottage

  • 5 of 5

We spent three weeks at the cottage. Close to a bay, the scenery was breathtaking and changing all the time with the weather. The cottage was an excellent base for exploring the Counties Sligo, Mayo, Donegal and parts of Northern Ireland. The cottage was well furnished, clean and had everything we needed. It is out of the way and you will need a car, but that was what we were looking for. We found many good restaurants, shops and attractions within a short drive. There were many Megalithic sites (some dating back 5000 years), beaches, forest walks, sheepdog trials, mountains, abbeys and the Wild Atlantic Way close by. Any questions we had for the owners were answer promptly by telephone or email. I would recommend it especially for a couple or small group. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back!!

Lovely and romantic

  • 5 of 5

Old style cottage in a scenic and quite position, we loved it at once, even if it is almost very windy. Inside the house You find everything, all clean.

Sligo is very near, and a lot of beautiful spots are easily reachable.

The cottage is located just 3 kms from Ballisodare town just 12 km South of Sligo town – It is off the beaten track overlooking tranquil Ballisodare bay. With stunning views of the Bay , Ox mountains and Knocknerea the cottage is situated in farming country just 150 meters from the waters edge of Balisodare Bay. There are numerous beautiful walks in the area. The Bay itself is a shallow bay and plays host to a vast variety of wildlife including seals and migratory birds and has recently been designated an Area of Special Conservation by Irelands Department of Environment. Nearby Strandhill plays host to Surfing and Golf and Sligo provides extensive shopping and cultural events. 17th centuary Markree Castle Hotel is located just 8 kms away and Inishfree lake made famous by WB Yeats is also only 8 kms away.
