Overview

About the property

PEACE AND TRANQUILITY, thats what you will experience if you book a stay at Owls Nest .In fact many of our guests comment on the beautiful idilic location as soon as they arrive. This first floor accommodation is accessible via an external wooden staircase. The accommodation sleeps 2 people and has a bedroom with a double bed, bathroom with bath and shower, and a kitchen/lounge dining room. The kitchen is fully equipped including a built in fridge with ice box, washer/dryer machine, electric hob, and combi microwave. There is a breakfast bar with bar stools. The lounge dining room has a dining table and chairs a sofa and armchair with foot stool and built in cupboards. There is TV/ DVD, internet access and oil fired central heating in the property.

The property benefits from lovely views to the back and front and has a light and airy feel with a large window in the main living area.

There is a secluded outside seating area and plenty of available parking. Pets are welcome but must be able to climb stairs as the property is on the first floor. Also any pets must be able to get along with other dogs, cats and horses.

The barn enjoys a very quiet rural location with 17 acres of land encompassing the property and acres of farmland surrounding its boundaries which can be explored on one of the many public footpaths. The local landscape is mostly made up of various arable crops and the odd field of sheep.

Quiet single track lanes lead to the nearest village of Charsfield about 1.5 miles away where there is a pub, petrol station, church and recreation ground with a tennis court. The nearest shop and post office is located in the village of Otley about 10 minutes drive away or alternatively at Wickham Market also a 10 minute drive where there are shops and amenities including Chinese & Indian restaurants and a fish & chip shop.

Owls Nest is located in the Suffolk countryside about seven miles from the historic small towns of Woodbridge and Framlingham. Woodbridge is situated on the River Deben and walks along the river can be enjoyed from the town. It also has a very pleasant shopping centre with small interesting shops, pubs and restaurants, Woodbridge has a cinema, railway station and swimming pool. Framlingham also has plenty of history and is famous for its castle a magnificent 12th century fortress with a long and colourful past which makes a fascinating day out. The castle was once the refuge of Mary Tudor before she became Queen in 1553 and visitors can now explore over 800 years of life at Framlingham Castle. Like Woodbridge, Framlingham also has small shops and coffee shops to visit.

The Suffolk Heritage Coast, an area of outstanding natural beauty is within a short drive. The many places to visit include Aldeburgh which is well known for its international music festival. It also hosts an annual regatta and carnival. There are interesting shops and places to eat including famous fish and chips which can be enjoyed on the beach. Another is Southwold a charming town with a pier and beach and home to the Adnams beer where you can take a tour of the brewery. At Minsmere you will find the RSPB reserve. There is so much to see and hear at Minsmere: splendid woodland, wetland and coastal scenery, rare birds breeding and calling in on their migrations, shy wildlife like otters, the booming call of bitterns in spring, beautiful bugs and colourful wild flowers in summer. Minsmere was the location for the BBC Spring Watch series in 2014, 2015 & 2016. There are plenty of country pubs in the area to visit if you enjoy eating out. Forest walks are close by in the forests of Tunstall, Rendlesham and Dunwich.

Exactly as described and depicted on the website. We were not disappointed in any way.

Everything was perfect, really could not have been any better. Clare and Chris were great hosts and provided a relaxed and peaceful (very dog friendly) base for us to explore the surrounding area. The information pack was very comprehensive and very useful and Clare and Chris were also on hand to answer any questions. We loved our time at Owl's Nest and we were very sad when the time came for us to leave. Thank you Clare and Chris for making our stay so comfortable.

Very enjoyable stay

  • 5 of 5

We were more than happy with accommodation, and it was a nice touch to get 4 eggs from the farmyard chickens. There was a feeling of being in the middle of nowhere, which is what we like, but it was easy to get to all the places we wanted to visited. Our dog Buddy loved all the open space and walks around the farm ,but had to keep an eye on him with the chickens and cats 😀. We were made welcome by Clare and her husband also, which was nice.

Superb, couldn't be beaten

  • 5 of 5

Can't recommend Owl's Nest highly enough. Certainly lived up to the description - peace and tranquility - just what I needed. Spotlessly clean, fully equipped not only are there toiletries but a radio/CD player too.

It is completely out in the sticks, which was exactly what I wanted, you just need to be aware that it is located down single track roads, which are usually empty anyway, well in February they were.

I'm sure you will enjoy the peace and the chance to see the stars without light pollution.

Lovely setting, simple decor. Cosy.

If you want a true hideaway stay here! It feels miles from anywhere but really isn't. My only negative is the sitting room chairs could be more comfortable. Other than that, well appointed and friendly owners.

Anniversary Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We booked Owls Nest for a long weekend to celebrate our Anniversary and visit friends in Woodbridge. So glad we did.

Owls Nest is just as discribed, beautifully clean and spacious. The grounds were a delight to walk around with our dogs and Clare could not have been more helpful.

We will be back and so looking forward to it. Thank you Clare.
