Overview

About the property

This new 1110 sq foot log cabin sits in a perfect location. Out the back door is the Glacier View Golf Course and out the front door the Middle Fork of the Flathead River which offers excellent trout fishing. We are in West Glacier which provides the best access to all of the corners of Glacier National Park; including the famous "Going to the Sun Highway", the Alaska-like North Fork Road, and the back country roads into the Bob Marshall Wilderness.

After a busy day hiking, rafting, fishing, or exploring the Park you will love coming back to this cozy home. The cabin is constructed with solid blue pine logs and post and beam craftsmanship. In the great room, there is a cathedral ceiling and wood stove. A loft adds space for kids to play or watch television on the flat screen TV. Granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, and cherry cabinets in the kitchen provide a great setting for baking a huckleberry pie!

The elegant yet rustic interior has hardwood floors and reclaimed wood stairway. There is a Queen bedroom upstairs with half bath and a loft area with a full futon to sleep two more. Downstairs is a Queen bedroom with a full bathroom. There is a washer and dryer on the main floor, as well.

Relax on the timber frame covered front porch with a beverage after a long day of hiking or barbecue in the back yard.

There are MANY different activities in this area and as parents, hikers, bikers, fishermen and river runners we are happy to share our knowledge! Don't hesitate to contact us if the calendar is booked--we may have blocked dates for ourselves or friends.

About Mona Cuthbert

Owners Mike and Mona are from Montana and Alaska. After 10 years in Alaska we wanted a cabin in an area similar to "The Last Frontier"..but better weather!

As avid hikers the North Fork Road towards Canada is almost identical to the Alaska interior-glaciated streams, grizzly bears, rugged peaks, and bad roads!

Why Mona Cuthbert chose West Glacier

Mona is a wild berry nut and Mike spends as much free time as possible testing new fishing areas.

Huckleberries are found by mid July- as well as thimble berries, service berries, chokecherries, and many others.

The fishing can be excellent. Although most people travel to Montana for the trout fishing (which is walking distance); within 30 minutes of the cabin you can find bass, huge pike, lake trout, and pan fish.

Golfing is relatively inexpensive here- you can walk to the club house. In the summer you can buy a drink and basic dinner food at the club house for a very reasonable price.

What makes this cabin unique

There are only a handful of properties like this one. Our place is new, rustic, classy, and what you hope for in a place like Montana. Although we are in West Glacier, we are away from the train and nights are quiet.

Cozy, comfy, well-appointed cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a week in this cabin in August 2017. The interior and furnishings are all very tasteful and new, the kitchen is well supplied, the pots and pans are in good condition (unlike many other rentals we've stayed in!), the porch is delightful for relaxing, the towels and sheets are in good condition, and the beds are very comfortable. The ease of this cabin helped to make our vacation a success! To keep the cabin temp cool, just open the windows at night and close everything up in the morning before you head out for the day. Overall a wonderful spot.

Excellent location and clean home with all the amenities

  • 5 of 5

I would definitely stay at Hikers Cabin again if Inreturn to Glacier National Park. It is located on the West Entrance and has a restaurant and gas station and treats place to drive or even walk to from the cabin. Clean. Washer/dryer. Full kitchen with all the pots and pans and utensils required if you want to make your meals which we did.

Comfortable and perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Thanks so much for having us at your wonderful home. We had three generations (six people) stay very comfortably and were able to get into Glacier NP very early each of three days. The location so close to the Flathead was perfect as well and we enjoyed a quick float from the old bridge down to the takeout just beyond the house. Everything at the house was well stocked and comfortable. Thanks so much.

Very nice and clean and is in a very good location

  • 4 of 5

It was clean and vey well furnished. It looked new. The kitchen was well equipped. It is in a great location for people visiting Glacier National Park. The only drawback was the one full bath. A little bit awkward for 2 couples traveling together but just took some scheduling. We and our friends had a great time and would rent this cabin again if we come back to the area.

Wonderful cabin

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The kitchen was perfect...attractive, well functioning and it had everything we needed. There was ample space for the four of us to relax alone, socialize or watch tv. The front porch was a lovely place to relax and read a book and sip a local brew. We bbqd each night and had wonderful family dinners. This was a great place to stay and its location was perfect. Hope someday we can come back!

Perfect Location! Cabin is on golf course, Public trout fishing across the street with a 100 yard walk through the woods. We are away from the sounds of the train and still only one mile from West Glacier and the Park entrance.

In the Spring, road biking is very popular. Some roads in the park are open for biking only. For family bike trips, there is a paved bike path from West Glacier to Lake McDonald.
