First things first the views from this cottage were lovely, a highlight of our stay at Fairlight, however the rest of the cottage was disappointing and not representative of the photos on the website which seem slightly outdated. This is actually a large studio, its not separate rooms as the pictures suggest which is quite deceiving, the bed / sitting room and kitchen are all in the same room and the 'second bedroom' is actually a bed in the corner of the kitchen. The bathroom had a bad smell of drains coming from it which made it unusable and as it was close to the bed was quite off-putting. Additionally the cottage didn't feel very clean, there were hairs in the bathroom and lots of stains around the place, the cutlery and utensils were quite dirty too which wasn't great. Overall wasn't a place we felt very relaxed in, the 'complex' itself feels like the land that time forgot and is not very well looked after.

Had to review honestly as i do not feel photos represent this fairly online.

Quirky cottage in lovely surroundings

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Pixies Croft from 24th - 28th August, we being two adults, a 12 year old, 10 year old and our Maltese Terrier. The cottage is quirky and unusual, but very comfortable with everything you need for an enjoyable stay. We used the kitchen to its full potential and the dishwasher is an added bonus. Great having 2 bathrooms. The outdoor space is great and we got lucky with the weather. We made use of the tennis court and the boules area. We walked into Hastings through the country park which was gorgeous and offered fantastic views. Owner was lovely and said we could pick some of the Bramley apples from the tree, which we did.

A lovely relaxing getaway in gorgeous surroundings, ideal for dog owners, free range kids and adults too!

Weekend away with my grandson

  • 5 of 5

Weekend away with my grandson my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed staying for a long weekend in this property we visited camber Sands with my grandson and our dog. We also spent some time in Hastings we found that the cottage was very well equipped as I love to cook there was every utensil that I needed also the setting of the garden and the walk with the animals was lovely for all three of us I would highly recommend this property I have a cleaning and maintenance company and very fussy with cleanliness I would give this a rehydrating of cleanliness and every little thought has gone into detail to make your stay very pleasant I will most definitely return in the near future

Away from it all property

  • 5 of 5

Like staying in a luxury treehouse 😀 We loved this property and so did our dogs. Yes the drive down the access road is bumpy to say the least but that adds to the feeling that you are in the middle of nowhere.

Before arriving we were a bit concerned about the layout as our daughter was intending to stay for a couple of nights but the clever use of dividing doors and two bathrooms meant that we all had a bit of privacy when needed.

Good local cafe and easy access to the country park meant that all members of our party (inc two dogs) had a lovely relaxing break. Thank you Cecilia.

Location

Car: necessary

Fairlight is a coastal village in East Sussex under 2 hours from London, Heathrow & Gatwick airports, under one hour from Folkstone & Dover and less than half hour from Rye, Battle and Hastings. The cottage is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty with extensive country & sea views at the door step of the huge coastal National Country Park. Canber Sands and Winchelsea beaches are nearby. Take a walk through Battle Castle, the fire hills of Hastings, or the winding cobbled lanes of Rye. Just across the border of Kent is Tenterden, a town of elegance and has the attraction of the Chapel Down Winery. There are lovely villages and stately homes and gardens near by such as the world famous Sissinghurst Castle, Great Dixter and medieval Bodiam Castle. Take a picnic using the Kent & East Sussex Railway pulled by steam locomotive through the beautiful country side. Unwind the day in the tranquil environment of the cottage with its private meadows, gardens, terraces.
