Hemlock Creek Hollow is on the same rushing creek as we are and in a breath taking setting. Hemlock Creek Hollow is an approximate 10 minute walk from Running Bear Falls (or shorter if you follow the creek) and boasts stellar 5 star reviews.

If Running Bear Falls is not available for your preferred dates, we encourage you to check out Hemlock Creek Hollow (VRBO #1159678) as an alternative. We can assure that you will not be disappointed with either option.

Truly Enchanting!

  • 5 of 5

I booked Running Bear Falls to celebrate my Mom's 80th birthday. Needless to say, Mom was thrilled with her gift! Guests were my husband and our two puppies. We all had a blast. This home is off the beaten path, as stated in the description, and when you reach it, it's literally like entering another realm! The road to the cabin from Highway 19 has some beautiful views along the way ~ peaks and valleys and wildlife! In our three trips up and down Plott Balsam Road, we saw many chipmunks, an array of butterflies, and, much to our delight, a pileated woodpecker sitting on a split rail fence! We saw mountain laurel, mountain azaleas, pink flame, and many other plants and flowers. It was absolutely gorgeous. The cabin itself sits on what is the most beautiful piece of property I have ever had the pleasure of spending time on. The porch of the cabin faces a stunningly beautiful Hornbuckle Creek. The area had a lot of rain in the weeks prior to our visit, which made for a strong, bold, rushing stream! We all played in the creek, and my mom commented "This is the creek I have dreamed of playing in since I was a kid!". We spent a lot of time down by that lovely creek, and enjoyed every minute of it.

While in the cabin, we had all the comforts at home. The kitchen truly is a "cooks kitchen"! We didn't want to leave our own paradise, so our first morning there, we headed into Waynesville, went to Ingles, and ate all but one meal in the cabin and lacked for nothing. The knives were sharp, the pots and pans were all in great shape, there were plenty of utensils, the cabinet was loaded with every spice imaginable. It was so nice to be able to cook whatever we desired! The beds.....COMFY! Wow, I slept like a baby for 5 nights in a row.

In sum, if you desire to get away from it all in a mountain paradise, you need to book Running Bear Falls! You will be so glad you did!

The cabin was beautiful. Loved the stream running behind it and the seclusion. The kids enjoyed the smores making waiting for us at check in. The cabin was very clean and stocked with everything needed.

Peaceful Getaway In The Mountains

  • 5 of 5

When you enter the property, you just relax. The sounds of the stream and nature are so calming. The cabin is a great combination of rustic and comfortable. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. We arrived in a heavy downpour and were glad we had 4WD. Maggie Valley and Cherokee Village are 20 minutes away, Asheville is 45 minutes away, so options are many, in terms of restaurants and entertainment.

An all-around picture perfect mountain getaway

  • 5 of 5

Running Bear Falls is the ultimate getaway-- it was everything that my family and I could have ever imagined. The cabin was gorgeous and perfectly stocked.. anything and everything you could need was available. From Bluetooth speakers to a full stocked spice pantry, they have thought of everything. The decor is woodsy, sophisticated and cozy all at the same time. The best part by far is the creek and waterfall. It was safe enough that my three kids could wander and explore freely, something we've found rare in mountain cabins. Most of our afternoons were spent relaxing outdoors and enjoying the scenery. The cabin and creek is pretty well shaded too, making it cool even if temperatures in the city were high. The owner was awesome with his communication and the property manager was super helpful and kind, they're all very nice and honest people. We look forward to coming back in the future. These vacations are ones that the kids will value and treasure forever. Thank you!!

Perfect mountain getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our family loved staying here. The cabin was very clean and had a lot of room. The sound of the stream is one thing I will miss. My kids enjoyed having the stream right there and having the fire pit for making s'mores. The hot tub was a favorite for the cool mornings and nights. The cabin had everything we needed. All the games that were found in the cabin made for a fun family game night. The directions were easy to follow. We can't wait to come back. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin with our family!!

Had a great time.

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking for a tranquil, secluded setting, then this is it. However, if you are wanting majestic views from atop a mountain, this isn't for you. That being said, the view of the creek from the cabin, to me, was perfect. Some may be concerned about the road to the cabin, but I feel it was easy to navigate and actually kind of fun to drive. I would definitely stay again if ever in the area.
