Look East from the 3rd floor tower deck to see beautiful Lake Carillon. Look South from the 2nd floor Master Bedroom deck to see the sugar white sands and emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico...Or just stroll a few feet out the front door and take a dip at the luxurious lap pool...refreshingly cool in the summer and heated for use in the winter months.

What's that expression?...'A hard day at the beach is better than a good day anywhere else'...well, at Do-Dah Days all the days are good...in the cutest 2-bedroom 'sandcastle'(complete with 360-degree views from the bedroom tower and, yes, your own 'private sauna' as well...ready to enjoy...all just a 'hop, skip & jump' from the lake and pool, and a 'stone's throw'(less than 50 ft) from the beach.

There's a gazebo for relaxing while enjoying a cool beverage with family or friends, a grill for preparing sumptuous dinners, and those ever-present, swaying palm trees to while-away those wonderful 'Do-Dah Days' and nights at Carillon Beach.

Fantastic house!

Couldn't have been more pleased with our stay! Honestly, the pictures don't do it justice. And surprised that I hadn't read other reviewers mention the patio / porch with the swing and small table; we spent lots of time there enjoying the beautiful weather and wonderful neighbors! Close to grocery stores, drugstores and wine shops .. Everything you could need nearby! This is absolutely our new spring break spot!

Beautiful views and right across from the beach.

Loved Carillon and the location of house could not have been better. Enjoyed our stay. The bell tower is a great addition to the community. Rented bikes and really enjoyed the use of the beach chairs. The weather was pretty chilly for April. Thank you for sharing your house with us.

We had a great trip!

House is in a great loaction to pool and beach. Top floor bedroom has an amazing view. We all enjoyed using the sauna. Great place for 4-5 people.

OK at best

HomeAway kept bugging us for a review - which I have resisted - until now. For perspective, we've stayed at a dozen or more Carillon properties so our comments are influenced by our prior experiences. We love going to Carillon.


(1) We were directly across the street from the walkover to the beach. That was nice.

(2) The owner was responsive and nice when we were reserving the rental and our deposit came back promptly.


(1) Size and configuration. The interior was tiny and chopped up. Not very functional. Kitchen, island eating area and living area were small and on the bottom floor. No kitchen pantry. That floor also had a bath. Up a 6 or 8 stairs or so was a sauna. Not used by us. Up 6 or 8 more steps was the master bedroom. Small balcony that faced the lot next door where they were building a house. Not much of a view there unless you liked greeting the construction workers and when it is finished you will be looking out at someone's house. You do have somewhat of a view from the "balcony" if you look out toward the beach a bit. Up another 6 or 8 stairs and there is a bathroom. That's all. Up another 6 or 8 stairs and you are in the "loft" bedroom - big enough for a couple of twin beds with a tiny balcony. You can get a small chair on that balcony if you orient it sideways. That is where the best view of the beach is but it is difficult to enjoy due to the size and almost impossible for 2 people to enjoy at the same time.

(2) Maintenance. The property is obviously very tired. The stove door had to be slammed shut and tugged (big time) to open because the catch was not adjusted; the pots/pans/utensils were low-grade and selection haphazard; door to the washer/dryer (in the kitchen) was falling off; outside furniture could have used some cleaning, and the hose in front (to spray off sand) was cracked and sprayed you all over (not just where pointed) when used.

(3) Environment. As I noted above, we were immediately next to a house under construction, so you might as well plan on being up at 7:00 and having plenty of commotion until 5:00.

(4) Cost. Let's just say that, for the price, we expected a much nicer, better maintained property. Also, I believe renters should be warned about the construction, or the house taken off the market, until construction is finished.

The property worked OK for my wife and me. Thank goodness there were only 2 of us. If you have more than 4 people, don't even consider this one

Owner's Response: My head is reeling from this review! In all my 10+ years of renting our home, I've never received a review like this. I've never misrepresented our home. I'm sorry that this renter disliked it so much. I never heard a word of complaint from them during their stay. The one thing I have no control over is construction next door. I rely on the satisfaction of my repeat guests to guide me. Please read my other reviews before being swayed by this one.
