'La Parisienne', on the fourth floor with a lift, is a one-bedroom 42 square meter apartment designed by an Italian architect with the décor chosen by one of Australia's top interior designer. It has the highest quality appliances including a Miele dishwasher and Samsung 360 degree high fidelity music/tv speaker as well as high quality cookwear, silver cutlery, Gien crockery, linen sheets made by nuns(!), designer lighting and everything you need for a luxury holiday in Paris.
There is a market and metro stop a stone's throw from the apartment with three metro stations and lines within five minutes walk. Right in the heart of the art district of Paris. Gare du Nord (direct line to CDG airport) is 10 minutes by foot.
No expense has been spared on furnishing this treasure of an apartment, from the original paintings, drawings and other art work, Farrow and Ball painted walls, original art nouveau coffee table, hand embroidered silk curtains and genuine oriental rugs to the antique dining table and lamps (there are 4 in the loungeroom alone) , the apartment has attention to detail at every turn.
Apartments overlooking parks are rare in Paris and the window above this one lets in loads of sun all year round. You can just see the top of the Eiffel Tower lit up on the hour at night and, if you lean out the window, Sacre Coeur is just up the hill. There is a fresh gourmet food market alongside the park on Fridays.
Although located in the 9th, the apartment borders the 18th and is just a short walk away from the artistic heart of Paris, Montmartre, with it's fabulous designer clothes and jewellery shops. Moulin Rouge and the theatre district of Pigalle is one metro stop or five minutes walk away. For more information about the area, see the Easyjet magazine feature article (June 2013) about Pigalle (5 mins walk) being the most hip place in Paris of the moment
There is also an open air tourist route bus stop almost outside the door, which takes you to every major tourist attraction in Paris, including the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Seine, Arch de Triomphe, Pompidou Centre and other major art galleries and museums.
Paris' art and theatre action is across the huge boulevarde on one end of the park, while the 9th arondissment itself has become the gentrified home of Parisian film makers and writers. It has trendy restaurants and the famous Rue des Martyrs and Rue Lepic has some of the best gourmet food shops in Paris.

Have you’ve ever heard the phrase “it’s a little jewellery box” ? Well this apartment surely is! A bright, well equipped, lovely interior with that truly authentic parisian mood we were looking for. Superb location! The apartment is facing a nice court and you can see the metro station. Even you can see the top of the Eiffel tower from the living area. Bakeries, restaurants and cafeterias are simply just down the street. Moulin Rouge is a 5 minute walk. Despite the busy area, the bedroom window is facing the buildings inner court, so it is dead quiet for even a bad sleeper like myself. Barbara is exceptionally kind and helpful, she really does care to make your staying perfect in her flat. We had an amazing time there. Just can’t wait to go back ! I honestly recommend her apartment to anyone! Oliver
At the end of the day, it's easy to relax in our modern artistic apartment with a full bath - a rarity in Paris apartments. You've got all modern conveniences, highspeed internet, free international phone to contact home, cable TV, DVD (all zones).
Inside the apartment is spacious and elegant. Extra leaves of the antique dining table make it comfortable for six. The Italian Marmarino bathroom with bath is luxurious and the gourmet kitchen inspires you to cook.
The apartment is owned by Australian author Barbara Biggs, who often visits to write by the chair in front of the window. The spot where she wrote her third book, The Accidental Renovator: A Paris Story, which is about the apartment, it's renovation and the eccentric Parisians she met during 2004 when she lived in La Parisienne for seven months to renovate it. For more information see author's website - see links to 'more information' or google.
Please be aware that the cleaning fee is not included in any quotes because it must be left in cash for the cleaner. It's 50 euros if you don't use the sofa bed and 65 if you do.

I'm a writer and have written three books at the window in the apartment. One is The Accidental Renovator: A Paris Story, the armchair travel book about how I 'accidentally' bought the apartment after the heat wave in 2003 and, against all the best advice, insisted on renovating (think gutting!) it.
I visit my apartment every year, but mostly live in Sydney and Melbourne Australia.
I'm setting up a business model to provide an income stream for the Social Change Foundation (think child protection) charity I'm setting up.
Otherwise, I love beautiful properties and places.

I didn't want to be right in a tourist area, but rather in a place where Parisians hang out. This place provides the best of both because, if you turn right outside the apartment buiding, there's the tourist area of Montmartre across the big Boulevarde at the end of the park outside my window. If you turn left and go down the hill, there are no tourists at all (they're all heading up to Sacre Coeur)! this is where there are loads of fab restaurants, cafes and boulangeries - all frequented not by tourists but by locals. There's also a fresh food market outside the door, which you don't tend to get in tourist areas.
You get to live like a local. The kitchen is superb and you'll want to cook in it. the proportions and aesthetic feel are to die for :)
This is a great little flat in a fantastic area. Location was even better than described - just minutes from amazing bakeries, boutiques and coffee shops. When we stayed there was an incredible food market followed but a great antiques market the next day. Barbara was a lovely host, very flexible and accommodating.
This is a very lovely apartment, very well designed and beautifully furnished and very well-appointed. It was such a pleasure to stay here. The location is perfect, very close to metros and excellent restaurants, with a beautiful park right across the street.
I would be so very happy to stay here again and again.
The apartment is charming, cozy and welcoming. It faces onto a park and has a nice view and lots of light. The area is a nice mix of tourist interests (with Sacre Cour and Montmartre just a short walk) and local atmosphere (including a charming Friday Market on the street directly across from the apartment). The 10 minute walk to the Gare du Nord makes it perfect for a Eurostar visit from London. And Ms. Biggs is a lovely landlady who was a pleasure to deal with.
The location can't be beat-just a few blocks from Sacre Coeur and and easy walk to Gare du Nord. Barbara was very responsive and gave us some wonderful ideas regarding places to eat.
The apartment is cozy and charming and everything you need is there. Really a nice area. Wonderful stay.
We spent eight days at La Parisienne and had a wonderful time. The apartment was well equipped with everything we needed. We loved the neighborhood, filled with many young French couples and very few tourists. We quickly found our favorite spots for coffee and pastries and there are many excellent restaurants within walking distance. The Metro is close by for visiting all the sites. We would love to return for another stay!
We stayed in this apartment for 1 week in August. It was clean and welcoming with everything we needed. It was quite spacious with a separate lounge room, well equipped kitchen & bedroom. It also has a full sized bath and a lift which is not always the case in Paris. The location is excellent as it is just across the road from Anvers subway station and bus stop that goes to Champs Elyeesee & Eiffel Tower. It is walking distance from Sacre Couer and Moulin Rouge. I can highly recommend this apartment.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Barbara's well-kept apartment and only wished we could have stayed longer. The apartment is delightfully decorated and it's very comfortable. The location is perfect for easy transportation and/or walking, yet it allows you to feel that you are living in a real Parisian neighborhood. We walked to many wonderful restaurants and enjoyed sitting in the park across the way, soaking up the atmosphere. Barbara was very responsive and easy to work with. We hope to return!
Close to markets, Moulin Rouge and theatre district, restaurants, Tourist route bus stop, gourmet food shops. Their is also a small view of the Eiffel Tour (Eiffel Tower) just above the building opposite the park so you know you're in Paris!
