A second floor apartment with great views of Mont Blanc and 5 balconies

This is a wonderful 100m² apartment. It comes with three bedrooms and is located on the Rue Paccard in the very centre of Chamonix. It can sleep up to eight people in comfort.

It is on the 2nd floor of the old Hotel Lutetia (lift access) and has retained its beautiful arched doors and the wood panelling. It is deliberately kept in its original style to blend in with this old building.

It has one Double, one twin bedroom and one bedroom with two bunk bed units. It has a large and very comfortable antique lounge, complete with an open fireplace, family crest and a stained glass window. There is a separate kitchen, toilet and bathroom. There are 5 balconies facing to three sides of this apartment, south looking directly at Mt Blanc, east looking onto the town and the Aiguilles Rouges and west looking onto Brevant.

This is a very comfortable family apartment where you will feel instantly at home and relaxed. There are lots of books and games for kids. Wifi has been newly installed. It has unlimited hot water, central heating and secure private garage parking (€40.00/week extra).

This is in the very centre of Chamonix, on the main street in the pedestrian zone, wonderfully located for all the shops, bars and restaurants. The bus stop for free transfers to all the ski areas is just two minutes walk away.

The rental price includes linen, towels, final cleaning and holiday taxes.

We like to personally check-in our customers and aim to greet you when you arrive in Chamonix. If this is not possible we will give you a detailed explanation in order for you to self check-in. We will always be contactable in the event a problem may arise and will try to meet you before you leave Chamonix. If a late check-in (after 9pm) is unavoidable then a €30.00 late check-in fee may be charged.

We do take a €200.00 deposit on booking which also acts as your damage waiver which will be returned to you shortly after you leave.

Great location, apartment is just OK

I've been to Chamonix many times, and it is one of the best mountain locations in the world. Most of the time I have stayed in a hotel. In typical European fashion, they are generally small, but serviceable. I have used VRBO (or equivalent) many times, so I was comfortable with the process.

This particular unit is well situated in town. A quick walk to everything. Others pluses include: it is fairly large; has a nice area for dining; and the Internet actually works! Now the not so good news: the apartment needs a remodel - badly. It would be difficult to cook anything in the kitchen given the equipment. The walls need paint; the floors need to be redone; the bathroom shower is taped together. The furniture is IKEA cheap, and not in the best of shape. And be prepared for late night noise, as the Bar is located directly below - and they won't be closing until after Midnight.

So absolutely, positively visit Chamonix. It is a magical distinction both summer and winter. But I would not recommend this apartment, until the owner actually reinvests in making the place cleaner, more modern, and updates the furniture.

Nice apartment but let down by the kitchen

The property has a great location and has good access to all the facilities, secure parking is good and where the property has been updated it is in good condition.

However, the kitchen is unacceptable. It would appear to have never been updated since it was first put in, the sink was regularly blocked and backed up with foul smelling water, this was clearly a regular occurrence as a plunger was on hand in the cupboard underneath. When we brought this to attention of the property manager he did try and rectify the issue, alas this consisted of putting a chemical into the system which failed to unblock the sink but did manage to make the whole apartment smell awful of a sulphurous odour. Furthermore the oven, microwave and fridge / freezer were well past their sell buy date! As to the cooking / frying pans and utensils most were unusable and we had to ask that we were provided with basic oven dishes in order to cook. If we were a couple which were planning on eating out every night this would be less of a problem but as we are a family with children we purposefully chose an apartment whereby we could cook evening meals rather than endure the added expense of dining out.

In all the property is OK - in our opinion not value for money as in comparison our friends rented a more traditional property out of the centre and seemed to get an awful lot more (and more modern) property and facilities for their money.

Additional points, the main lounge area (as pictured) only has one small radiator, we found this simply was not sufficient to heat a room of this size, as a result our children complained that they were cold.

The ensuite in bedroom had a terrible odour of backed up drains (probably connected to the kitchen sink issue!) and worse the door lock managed to lock our children in the bathroom on two occasions? - slightly concerning.

Finally we did see a TV listed on the facilities on the web page, this consisted of an 18 inch screen TV which was not connected to any aerial, consequently no channels are available, this was a problem to our 10 and 7 year olds!

This is a nice apartment, in a great location if you are a single man or couple which have no interest in spending any time actually in the property.

Very spacious, great value apartment

A very attractive apartment with great views and centrally located. We were a party of six and it was really comfortable. Plenty of space, so would be good for eight people too, or for two families. The best thing was the extremely spacious sitting/dining room which was fantastic for us, having older kids, as ski apartments can be so cramped sometimes. This was the opposite. Plenty of heating and hot water too. Kitchen could be updated - new pots and pans/utensils perhaps - and better ski storage (this was a bit haphazard) but minor gripes. I will definitely book this again next year.
