About the property

At first sight, Florencia's Home appears to be just another vintage home, however, hidden inside there are wonders to behold!

Behind the centuries-old façade lives an adventure, a story, a classic Spanish history, rich with beauty and mystery to be discovered and experienced. Built long ago, by hand, stone placed upon ancient stone, Florencia's Home invites you to visit, welcomes you inside to experience a unique and wonderful intimacy, visit her and you will get to know the warmth of spirit and rich history that resides within her walls.

The first floor of the house was originally a workshop primarily used for the construction and repair of the carriages used by the common people of Castilla -La Mancha, where the building is located.

For more than 250 years, five generations of my family have lived in the house and have left evidence of their lives and experiences in this antique structure, which is now our own, newly renovated home.

The initial construction was very simple. On the first floor you will find a common area which was designed to be a kitchen and eating area, a bedroom, the grain storage room and/or barn, a wine cellar, stables and a patio. One hundred plus years ago, the house underwent multiple changes which better suited the needs of the occupants of past eras many of which have been restored and remain to this day. Consequently, you will find multiple levels within The House of Florence which create a surprising and interesting glimpse into the past history of the home, it's previous occupants and it’s construction.

The current house is primarily focused on a design which features two floors plus a loft. The ground floor houses a bedroom, dining area, kitchen, bathroom and cellar pantry. Meanwhile the second floor features a salon room with a fireplace, four bedrooms (one located in the barn), bathroom and a mezzanine library.

Maintaining all the architectural elements which define The House of Florence as unique building has been key to the rehabilitation project. Traveling upstairs by way of a long wide staircase which is supported by the 'Catalan vault', ends in front of an impressive fireplace. An unusual and surprising French design was painted using an ancient technique of lime stucco, an artistic wonder not usually found in a classic, antique Spanish home. The ceramic cistern built under the foundations of the house, while filling with rainwater, offers a curious and unexpected musical effect. There is also a small cellar pantry which houses large earthenware pots of wine from around the early 1800’s. There is portion of a cave, which is part of a secret route, a journey which leads to the village church. It was from the digging of this cave that many of the building materials were obtained for the original build and also the restoration of the House of Florence The restoration was surely worth our effort, the work has paid off as we have created a home with truly amazing ambience, a combination of the original historic home melded with today’s modern conveniences. I'm sure you'll agree it was worth the time and effort!

Florencia's Home features much natural light, high ceilings and many special touches. You will find your own unique space here with cozy surroundings which invite that special and peaceful vacation experience.
