About the property

Villa with Private Pool, up to 9 Guests; plus Outhouse up to 14 Guests

Villa Teresa boasts elegant, spacious interiors that have been lovingly realized and furnished by its owners. Outside is a fabulous private pool, immersed in mature, beautifully designed private gardens of 3.500 square meters offering views of Mt. Etna and of the Ionian sea.

The main entrance takes you in a spacious glass porch from which you can enjoy a view over the pool and the Volcano. One side of the porch is equipped with a kitchenette, a BBQ and a dining area equipped with an extendable wooden table and 12 chairs. A lounge area equipped with LCD TV 42" accesses the main kitchen and the dining room on one side, and the sleeping quarters on the other: three spacious, comfortable double bedrooms (two of which with en-suite bathrooms), and a triple bedroom, a bathroom and an utility room. Two of the double bedrooms access a private terrace with views of the Ionian sea as far as Catania and Taormina. Two bedrooms access the open side of the porch, equipped with a large wrought-iron table, a wicker sofa and two armchairs, overlooking the swimming pool. Each room is equipped with independent hot\cold air conditioners and screen doors.

In front of the Villa, beside the pool, there is a charming, spacious Outhouse with three bedrooms, a bathroom and a living room with kitchen.

The main villa has a maximum sleeping capacity of 9 people.

The Outhouse offers 5 sleeps and is available at an additional price (depending on number of guests).

The Property is ONLY EVER rented to one group or family at a time, so the Outhouse is vacant when Guests do not require it.

The bathroom in the Outhouse is always available for Guests using the pool, even if they get the main villa only. The entire property can accommodate up to 14 people. Baby beds (up to two in the main villa plus one in the dependance) and highchairs are available at no additional charge.

The caretaker lives in the basement, which has a private entrance and no shared space with the Guests' area. He accesses the area around the pool early in the morning or late evening, for ordinary pool cleaning and grass watering, and will be available for any requirement.

Our Guests can be assured that during their stay they will have total privacy and exclusive use of the garden and pool.

Villa Teresa lies only 500 metres away from Santa Venerina, a village famed for the production of sweets, wine and liqueurs. In the village, just 5 minutes walking distance, there are good restaurants, supermarkets and shops.

This quiet, landscaped village offers a number of relaxing activities which can be booked from the property: wine tours, massage, tennis and horse riding.

You can also book guided tours to Mt Etna, Taormina and the marine reserve of Aci Trezza. The owners will be available for any tips on the area during your stay.

Santa Venerina is an excellent base from which to explore eastern Sicily, thanks to its very strategic position halfway between Catania and Taormina. The village is 5 minutes drive from the highway A18 Catania-Messina from which (in an average time of 20 minutes) you can reach the most beautiful places of Eastern Sicily, such as Taormina, Alcantara Gorge, Catania, Acicastello, Acireale, Etna, Giardini Naxos...

The charming baroque town of Acireale is only 15 km away from Santa Venerina. It is situated next to the 'Riviera dei Ciclopi', a unique coast with a crystal clear sea and lava stacks (Faraglioni) which is believed by Greek mythology to correspond to the stones thrown by blind Polifemo to Ulysses. The Riviera traditional resort towns of Acicastello and Acitrezza have long been a magnet for local day trips and offer arguably the best Granita to be found anywhere and lots of good seafood trattorias. Catania, with its rich architectural heritage, its vibrant markets, restaurants and shops, is only 30 minutes away from the village.

The east coast Ionian Riviera has some of Sicily's most picturesque pebbly and sandy beaches including those of Isola Bella, Giardini Naxos and Letojanni (below Taormina). Santa Venerina is just 25 km from Gardini Naxos and 30 km (20 minutes with the highway) from Taormina, which draws more visitors than any other town in Sicily, thanks to its splendid position, its elegant shops, and its Graeco-Roman theatre with a unique view of Mount Etna. Torre Archirafi, Pozzillo and Santa Maria la Scala are pleasant seaside villages near Santa Venerina. The nearest beaches can be found in Praiola, Stazzo and Pozzillo (8 km).

Santa Venerina is also an excellent starting point from which to explore Mount Etna and its surroundings. The towns and villages that dot the flanks of Etna, such as Zafferana Etnea, Trecastagni and Randazzo, are well worth stopping off for a visit to their seventeenth century churches built in lava stone or for a spot of lunch in restaurants offering delicious local products. The village is only 4 km away from Zafferana Etnea and 10 km from Rifugio Sapienza, the main ski area, where you can take the Etna cableway, up to the main craters.

The sun of Sicily holds the record in Europe and maintains a mild climate throughout the year. Spring is the ideal time to enjoy the culture and nature that this island has to offer. It’s well worth making a trip just to experience the Easter processions, bringing together folklore and tradition in an incredibly mystic way.

The interior is spectacular, with the mountain slopes exploding in colour, while on the coast the first bathers start taking to the beaches.

In autumn, throughout October and mid-November, the sea water is still warmed by the summer sun, and the daytime temperature still reaches 30°c during the warmest hours. Many towns around Etna organize festivals dedicated to local products such as wine, mushrooms and sweets.

The villa suitable for winter, Christmas and New Year. The weather between December and March can often be mild and sunny, but the villa offers good heating systems, wi-fi and plenty of indoor space just in case!

About Fabio Monaco/Nadia Monaco

Hi there! My name is Nadia. I graduated in Foreign Langueges and Literatures in 2011 and I'm a teaching assistant since 2013. My brother Fabio has lived and worked in Stockholm for a few years as a sound engineer before moving back to Sicily in 2014. Although cultivating an unbridled passion for travel I have always been living in Sicily, where my parents Angelo and Maria Teresa ( a builder and a landscape architect, respectively) teamed up to realize our little paradise.

Why Fabio Monaco/Nadia Monaco chose Catania

My father bought our property in 1986. He was enchanted by the beauty of that vast plot of land cultivated with vineyards and citrus groves that offered an unrivaled view and that, despite being in the countryside, was so well connected to neighboring towns.

On the property was a lovely winery that, once restored, became our home for a few years. Villa Teresa was built between 1988 and 1995, with great dedication and extreme care for details. My family and I lived there until 2010.

We share our property with genuine passion, aware and proud of the uniqueness of this place. Guests enjoy total privacy and breathtaking Mt. Etna and sea views in a relaxing natural setting, between palm trees, flowers and fruit trees.

What makes this villa unique

The luxury villa, garden and pool have been designed and built by my parents Angelo and Maria Teresa.

The furnishings, parquet and finishes in wood, lava stone and terracotta have been chosen with great care. The beautiful handcrafted wooden doors and parquet are made of Afrormosia, an exotic hardwood among the most valuable in the world.

The property is ideally situated and the layout was ideal for our family, with small children.

  • 4 of 5

The owners were very hospital and kept the pool well cleaned each day and gave useful local advice. We enjoyed our two weeks at Villa Theresa very much. However, WIFI connection was intermittent and kitchen and kitchen facilities were limited for the number of occupants.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your positive review, I'm pleased that you have enjoyed your stay at my rental villa. As you were notified on arrival, I confirm that the problem to the free wi-fi connection was due to the phone company upgrading from ADSL to the optical fiber. I am sorry for the temporary disservice and I'm glad to inform you that the upgrade has been successfully completed. As well as the main inner kitchen the property offers a summer kitchen and BBQ located in the glass porch. They are equipped with large refrigerator, dishwasher, mixer, toaster, filter coffee maker, two electric ovens and a microwave. The dining areas are very spacious and equipped with two 12-seat wooden tables and a 8-seat wrought iron table. The villa has always been provided with all kinds of containers, cups and glasses (tea cups, cereal bowls, egg-cups, beer mugs etc) We recently doubled all cooking equipment from 12 to 24 piece sets. We strive to offer our guests a perfect stay so any suggestion is always welcome. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon! Best regards, Nadia

Fantastic villa and pool in a great location close to Santa Venerina, the coast and Mt Etna

  • 5 of 5

The Monaco family were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The villa is a beautiful home from home with lovely gardens and a stunning pool to swim and play in. The local area is so interesting, Santa Venerina is a lovely town with a fantastic cafe, Russo - not to miss, good shops for local cheese and meats and lots of places to eat and have gelato and coffee. Mt Etna is only 40 minutes drive and such a fascinating area to walk and explore, we went with Etna Experience, highly recommended. The coast is only 30 minutes drive and the rocky Aci Trezza and pebbly beach at Letojanni are great.

The villa comfortably accommodated our family of 9 and we used the outdoor kitchen and super barbecue to cook lots of meals. The view across the pool to the top of Mount Etna and its ever-changing smoke patterns was a delight.

Thank you Nadia and Fabio. We loved your villa and Sicily.

Lovely relaxing 2 weeks in Sicily

  • 4 of 5

We have just spent 2 weeks in a lovely large house in a beautiful setting in secluded mature gardens with wonderful views out to the sea and behind up to Etna. The large swimming pool was perfect for keeping the children entertained and the temperature ideal. The house is perfectly situated for Catania airport, trips to Etna and Taormina. There are a couple of lovely restaurants within walking distance (15 mins) and a children’s play area. The house is comfortable and there is plenty of space for a large family. Nadia is a very attentive host, on hand to help with anything and and nothing is too much trouble. Thank you Nadia!

Amazing home and fantastic service!

  • 5 of 5

Wow! What an amazing experience. We travelled through Italy on a family trip and finished out trip in Sicily. We wanted to make sure our final stop was the best and we definitely got that at Villa Teresa! Everything was perfect from the home to the location as well as the service from the owner. The were attentive to every need and question we had and were very helpful with local knowledge and advise. I would recommend this place to anyone! The pool, the orchids, the wonderful garden, the spacious, clean, large home and view of Etna just made it perfect.

To Nadia, thank you for making our once in a lifetime holiday absolutely perfect. Good luck with everything in the future.

Beautiful property with stunning views!

  • 4 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful holiday here. We arrived late afternoon and were welcomed by the family and quickly settled in. The children couldn't resist a late swim in the pool which was a really good size for me and four children. The views to Etna were obscured a little by cloud but the next morning I was totally taken aback by the beautiful view of Etna in one direction and the coast in the other...stunning! The villa was clean and spacious and we quickly relaxed and felt totally at home. In fact we were so relaxed that we really didn't stray far but ate out a few times in Santa Venerina and managed a day trip to Etna. For the more active the villa is well located for lots of day trips. However, we were happy to lie in the sun and make full use of the pool. I would definitely recommend this villa to friends and family. We had a fantastic holiday and look forward to going back one day.

It was an excellent choice!

Dear Nadia

First of all I’d like to thank you for the familiar hospitality in Villa Teresa. As you know, we stayed for one week with my wife, sister and brother in law in the small but very friendly village Santa Venerina. From there we could visit lots of beautiful places in Sicilia. Of course we had to rent a car at the airport.

Villa Teresa is really elegant and spacious. The mediterranean property surrounded by a huge garden with swimming pool, rich orchards, olive trees, flowers and silent footpaths were wonderful. From the north-west side of the house we saw Mountain Etna and from the other side of the Villa we had an extreme view to the coastline from Taormina to Catania.

Dear Angelo, Maria Teresa, Fabio, Dario & Nadia,

Please allow me to congratulate you for the simply wonderful property, and the family-run operation and services. We recommend truly your villa for all guests who want to spend a holiday in a luxury surroundings.

Gábor
