This chic London vacation rental is found moments from Hyde Park. Stylishly decorated and ideally located in an upmarket residential area. There is an exquisitely decorated open-plan living and dining area with table to seat four guests. The adjoining kitchen is equipped with all modern conveniences.

The charming master bedroom is complete with a UK king-size bed (5ft wide) and contemporary en-suite with shower/bath combination, basin and WC. There is a further washroom in the hall with basin and lavatory.

This home is located in the fourth floor, with access via elevator. Once inside, all rooms are set across one floor.

Lovely apartment with some caveats

We are a California couple who love to get to know a city. We had 13 nights at Queens Gate and overall would recommend this apartment.

The pluses: spotless and well-maintained, spacious, good amenities including washer/dryer, instant hot water dispenser in kitchen, dishwasher, well equipped with plenty of dishes, glassware and utensils, elevator, extra half bathroom, large tub with shower. The apartment was larger than we anticipated!

Why it isn't a 5 * star: The WiFi is spotty and unbearably slow. The bedroom faces Queens Gate, which is a busy street. There is noticeable street noise, both from cars and Imperial College students. Light sleepers should be aware of this. The windows are not soundproof. There is very limited storage. One closet in the bedroom, and the vacuum cleaner and linens take up half of the closet floor. There is one dresser with three very shallow full drawers and 2 very shallow half drawers. The drawers don't open smoothly. The coat hooks in the entry were limited, so if you have umbrellas, rain coats, etc there is very little space to store them. The tenants in the apartment across the hall smoke cigars and the odor was very strong many evenings. The elevator works fine, but frequently tenants seemed not to close both doors which prevented it from responding. Fortunately we had to walk down more often than up!

Location: A10 minute walk to three museums. 1/2 mile to the Gloucester Street Station ( Piccadilly and District/Circle Line. Convenient to Gloucester Road local shops and restaurants but this is clearly a residential neighborhood. if you are planning to go to theater and enjoy high-end dining, you will be on the tube, bus or Uber every night.

Ivy Lettings was very professional to deal with in advance, promptly responding to email communication, sending reminder notices, etc. Our only disappointment in dealing with them was that the representative who met us at the apartment seemed extremely rushed and not particularly knowledgeable about the neighborhood. She basically handed us the keys, the notebook with info, showed us the layout of the apartment and left within 5 minutes of our arrival.

Our overall experience was positive and for the price, a great place to call home while in London.

Whatever your plans in London there is a huge variety of sites, restaurants and activities all within striking distance.For a friendly local pub try The Blackbird. Or if you are in the mood for something a little more bohemian then check out the world-famous Troubadour.This place has a well-deserved reputation for its fantastic cocktails, character and live music- the Mumford and Sons played here only a few years ago.

Maybe take in Christie's, the globally renowned auction house, located just half a mile away. Countless legendary lots have passed through here including Audrey Hepburn’s timeless black dress from the all-time classic Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and 20 of Elton John’s cars! The Thames, Battersea Park and Hyde Park are only a little further afield as well as the Albert Hall and the Victoria and Albert Museum. London’s most fashionable streets for shopping are also within easy reach.

This Kensington apartment is perfect for couples looking for a chic and central London vacation rental. From here strong transport links connect you to the rest of the city, and you are a quick walk from Hyde Park and a short tube or bus journey to Notting Hill, Sloane Square and Chelsea.

Royal Gardens

Kensington Palace, home to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, is surrounded by acres of beautiful parkland. Lay out a rug in front of the Palace gates and enjoy one of the best picnic spots in London. From Kensington High Street, walk up Kensington Palace Gardens - known as Billionaire's Row - and admire the Embassy mansions and private homes of the uber-wealthy. Take high tea (with or without Champagne) at the Kensington Orangery for the full English experience.


The Deli Bar makes a great full English breakfast. Kensington Square Kitchen is a very pretty brunch spot that celebrates British, seasonal produce. Tom's Kitchen, run by celebrity chef Tom Atkins, is another institution of British cooking and makes extraordinarily fluffy pancakes.

Lunch & Dinner

For a great bistro with a relaxed atmosphere, try Chez Patrick. Balan's of Earls Court has one of the best Sunday lunches in London. We also recommend 222 Veggie Vegan for plentiful, award-winning food.

Pubs and Bars

There's almost too many good pubs in the area. Our favourite are The Colton Arms, The Drayton Arms, The Queen's Arms or The Abingdon for a typically British local pub experience. If you want more than pint, the Harwood Arms serves Michelin starred food.

For a taste of the high-life head to Babylon at the Roof Gardens, 100m above Kensington High Street.


High Street Kensington has it all - department stores, major fashion labels and smaller boutiques tucked away up side streets.
