What an ideal vacation spot! My partner and I just got back and I'm ready to schedule our next booking. "Tiny Logs" has one of the best views I've seen, and the hot tub is the perfect place to take it in. Sunrise each morning was glorious. The house had just the right amenities, such as bathrobes and a rainshower, and is remote enough that we truly felt away from the bustle. The bedroom downstairs was plenty dark for sleeping in. The grill is pretty new and we loved using it. Plus, when we had an issue, Tim and Erika were available right away to help us fix it.
Bring lots of books and board games! Walking through the nature preserve at the end of the road gave us more great views. Harpers Ferry made for a fun day of bike riding and beers, and Lot 12 Public House in Berkley Springs was delicious for a celebratory dinner.
Some minor issues, but the view and the solitude more than made up for it.
No view could ever be compared to this place. The place could use a little TLC and some more attention/use. Not sure how long it stays empty, it could have to do with the location, but that was one of the major bonuses for us. The issues we did have the owner was very responsive to help resolve, if she could. We highly recommend this place, but don't assume the place have all of what you need to cook or tidy up. We now know what we need and will be back!!
Great getaway with fantastic views!
Just what you see in the pictures! No frills but clean and attentive when communicating about details. We will definitely be coming back!!
Late Summer Getaway
My boyfriend and I rented the cabin for the weekend as an alternative to the crowded beaches in Maryland/Delaware. We knew from the pictures that the views from the deck would be great, but they were even more spectacular than we could've imagined. The cabin was very nice and clean when we arrived. We stopped at a grocery store on the way up so that we wouldn't have to venture out later that night. After settling in, we enjoyed the night views and hottub. The cabin doesn't have central air, but the air conditioning unit worked great. We were comfortable for the entire weekend. We brought a laptop with movies on it to watch in bed at night. The basement bedroom was nice and cool every night, so we slept down there. The bathroom was nicely updated (shower is amazing!) and even had a few toiletries if you happened to forget something. On saturday, we went to the town of Berkely Springs. It's a small town, but there is a great olive oil shop that has some very friendly and knowledgable owners. We bought a few items to marinade our dinner with for later that night on the grill. Do make sure to check out the Antique Mall and the state park. It's a really neat little town. We loved it and Instagramed a lot of pictures :)
Thanks for the great review, and so glad you had a nice time (and avoided crowded beaches)!
Great girls getaway!
My best gal pal and I had a wonderful summer weekend here. We loved hanging out on the porch and enjoying the view, and sitting in the hot tub (set at a lovely 92 degrees for the summer), and inside when the rain poured down. It's sized just right for a couple of besties, and we're hoping to go back!
The owner was super-responsive, too. When we arrived, the house hadn't been cleaned, due to a communications mix-up. But we called the owner, and she not only had someone stop by that evening, she even gave me a partial refund for the inconvenience. Thanks Erika! We'll be back!
Can't wait to return
We just returned from an amazing time at this chalet. As everyone else mentioned, the views can't be beat! The deck, hot tub, and view are perfect, and we loved how quiet it was there. The inside was very comfortable also. We barely used the living area, but the couch seemed comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed, and I was grateful for the thorough and accurate descriptions of what we'd find so we knew what to take with us...and take what you need because it's a trip to get to a grocery store. The downstairs bed was comfortable and the bathroom was as nice as described. Erika and Tim were extremely responsive before our stay and also when we had trouble locating something in the chalet. They contacted us right away to make sure everything was good. We went during the week, which made it especially quiet on the mountain. We didn't see anyone on our hikes, and The Woods golf course was pretty empty and a great deal...lunch there was good also if you don't want to fix all your own meals. As others mentioned, I wouldn't want to share this space with anyone who wasn't a close friend or family because the bedroom areas aren't very private, but it could be great for a family as long as you don't have young kids (the stairs are steep). As described, there's no internet (which makes it more of a getaway), and our phones (Verizon) didn't work well either, but good enough to get a call or email out when we needed...with a little patience. This is a true getaway, and we had to extend our stay by a day because we really didn't want to leave! Thanks for sharing your little piece of heaven.
