About Cristina Bisa

My parents summer apartment, 'pied dans l'eau'.

Restored in 2010 for family use.

Totally new shower rooms and kithchen.

Cristina Bisa purchased this apartment in 2009

Why Cristina Bisa chose Cinque Terre

Because it's a unique piece in a unique place.

Because this apartment is authentic, as its ceiling painted by the owner in mid '800, and it's in Vernazza, the most beautifull of 5 Terre villages; because it's in the hart of the village, on the square front sea, on the beach.

What makes this apartment unique

To be in the hart of the 5 Terre, in the most authentic and preserved village, in a fantastic sea location as well in the middle of the path links to Monterosso and Corniglia, 2 minutes walk from the train station.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Great location overlooking the main square and waterfront. Very spacious with two bathrooms and fully contained kitchen. Vernazza has recently been devestated by land slides but is a beautiful town and a great place from which to explore the Cinque Terre Natioanl Park.

Notes:
The apartment is "In the heart of Vernazza where Vernazza is the heart of the Cinque Terre!" Enjoy the village life and people, and to be close to the beaches and to train as well paths and ferry boat connections to the other Cinque Terre villages. Each room of the apartment has windows. A superb view from the sitting room on the piazza, the hart of the village, and on the sea. The sitting room ceiling was peinted in the mid of the XIX century by the owner of that time. Today all forniture are authentic or design with nice linen and table sets (diches, glasses...). Only 18 steps to get to the apartment leve, not too many for the 5 Terre! Authentic and romantic this apartment is well keeped and maintenance closing is scheduled every year, to deliver the best place to stay to our family and to our guests.

Great Location and a parking spot

  • 4 of 5

This VRBO is located in the heart of Vernazza. Pack light because you do need to haul your bag from the parking spot to the apartment and up stairs but it is so worth it. The windows overlook the main piazza at the harbour. Beautiful. You hear the church bells. Apartment is well appointed with a decent kitchen. 2 bedrooms and 2 washrooms.

Great location and view in Vernazza!

  • 4 of 5

Cristina was great to communicate with from the start. She provided detailed instructions that were easy to follow regarding payment, key pickup, apartment location, etc. The location was fabulous and the view of the square and marina were excellent. The stairs could be a challenge for some if you have heavy or large luggage.

During our stay, we had a problem getting hot water for showers. Since Cristina doesn't live there, she unfortunately wasn't able to get anyone out to look at it until after our departure.

During our visit we realized there was to be a train strike on the day we were leaving Cinque Terre. We messaged Cristina for advice and she was kind enough to arrange a driver for us to get us back to our car in La Spezia.

We loved exploring the Cinque Terre region. This apartment provided a comfortable, convenient place to come home to!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review. I was really sorry for the water issue but as I told you during the week end it is impossible to have the heater assistance in Vernazza which is too far from the main centers. For train strike ...it happens, and I did my best finding the solution of the licensed driver for 5 people + lugagges. But I am also happy you enjoed the place and the accomodation!

Incredible location!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this place! Spacious for 2 couples, with 2 bathrooms and everything we needed in the kitchen, it was a fantastic stay. The view out the windows is breath taking, and that is worth it, regardless of the 57 bells that go off every morning at 7 AM. You really should be up and moving at that time, because you are in Italy! :) Highly recommend this place-- but beware, if you go in the winter like we did, most of the shops and restaurants are closed, so plan accordingly.

Very Local, very Real - loved the church bells

  • 3 of 5

We stayed 5 nights and enjoyed overlooking the piazza in Vernazza and the sound of the sea and the church bells. The local children play soccer in the piazza until 10 pm every evening and the bar noise is present directly below the apartment and lasts long into the evenings as well.

The towels provided unfortunately had a ripe smell and I would recommend bringing your own unless the property upgrades them soon.

The bed was moderately comfortable and the showers were small and tight to use. The kitchen is modest. Do not count on cooking large meals unless you are a genius of some sort.

The sitting area is spacious and reasonably comfortable. The apartment is clean and tidy.

The parking spot is a feature but we had an Audi wagon and it required several minutes and two people to guide for space so as not to scrape the sides - very challenging to get it up and down the ramp - beware - small car is best - and the gate closes soon so you must constantly open it while figuring out the space down the ramp! No kidding. It was a real chore.

There is no noise from the train at this apartment since it is a reasonable walk from it but not too far.

The Main Street shops are lovely when they are open. When they are open go in - they may not be open again!

Owner's Response: I agree on your points. Our private parking spot is one of the few in Vernazza and it is suitable to cars like Audi A3 A4 and A6 and to get on and out of it depends also from eachone driving skill. There is no space in the village to build large parking buildings. The kitchen is even wide respect our XVI century houses standards... maybe fireplace is not so confortable but it fits exactly in the original coal fireplace niche. For linen I do apologise. Maybe it was due to the rainy period. Respect kids playing soccer and noise from cafe and restaurants there is no space in the village or nearby to build soccer fields. In the village there is only one square that can be used for soccer matches as per the lifestyle mood of the Italian villages. And this square on the ocean is exactly the heart of Vernazza, where Vernazza is the heart of the 5 Terre, and it is where the widows of our family apartment overlook. Shops are open from 9 am to 8 pm from April to September. In mid and low season they close earlier.

Charming fishing village

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Cristina’s for 3 nights and loved every moment. Location is excellent and whilst there was plenty of activity downstairs, inside the apartment was true peace. The view of the bustling town square coupled with the comfort inside this magnificent antique apartment saturated our 3-night stay with an ambiance only Italian fishing village could provide.

This well maintained historical building was designed with the utmost good style. We felt privileged to stay in such a beautiful, true Italian apartment. From the moment I discovered this apartment on this website I knew it would be in a perfect position in the charming village of Vernazza. This village is smaller than the others but more manageable and not as steep. It was enjoyable buying pastries and bread in the early mornings and interesting to watch the hive of activity of service trucks, small markets before the onslaught of tourists. However I have to admit at that stage we also became tourists and took advantage of trekking or visiting other Cinque Terre villages by ferry or train. I do hope we, tourists don't spoil this part of the world.

All in all we enjoyed the views from the apartment, watching the crowds of tourists from afar during the day then to the pina coladas in the square after the tourists left on the last ferry. Having a private car park up the hill was such a bonus. We could not have asked for more. Such a memorable stay and only wished we could have stayed a little longer.

Great apartment, prime location, and truly a fun area to visit.

  • 5 of 5

The apartment and the village of Vernazza are exactly as described and we had an incredible three days. The location was central to everything; a little noisy but that was part of the experience. Be prepared for 7 am wine bottle recycling in the square, but as I said, that is something we do not experience in the Houston suburbs so we actually enjoyed it.

Vernazza is one of the Cinque Terre villages: on the sea side, next to Monterosso, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. From Vernazza you can take the train to get to the other villages, or just walk enjoying the beauty of the landscapes from the steep paths rising the hills, among lemon trees and grapes terraces, right in front of the sea: in summer the villages are easily connected by ferry boat as well.

The Cinque Terre villages are in the region of La Spezia, famous for other beautiful locations such as Portovenere, Lerici, Tellaro and Sarzana. It is easy to travel around the villages and in all the region by train, with short connection trip and thanks to a very large train time schedule offer.

From La Spezia station or by car, via highway, it is also easy to get to Pisa (60km, the nearest airport as well), Lucca (80 km), Florence (115 km), Leghorn (90 km) from where to get to Elba Island by ferryboat, and then Genoa (100 km), Parma (100 km) and Milan (200 km).

Live some days in Vernazza means also to enjoy the tastes, flavors and colors of the Italian Riviera; after the flood passed on October 25th, 2011 a very sad event to which the people of Vernazza reacted firmly, people from all over the world come more than once to visit us.... discover yourself the very good reasons for!
