Overview

About the property

5 Bedroom, 7 bathroom Villa with Alpine views, easy access to the Barolo region

Villa Bracchi is a stunningly restored property sitting on 2.4 Ha (6 acres) located in the Alta Langa closest to the villages of Dogliani, Bossolasco, Monforte d'Alba, Barolo, Serralunga d'Alba, Castiglione Falletto, La Morra, and Alba. I purchased our first property, Villa San Lorenzo (VRBO #93138) in 2005 and it has been such a wonderful experience that I decided to purchase this property in the Spring of 2014 because of it's unique location providing incredible views of the Italian Alps, lots of privacy, and easy country road access to the best that the Langhe region has to offer with some of the most authentic, and highly acclaimed, restaurants and wineries within minutes from the Villa.

I kept the incredible structure and bones of Villa Bracchi in tact while completely rebuilding (gutting) from the ground up including a new foundation, raising ceiling height on all levels, new interior walls, and a beautiful open wood beam vaulted roof. I have spared no expense in creating each bedroom and bathroom with elegance and charm and modernity. Absolutely every inch of the Villa has been restored by hand using natural stone, sandstone, and wood recovered and restored from the original structure.

There are hardwood floors throughout the entire Villa as well as luxurious rain showers tiled with carrara marble in each bathroom. Each bedroom has a private balcony or terrace off each room.

About Clay McLachlan

I fell in love with Piemonte in 2002 on our visit to the region. In 2005 we took the leap and bought Villa San Lorenzo (property 93138 on VRBO) and lovingly restored that property. Clay is a world renowned food, wine, and travel photographer.

Clay McLachlan purchased this villa in 2014

Why Clay McLachlan chose Bonvicino

After purchasing Villa San Lorenzo, I always kept my eye on other properties available in the region. I took the next step by purchasing Villa Bracchi in the Spring of 2014 with the intention of creating a second stunning property in our favourite hamlet of Bonvicino. I oversaw the entire renovation project day by day working with our talented set of artisan builders to bring new life back to this historic property.

What makes this villa unique

At Villa Bracchi, I kept the beautiful structure of the Villa intact while taking the opportunity to create a 21st century home outfitted with all modern technology and utilising green technology for heating and building materials in order to make as small a footprint as humanly possible. I think you will love what I have created!

phenomenally luxurious villa

  • 5 of 5

I had the pleasure of staying at Villa Bracchi in August 2017. This house is a total gem in a totally charming area of Piemonte. It is a magical mix of classic and contemporary, a newly renovated farmhouse with exquisite attention to details, like slate bathroom fixtures and amazing tubs (and the view from the tub...!) The open kitchen is phenomenal and a pleasure to use, with views of the Alps. All I wanted to do my first day here was sit on the porch and take in the peaceful scenery. This is also a great base for exploring the Langhe region, all the nearby wine towns, and the Alps and Italian Riviera are only about an hour away. If you're lucky enough to stay when Clay is in town, you're truly in store for a treat, as he can connect you to all kinds of star local chefs for cooking classes, wineries to visit, and other highlights of the region.

Beautiful new property in Piedmont with great host

  • 5 of 5

Villa Bracchi is a new property that is beautifully designed in the countryside in Piedmont. We spent a few nights there this summer. The house has a great kitchen which is both great to cook in and also provides amazing views. Everything in the house has been recently furnished with every attention to detail, the beds are extremely comfortable, and the location is very peaceful for a perfect night’s sleep. The house would work well for a small or large group, with a large dining room table. Nearby towns of Dogliani and Bossolasco have regular markets, places to shop and several places to eat. Alba and Barolo are about a 30 minute drive, which you can do in your own car, or Clay can take you wine tasting. Clay is an amazing host – who can provide access to unique food and wine experiences across Piedmont, or do anything else necessary to set up a perfect stay in Italy. We look forward to the chance to return again!

This Villa is Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

Staying at Villa Bracchi was an amazing experience. Situated in the countryside, it's very private and the view of the Italian alps is spectacular. The master bedroom has a huge window facing the valley below leading up to the mountains. The main living room with a beautiful open kitchen also has a wall of tall window/doors that you can see the view. The kitchen is awesome with a large island for prepping/partying/sitting with a glass of wine looking at the view. Minutes from Bossolasco and Dogliani and the rest of the Langhe. I call this area the magical place of food and wine. The owner Clay is very connected and very knowledgable about the food and wine of Piedmont. Any recommendations from him should be taken seriosly. I felt like I was forever changed after being here.

Spectacular Views in Relaxing Setting

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of 4 who stayed at Villa Bracchi in June 2016. The villa is set in the mountains and has incredible views. A thunderstorm rolled through the evening we arrived and we were treated to an hour of spectacular lightning and storm clouds passing by. The villa is sparkling clean, nicely decorated, and very comfortable. The bathrooms, in particular, are lovely with fantastic showers. It's so quiet and relaxing that our jet-lagged kids slept 14 hours the first night. Clay, the owner, is attentive to his guests and is delighted to share his passion for food. The nearby town is a nice place to stroll and has several cafes and gelato options. You need a car to stay here and easily access the region.

Exceptional renovated property in an exceptional region

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed a blissful getaway at Villa Bracchi. It was close enough to charming towns, markets, wineries, great walks and wonderful restaurants, yet far enough away from crowds of tourists to truly experience life in this very special Italian region. The newly renovated villa has a to-die-for chef's kitchen, lovely bedrooms with en suite baths and amazing views of the Alps. The owner provided all the guidance we needed to discover the very best of the region. We can't wait to return with a group of friends and family to celebrate my 60th birthday, hopefully during truffle season. I can think of no better place in which to share the things we love--good food, good wine, beautiful vistas and la dolce vita--with the people we love.

Paradiso!

  • 5 of 5

With its gorgeous 17th century exteriors and its beautifully restored interiors, this timeless villa is paradise. The large windows and balconies offer stunning views of the alps and the Piemonte countryside. The bedrooms are luxurious and peaceful. The one in which I stayed had a marvelous view and a private entrance. Because of the tranquil nature of the place, don't be surprised if you pass hours in front of these impossibly large windows, gazing, writing, chatting or just being. If you're a food lover like me, you'll be very tempted to extend your stay here indefinitely. The kitchen is a gorgeous space and a joy to use. Restaurant wise, the region is filled with rustic, hidden gems. Clay, the owner, is an award winning food and wine photographer and is very knowledgeable about the best culinary experiences in the area. I recommend seeking out and following his advice. This is a very very special place to stay in a very special region in Italy.
