Wonderful place to stay.

  • 5 of 5

Peter and Marie are wonderful hosts, we felt like we were staying with old friends. Beautiful house and grounds, immaculately clean and tidy everywhere. You could easily spend your week just staying at the property with the pool, table tennis, badminton, pool table or just sitting enjoying the garden and drawing or reading. Very hi spec in the apartments - we stayed in Susanna but got the chance to look round all the others and I would love to stay in any of them. Marcelina and the apartment next to it (not advertised here, but they do rent it out) have large private balconies in front of their glass frontage on the first floor. Peter and Marie were really helpful with anything we needed. We had a great day renting a boat on the local canal network, also went cycling on the Ile de Re beyond La Rochelle, visited Rochefort and the lovely little beach town of Fouras. Would highly recommend any of the properties and the hosts! Thank you P & M.

Beautiful property and peaceful location

  • 5 of 5

We spent a lovely family holiday in the "Susanna". The cottage was attractively decorated and had everything we could need. The setting was beautiful and gave us a relaxing break while our children, 9 and 11, enjoyed the heated pool and daily table tennis challenges. It was lovely to sit in the garden and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Peter, the owner, was on hand with restaurant and wine recommendations!

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your holiday. It is so quiet with only the birds and bees around and only a short drive in any direction to the many attractions this area has to offer.

Beautiful cottage, relaxing pool area and gardens.

  • 5 of 5

We arrived after a very long drive but it was soon forgotten as we were delighted with our accommodation 'The Susanna' and the beautiful surroundings. It wasn't long before we all made ourselves at home as the accommodation had everything our family with two teenagers could need. After a busy day at the beach or sight-seeing it was lovely to come back and watch dvds or play board games as a family in the candlelit lounge. The pool area set in a walled garden was very relaxing during the day but we also enjoyed swimming later in the evenings too. There was a large selection of books and magazines to read plus local attraction leaflets on hand which came in very useful; as we had not been to the area previously. Exploring the other buildings it got better and better as we found the pool table and another larger room with table tennis, a badminton net and bikes all of which were free to use at any time. Every area had been thought out carefully, decorated tastefully and we appreciated all the art work. It was lovely to sit outside in the evenings for a b-b-q and just have quality family time. Best of all was the charming host Peter, always on hand to help but not intrusive. He answered all of our enquiries during the booking process and gave us great advise on arrival to make this a truly unforgetable holiday. Thank you Peter.

Beautiful property, great holiday.

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful property which has been renovated to the highest standard without taking away its charm. The pool and pool room are superbly maintained and all the equipment for table tennis, badminton etc. are well looked after. Enjoyed breakfast on the terrace in the sun, very peaceful and private. Had trips to Ile de Re-beautiful beaches, La Rochelle-very chic even in a torrential downpour!,,Chatellion-great creperie and the surprisingly charming Rochefort, Peter was the perfect host offering a warm welcome, advice on restaurants, local maps etc. Our children (10 and 8) loved it here and would have happily stayed around the cottage all week. We would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone-the best accommodation we have stayed in in France by far! Thank you.

Luxurious setting and accommodation

  • 5 of 5

1.Our accommodation, Suzanna, was outstanding ( spotlessly clean , with every amenity available and considered by the thoughtful owners). I travelled with my 2 children (aged 8 and 11) who adored the setting with private gardens to explore for play and their particular favourite the private pool.

2, Location. Idyllic- amongst the sunflower fields. We explored the area on bikes provided by the owners and enjoyed the games room ( table tennis and badminton). Day trips to the coast and inland involved a car drive of about 30 -40 minutes but this was easy driving along beautiful country roads, and a sat nav reduced all stress in finding locations. Local shopping was a 10 minute drive away.

3.The owners were really welcoming ,unobtrusive, accessible, and they always seemed to know when this Dad needed some support or direction with local advice providing vital information about the area and how to get the best from our visit.

4. Every day was different from beach days, to visits to historic houses, the zoo, boat trips ( inland and at sea) , cycling, or just relaxing by the wonderful pool.

5. For me it was the perfect contradiction; as an adult I could happily have spent the whole 2 weeks relaxing outside my cottage or conversely there was plenty to do with 2 children keen to explore .

6. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property

7. The property is just so beautifully presented. With my job, I have been fortunate to travel overseas and stay in some great hotels and properties , but this place is really as is it is described - perfect for a refreshing summer holiday .

8. My delayed review results from my own poor time management , but as I plan this year's adventure , I am struggling to find anywhere similar to beat it .

Thank you for a wonderful family holiday Best regards Ian, Inge and Alex.
