Beautiful cottage in great location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 4 nights from 19th March as part of a family get together in Ireland celebrating St Patrick's day and our eldest son's birthday. As we started our trip in Dublin we found driving to the cottage very straightforward.

We were met by the owner, Gerard, who had brought some lovely cakes, wines and other goodies - great hospitality!

The cottage itself exceeded our expectations, it is beautiful ( the kitchen/diner is particularly attractive) and very cozy with the log burner in the lounge. The extensive choice of music which is piped around the rooms adds to the ambience. You will find that everything you need (washer, dryer, dishwasher etc) is provided for a very comfortable stay. The views from the conservatory of Carlingford Lough are stunning and the room itself a little sun trap! The Greenway which runs along the coast from Omeath to Carlingford is also accessible just across the road and makes for a pleasant walk. Carlingford has a number of good places to eat - we can recommend Magees and Ruby Ellen's tea rooms. Also you are a short drive from Newry in the North which has a good supermarket for your supplies. All in all we would highly recommend Old Essmore Cottage to anyone for a relaxing, enjoyable stay.

A wonderful welcome awaits you from the lovely hosts Maureen and Gerard. The property is warm and cosy, you feel relaxed and at ease from the start of your stay. Really well equipped, everything you think you might need is already there. Great location for a costal walk into Carlingford. We loved it and hope to return for another great weekend.

Very clean and comfortable property.

  • 5 of 5

This was an outstanding vacation rental property. Gerard met us at the house when we arrived with a delicious collection of Irish treats. Just what we needed after a long day of travel. The house was very clean and conveniently located with easy access to Carlingford and Northern Ireland. It was a comfortable retreat every night after long days of sightseeing. We particularly enjoyed the walking path along the water that starts just across the street.

Lovely homely cottage

  • 4 of 5

This cottage has great amenities and is in a very good location for views & walks. Wonderful cream tea awaited us on arrival. Very well equipped throughout with pleasant outside area which is secure for children & dogs. Logs for the fire provided and the conservatory is a light airy space to relax. Cot & high chair provided plus ample towels. Basic foodstuffs too which was very useful. Good fast wi-fi. A five minute walk to the shop/pub. Rosie's cafe in Omeath does great Irish fry. Lots of tourist info leaflets in cottage. Recommend.

Spectacular

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful place to stay. The Mourne mountains are there to greet you every morning and Carlingford is only a short trip up the road. The accommodations were top notch. Gerard was there to greet us and showed us all the amenities the house had to offer. Highly recommend you won't be disappointed.
