A wonderful welcome awaits you from the lovely hosts Maureen and Gerard. The property is warm and cosy, you feel relaxed and at ease from the start of your stay. Really well equipped, everything you think you might need is already there. Great location for a costal walk into Carlingford. We loved it and hope to return for another great weekend.

Very clean and comfortable property.

  • 5 of 5

This was an outstanding vacation rental property. Gerard met us at the house when we arrived with a delicious collection of Irish treats. Just what we needed after a long day of travel. The house was very clean and conveniently located with easy access to Carlingford and Northern Ireland. It was a comfortable retreat every night after long days of sightseeing. We particularly enjoyed the walking path along the water that starts just across the street.

Lovely homely cottage

  • 4 of 5

This cottage has great amenities and is in a very good location for views & walks. Wonderful cream tea awaited us on arrival. Very well equipped throughout with pleasant outside area which is secure for children & dogs. Logs for the fire provided and the conservatory is a light airy space to relax. Cot & high chair provided plus ample towels. Basic foodstuffs too which was very useful. Good fast wi-fi. A five minute walk to the shop/pub. Rosie's cafe in Omeath does great Irish fry. Lots of tourist info leaflets in cottage. Recommend.

Spectacular

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful place to stay. The Mourne mountains are there to greet you every morning and Carlingford is only a short trip up the road. The accommodations were top notch. Gerard was there to greet us and showed us all the amenities the house had to offer. Highly recommend you won't be disappointed.

very relaxing escape in beautiful surroundings

  • 5 of 5

I booked this cottage 5 weeks prior to arrival - it was the last in a serious of attempts to get accomodation in this general area. and I sure was glad that all my other searches were booked up. This turned out to be such a great treat, much more than I had hoped for. I wanted to book a nice house that was within an hour of belfast and drogheda so i could take kids to Titantic/W5 odessy and also funtasia in drogheda. We could have not gone to either of these in the end as there was so much to do around the area of carlingford and Newry. The cottage itself I was worried about as photos never seem to prove successful to me when booking but this one was exactly as photo if not even better. It was so cosy, so clean, had everything, location great, and the welcoming committee was exceptional. I had never got that level of service and I rent alot of houses. We were greeted very warmly by Gerard and Maureen and the table was laiden with scones and cakes which after a 3 hour trip late friday evening this was very much appreciated. I would recommend this house as well as this area to anyone who wants to escape in a comfortable setting and very friendly area with lots of fresh air ! (Fiona - 2 adults, 3 kids 11, 9, 4)

Exceptional & Very Enjoyable

  • 5 of 5

The house was very comfortable for our family of four adults. Every room in the house was tastefully furnished and made us immediately feel at home. The sitting room was cozy, dining room very comfortable and the kitchen was exceptionally well stocked. Gerard (owner) was there to greet us even though we had a late evening arrival. He had Christmas decorations set up inside and outside the cottage, Christmas music was playing and there was a choice of hundreds of CDs from a server ((sitting room, dining room and sunroom are wired for music). A lovely meal was waiting for us and the refrigerator was stocked with milk, orange juice, etc. Definitely would recommend Essmore Cottage to anyone considering a vacation in this part of Ireland. We enjoyed the nearly villages of Omeath and Carlingford and the scenic drives and walks. We look forward to staying again during the summer months to enjoy the sunroom and gardens.
