eco house with log burning hot tub - within walking distance of Freshwater West
We are a family of four (and very old dog) living in Bristol where we spend most weekends mountain biking in Leigh Woods when not visiting Pembrokeshire.
Paul purchased this Farmhouse in 2007
Why Paul chose Angle
We fell in love with this part of Pembrokeshire after spending many years holidaying here. We stumbled upon Bangeston in a state or disrepair and decided to embark on an eco refit.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
We enjoy the fantastic beaches, wildlife and the countryside that this area offers and love relaxing, surfing and just being on the beach building sandcastles or exploring rockpools. Many can be deserted even in the height of summer and Freshwater West is world class in all respects. We think we have created a special place with its traditional wobbly walls and old fashioned slate floors but with the comforts of underfloor heating and walk in shower.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property was everything advertised online and comfortably provided enough space for 6 adults 3 teenagers a 16month old and a large dog.
The property was easy to find and in a lovely location
This cottage is absolutely stunning. It's our dream to own a property like this and staying here has only reinforced the vision. The Farmhouse is beautifully maintained, incredibly welcoming and was a wonderful place to spend a romantic few days. We'll be asking to stay here again and continue to talk about the stay weeks later. This Farmhouse is just magical.
We loved Paul’s place
Paul’s place is great and we really loved our time there.
Good things bout the house:
Log burner, fusebal table, plenty of space, eco friendly where possible (eg biomass heater, ‘who gives a crap’ toilet paper, etc etc), wood fired hotub (takes a few hours to warm up but is magical under the stars), wet room (good for getting in and out of wetsuits), big kitchen.
The area: the area immediately around angle is quite quiet which is a good thing and a not so good thing (when you despreratley need a coffee). But the local beaches are amazing for rock pools, walks and surf, and the local pub isn’t too bad either. Shops are 15-20 mins away and we were amazed at how good folly farm is (zoo and rides). And Tenby is awesome, felt like a more chilled st ives. (Ie no death by seagul)
The hotub: be prepared to get the fire going a few hours before you want to get in 3/4 hours and it will get fantastically hot and you can watch the stars. Just make sure there’s no air in the system.
The main beach: most consistent beach break in wales so good surf 2 mins drive of 20 mins walk. Also sand dunes and rock pools. Beautiful coastal walks everywhere
Bad things: hard to think of many things that could be improved. Maybe a WiFi extender is the WiFi can get to the kitchen if that’s possible. And be aware it’s a characterful old house to the floor boards are very loud. I would recommend putting any young children or people who want to go the bed early on the top floor and night owls on the second floor.
Conclusion: All in all you can tell this place isn’t just a holiday rental money maker, it’s a well thought out lovely place to be and we would definitely love to come back.
Thanks Paul and family for the lovely time.
Lovely week in Pembrokeshire
Just returned from a lovely week at Bangeston Farmhouse - our first time in Wales. We were 2 families, 9 in total plus puppy. All was good and as described. Beaches nearby are stunningly good. Kids also enjoyed the hot tub on a couple of evenings although it takes a long time and a lot of wood to heat. Wood burner was good for a couple of chilly evenings. There is a pub in Angle called the Hibernia Inn which is about a 25 minute walk from the farm and which does good food. Other than that you need to drive 15-20 minutes to Pembroke for shops etc . Tenby is good for restaurants and is a lovely seaside town with lots happening. Recommend mackerel fishing!
Thank you for visiting and thank you for your review. Glad you enjoyed your stay. You are welcome back any time. Paul
What a find!
We absolutely loved our stay and are already planning to book again.
The house was absolutely perfect for us - 2 adults and 3 young children. It had everything we needed. The kitchen is really well equipped and even has a Nutri Ninja for smoothies. There is a walk in shower - perfect for wet kids coming back from the beach. There were games for the children- the table football was particularly popular. Plenty of hot water and even fast WiFi.
The house is lovely inside and out and the owners have really covered everything - there are ordnance survey maps of the area in the house as well as a detailed welcome pack with great local information.
There is a storage shed in the garden where we left a surfboard, bikes and a big pushchair - so much better than having them in the house like at home! The garden games from the shed were a big hit.
We had beautiful weather so were very pleased to have a barbecue and had all our meals in the garden which is (I think) southwest facing.
The location is stunning. The farmhouse is down a quiet farm track. It's just a minute to Freshwater West or a few minutes to East Angle bay so really easy even with small children. We didn't need to venture far to keep everyone entertained and the pushchair didn't get much use.
The hot tub took a while to fill and heat up (over 2 hours) but well worth it. It had cooled but was still warm in the morning and the kids loved playing in it. They want to move in basically.
The house has lots of eco features - solar panels, triple glazing and a wood pellet boiler so it will be an option for us any time of year unlike some holiday properties. There is plenty of space and so it will be a great place for weekends or holidays with family and friends as well.
We can't wait to go back. We'll definitely be staying longer next time and hope to be regular visitors.
Mary what a lovely and detailed review. So lovely to meet you and your family. It was an absolute pleasure to have you to stay. You must try the Bangeston Barn sometime as I think you would enjoy this also. Take care and see you again someday hopefully. Paul
The property is bordered by a rarely used unmade track, bridleway and woodlands. The quiet peninsula is surrounded by wonderful wild coastline which forms part of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path.
Angle Village is a 20/30 minute walk away where you can find a church, 2 pubs and West Angle Beach.
West Angle Bay is a horseshoe cove with golden sand - perfect for families. There are some rocks for climbing. There is a car park, toilets and lovely beach-side cafe.
Freshwater West, with its extensive sand dunes and surf, is 1 mile away. East Angle Bay is 750m away and is great for birdwatching, crabbing and looking at shells.
There are lots of lovely attractions nearby including Pembroke Castle, the Lilyponds and Mencap Gardens at Stackpole, climbing around Bosherston, St Govan's Chapel, great cycling along the Tenby triathlon route and the Green Bridge of Wales.
Try out surfing or stand up paddle boarding or bring your canoe and paddle to the Old Point House pub!
