The cottage was built in 1640 & has the added attraction of ships timbers & beamed ceilings throughout & like the other Fishermen’s Cottages, as you enter you get the feeling of stepping back in time where the men made their living from fishing or smuggling.

This unique cottage offers 2 bedrooms, and can comfortably sleep 4 people.

There are seven golden sandy beaches to visit, these include Viking bay, Joss bay, Botany bay and there are smaller more secluded beaches if you prefer.

If you fancy a game of Golf on our famous golf courses, or a day out boat fishing, or even a trip to france for the day it is all here for you to sample.

About PHIL DENNIS

I was very lucky to be born in Broadstairs and I have lived here all my life.

Barnaby's Lodge was one of the first houses to be built in this lovely town.

I am a retired builder and have lovingly restored this unique cottage to it's former glory.

I now manage The Fishermen's Cottages and have been in the hospitality trade for over 20 years now. I fell in love with this cottage when I was renovating it and I now have great pleasure in managing this one and two others that are on this web site.

I really enjoy in making sure that all of our customers have a great stay, with 5 star customer care!

If you want to know the best restaurants, pubs or beaches to visit then just let me know and I'll be happy to assist. I'm always here to help!

I have understood what everyone is looking for and number one is cleanliness which is at the top of our list.

We will work hard to ensure that your stay here in Broadstairs is both comfortable and enjoyable so hopefully you'll want to return again!

Why PHIL DENNIS chose Broadstairs

Steeped in history this cottage was built in 1680 and was used by the smugglers, there is still the secret door in the lounge that they used to escape from the custom officers. Parts of this cottage are built out of chalk blocks carved out of the local cliffs with flint and old oak ships timbers, really anything they could find on the beach.

This is the best location to stay in Broadstairs, tucked away in a little courtyard yet so close to the beaches, shops and restaurants which are all only a minutes' walk away. Plus what a great place with all it's charm and character of a Fisherman's hide away, how could you not resist coming to stay.

What makes this cottage unique

It's such a cosy cottage steeped in history, you can not help falling in love with it.There is a small secure sunny garden with a patio table and chairs where you can sit out and have your breakfast or a glass of wine.

Everything is on your doorstep and there is no need to use your car, just park up on the Eastern Esplanade for free and enjoy the history and beauty of this wonderful old town.

Being right on the tip of the South East of England, we have our own little micro-climate here producing some of the best weather in the UK, with temperatures reaching up to 30 degrees.

You will be guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome whenever you come to Broadstairs. The town is steeped in history and charm and has been captivating visitors for generations.Barnaby's Lodge is a fantastic base from which to explore everything the town and surrounding area has to offer.

Beautiful cottage , excellent location .

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is lovely and both myself and my sister enjoyed our 5 night stay immensely. It is so peaceful in the Square yet so close to all amenities . Viking Bay is quite literally a stone's throw away and breathtakingly beautiful at all times of the day . So many photo's taken . There are plenty of things to do so close to the cottage that not having a car is no problem . We walked to Ramsgate , Margate and Westward Cross, as well as exploring Broadstairs of course . Just a few steps from the cottage is a 111seat picture palace which we enjoyed greatly. The cottage itself is comfortable and homely and has everything required except a corkscrew . (We just about managed ) Everything was clean and fresh and the beds are really comfortable too. The shower is a little tricky as there is nowhere to hang on wall but has a good pressure and maintains temperature . All in all a really lovely stay in a beautiful cottage in an ideal location . Loved it . Highly recommend . Regards . Pauline and Jane .

Owner's Response: Dear Pauline and Jane. Thank you so much for your 5 Star review! I am so pleased you had a really lovely stay and that you enjoyed Broadstairs and the surrounding towns. Not sure what happened to the corkscrew and thank you for pointing it out, I shall replace it straight away. Also I like to thank you for leaving the cottage so clean and tidy. Look forward to seeing you again and thank you for your custom! All the best to you both. Kind regards. Phil.

Barnabys lodge unique

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful few days visiting family seeing the Grandchildren spending quality time with them on beautiful viking bay beech which is only down the road from the cottage, lovely food from The curiosity shop delivered to your door. Bed comfy slept well. Our boxer dog loved the beech. It would of been 5 stars if it had a stand up shower. We will be back .
