The idyllic location, waking up to the sound of the birds and sheep in the field next door. The great sunsets across the open fields. The proximity to so many lovely places to visit. Above all the happy and cosy atmosphere the Cottage has.
The Old Sheephouse is an absolute picture perfect delight. Fantastic location being set down a quiet country lane but also close enough to all the amenities of the beautiful market town of Cirencester and surrounding areas.
There is a great pub just down the road in Barnsley and if looking to celebrate a special occasion dinner and drinks at Barnsley House Hotel is highly recommended.
For our stay of 8 nights the property was found in a lovely condition, clean, cosy and tidy with more than enough room for our party of five adults. The property has many interesting features such as beams and the large old fireplace in the lounge.
The kitchen is large with the addition of a dining table and plenty of crockery, utensils and a good range of appliances. The welcome basket with a range of local produce was much appreciated.
The bathrooms and downstairs toilet were very clean and there was always plenty of hot water.
The bedrooms were a nice size, clean and comfortable, although could do with a little extra bedding and more storage space. The single beds zip together to make doubles but unfortunately this was not done for our visit which was a disappointment considering we had requested double beds for the couples.
Although the property is a traditional Cotswold cottage it has been tastefully modernised whilst retaining its charm and character.
The back garden is nice and flat with a lovely selection of trees, shrubs and flowers. There is a large pond at the side of the property which is not enclosed so families with young children need to be aware.
With sheep in neighbouring fields, walks along country lanes, very peaceful setting, staying at the Old Sheephouse really made a great vacation into an exceptional holiday. We would have no hesitation in booking this lovely property again.
Thank you Fionna.
The place was exactly as advertised, with excellent facilities. The location is among the medows/fields, about 3 miles from town, on a long single track road. The owner was very helpfull when a minor problem with the heating system occured. We visited quite a number of those famous Cotswolds villages, as well as Bath & Oxford. The "Village Pub" in nearby Barnsley is highly recommended,
A wonderfully calm and tranquil cottage with all that you need to have a lovely family break and be able to entertain too. Beautifully furnished and maintained and spotlessly clean and a door into the garden from the kitchen to boot, perfect for those early morning cups of tea watching the dew lift.
Secure garden was great for children, the beds were blissfully comfortable and the bathroom and showers were perfect. Well equipped kitchen and good local information and ideas of things to do provided. Wood burning stove on top of very efficient heating made for a very civilised weekend in the country - as did the boot room!
Wonderful cottage to borrow in a lovely part of the world.
The pshotos don't make justice to the real beauty of this house. We fell in love for it inmediately, even the two children (not very efusive usually) were enthusiatic about it. It was perfectly clean, tastefully decorated and had everything we needed. A lot of space. Beautiful garden. 10 minutes to Cirencester's Waitrose and Tesco groceries. Perfect. We can't wait to go there again. Hopefully soon...Fiona was more than helpful with information about everything, unfortunately we had to go the the Hospital, but hadn't been for Fionna's indications we would have been lost, hopefully you won't need it, but Cirencester's Hospital staff was really nice and helpful. If there is any question Fionna is always ready to answer or help. We went to a great place for lunch in Stroud in front of the weekly market following her advice and were pleasantly surprised. Thank you for everything.
The Old Sheephouse is a delightful, roomy cottage, located on a quiet road, but within reach of local attractive Cotswold towns and villages. It's location is ideal for those who wish to either relax in the house or garden or spend their time sightseeing. The property is clean, comfortable, well equipped and in excellent decorative order. The wood burning stove made it particularly cosy. The local pub is only a five minute car ride away.
We would have no hesitation in recommending this property to families or couples. We were made more than welcome and look forward to returning there soon.
The Boswell family (6 adults and 1 toddler)
We rented the Cottage for a week in early August and found the Cottage to be equipped with everything we needed, including guide books and maps. The location was great - right in the middle of everything you want to see in the Cotswold region. Old Sheephouse Lane is ideal for a morning run or walk to start your day. The garden is delightful for an evening barbeque. You can buy all of your supplies, and good wine, at the local Waitrose grocery store. To top it all off, we had the fortune to meet FIonna who gave us all kinds of valuable tips to make our stay perfect. We highly recommend a stay at the Old Sheephouse. Paul and Michelle
Charming rural location, close to Cirencester with its wonderful shops and cafes, and an easy walk to Barnsley village with the famous Village Pub and Barnsley House hotel.
