About the property

Sleeps 4 persons + cot

Set in a converted stone barn high up in the North Downs, an area of outstanding natural beauty, the cottage has been restored respecting the original flint features of the building. You are surrounded by paddocks, farmland and forests – perfect for exploring the countryside with plenty of beautiful walks and miles of bridle paths in the area, yet you are within close proximity to the historic city of Canterbury.

Stepping into the entrance you are greeted with an open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area. The kitchen is equipped and the lounge has a flatscreen television with DVD and Freeview, french doors lead out to a patio and garden area. On the first floor there is a full bathroom with WC, over-bath shower and basin as well as airing cupboard with plenty of hanging space. The master bedroom includes a full king size bed, armchair and bedside tables and a second twin bedroom has oak beds, a large wardrobe, bedside table and chair.

Only one wardrobe for 4 persons! Showerhead fixed on the wall. Very difficult to take a shower. Bathroom to tight. The internet only working sometimes.

Owner's Response: Dear Sabine, Thank you for your feedback. We have passed this onto the owners for them to review, although the shower is height adjustable and there is a second detachable shower-head over the bath tap. Furthermore there is an airing cupboard on the landing with plenty of hanging space as well as the wardrobe in the second bedroom (all described in our description!). Being a rural situation, the internet is at the mercy of British Telecom and peak demand (as with any location!), although issues are a rarity - especially as they are promising upgrades to the area!

Located in acres of parkland between the rural villages of Petham and Waltham there is plenty to explore right on your doorstep with local pubs and access to some amazing forests all within a short distance of the cottage. Canterbury has many fantastic restaurants and shops and is heaving with history with the famous Cathedral, ancient city wall and Chaucer Tales. Day trips to London are quick and easy with the newly installed high speed trains from Ashford or Canterbury. Equally trips to the continent can just as easily be made with either Eurostar, by Ferry or via Eurotunnel.
