Wonderful for solo traveler or couples

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at Little Bica House last November as a single traveler, and it was perfect. It would also be great for couples. The house is adorable, beautifully appointed, and very comfortable.

The location is ideal -- it is easy to walk to anything you may want and also to public transit to go further out. The kitchen is very convenient, but I wound up eating many meals from the Time Out Market, an easy walk from the house -- the food booths there will do takeaway if you'd like to take it back to your house. (It's also a great location for souvenirs to bring home.) There is also a grocery store a short walk away.

The hostess is wonderfully welcoming, and she took the time to explain the local sights, best ways to get around, and ensure that I had everything that I need.

It was a beautiful place to stay!

Very authentic and beautiful

  • 5 of 5

I was recomended this house to all my friends. Charming Lisbon, romantic streets around Bica house. Inside you have all you need for comfortable stay. Bedroom, on the first floor, is wonderful. Cais do Sodre (big transportation hub in Lisbon) is only 5-7 minutes by foot.

From that point you have metro, tram 15 to Belem district and boats across Tejo river. Bica elevador to Bairo Alto is on 100 meters from Bica house. Cafe and small market you can see from your window. Very positive recomendation for this place and last but not least for Marta, good spirit of Bica House and Lisbon.

Little House, Great Location

  • 5 of 5

Stayed 3 weeks in May at the Little Bica house. What a wonderful place. What a wonderful location! We loved this house. It is halfway up a steep hill that leads to the Santa Catarina overlook. Great place to people watch. The house had everything we needed, washer and dryer combo that worked like a charm and a two burner stove and small electric oven that we put to use making dinners. I highly recommend this house, it made our stay. Marta was wonderful and even baked us a surprise welcome present. She made every effort to help us with suggestions on places to eat and see. The place was immaculately cleaned when we arrived and during our stay. Thank you Marta for being so sweet and wonderful.

Adorable house in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Little Bica House is indeed little, but my husband and I were so charmed by it that we didn't mind. Marta was a total sweetheart from start to finish, meeting us at the appointed hour, showing us attractions and neighborhoods on a map, and allowing us to store a suitcase of clothing while we visited Algarve for two days and then returned to her house for two more days. It was our first visit to Portugal, and we really appreciated Marta's attentiveness and punctuality.

The house is midway up a steepish hill, but we adapted quickly and didn't mind the exercise. The location was ideal: continuing up the hill brought us to a beautiful and lively neighborhood; going down the hill brought us to the popular tapas market and taxis on the main street. Weekend nights were a little noisy, but we expect that in any dynamic city; plus the noisy parties were en route to other places and didn't stay put.

One word of advice: Wear sensible shoes in Lisbon. Don't bother packing any kind of heel or shoe that doesn't provide serious traction. We didn't realize how hilly the city was or how slippery its smooth-stone sidewalks were until we started walking—and slipping, and falling pretty hard. I noticed a lot of people walking around with an arm in a sling or a foot in a medical boot, and I consider myself lucky to not be among them. The smoothness of the sidewalks and staircases makes it virtually impossible NOT to fall if you're not wearing sneakers, sandals with really good traction, or hiking boots.

That said, we can't wait to return, and we'd happily stay at LBH because it was unique and special (as well as clean and attractively decorated), and Marta was just wonderful.

Lovely home in the heart of Lisbon

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Bica House and we loved it! Marta is an absolute gem, she is very knowledgeable about the area and its surrounds - listen to her recommendations, you will not be disappointed. The house is beautiful with a comfy bed, tv with many channels, and everything you could possibly need. It is in a wonderful location in a quiet street, close to sights and good local restaurants. I loved my stay and I look forward to booking on my next trip to Lisbon. Thank you Marta

Great stay at Bica Little House

  • 5 of 5

Bica Little House is cozy and charming. The house is close to restaurants, transportation, sightseeing, and a short 10 minute walk to downtown. The street is quiet and in a few minutes you can reach Barrio Alto and find lively restaurants, cafes, bars, and lots of pastry stores. Bica is a little house on two level and definitely comfortable for a city visit; we had a lot of fun.

Taking out of town trips was very easy as the house is walking distance from the metro, buses, and electric trams. Marta is super nice, lively, and a wealth of information for places to visit in and out of town, including restaurants & cafes to enjoy at night.
