The villa and property has 180 degrees sea view. The 100 year old stone house was rebuilt and modernized in 2007, while retaining its simplicity and modesty. NB The Google map satellite picture was taken before the rebuilding. Upstairs the house has a joint living room/dining room/kitchen, a bathroom and a large bedroom, and downstairs two small bedrooms. All rooms have sea view and lead out to terraces. There is a stereo, dvd player, several films and a monitor. Linen and towels provided. The pool is 3 by 6 meters, not heated. There are several terraces for dining and sunbathing: a roofed one outside the kitchen, one old and one new outside upper bedroom, one under grapevine outside lower bedrooms, and one around the pool. The surroundings consist of farming terraces and flower gardens. The road is reached by private stairs (60 steps). Parking on road about 100 metres away from top of stairs. The inside of the house is rustic and functional, while the outside is spacious and private with many semi-tropical plants.
Since 2 weeks we are back from our holiday in Madeira. I must not forget to tell you how beautiful it was in your House in Fajã da ovelha. We have been warmly received by Jose and Maria. We have spent unique and beautiful days even if the weather was not so great. After a short time we have felt us as zuhaus at home and at the end of the week I would have phoned almost you, to extend one week. But we have kept us there on our plan. Thanks again and we will come back next year safely. Warm regards from Hamburg! Klaus and Andrea :) glücklich
The villa is a quiet location to chill out. After awaking we could directly go out into the pool, rolls were brought every morning by the bakery car and breakfast outside on the covered terrace were even possible in windy weather. We used the villa as a hiking base and there was everything we needed. The caretakers were very nice and there are cute, very interested cats in the neighbourhood. We had a nice stay!
We were very much surprised by the quiet location and the spectacular view. A most pleasant surprise. We would love to come back. The villa has all the things you will need for a nice holiday. If you are looking for discos or many people you are at the wrong place!!
We enjoyed our stay very much. It's a very quite and comfortable place with a great view over the ocean and beautiful sunsets, set in the middle of a small village away from the main route. The pictures match exactly the setting, even the water in the pool looked absolutely clean and fresh, - but we didn't use it because of the overall temperatures.
The small shop in the village provides all emergency stuff, but to survive you need a car to go shopping in a supermarket, - p.e. in Prazeeres only a 10 minutes drive away and open every day 7:00 - 23:00.
The support of the owner could not have been better and we can recommend this place to anybody who is searching for a place on their own in a small village, far away from big hotels and noisy streets.
This sunny house is clean, confortable, well located in a beautiful and really quiet village. We spent fantastic holidays in this house, from where we used to see the sunset over the ocean. Thank You so much.
We had a wonderful time on Madeira - a wonderful island with friendly and relaxed people. We found the tranquility we were looking for. All of us loved the spacious and simple house. The kids had their own territory downstairs and we enjoyed the bedroom view the wonderful view on the Atlantic - it makes you feel relaxed immediately and you can literally see that the earth is round. Unfortunately we could not make use of the pool too often as wind and weather did not permit it - end of March is not summer yet - but that did not spoil our holiday at all as you can drive quickly to Calheta where there is a nice sandy beach and there are so many things to see and explore on Madeira. You can start hiking just from the house - not with small children though, but there are enough walks nearby along the little channels.
We appreciated the quiet surroundings and the beauty of the landscape in Faja de Ovelha. The west of Madeira is much more rural and authentic than the area around Funchal. At the same time you are within easy reach of all facilities such as supermarkets - a tiny one with basics in Faja and bigger ones in 15 minutes drive - banks, etc.
Thank you for a brilliant holiday where we got away from everything.
