I have been in the Vacation Home Rental business for about 20 years. I was traveling to different areas, and renting homes, as opposed to hotel rooms; since I enjoyed the comfort of a home, I thought, 'Why not get into the business'. I live a short distance from the Log House on Lake Jeffords, so, if you have a problem, just call me. Thanks, Rich
Richard Jordan purchased this house in 1995
I choose this location because of the quiet, peaceful outdoor location, the character of the Log House, and the private lake. The sunsets are fabulous.
My experience at this property was outstanding. It was very relaxing and my entire party was impressed. We were able to catch fish, sail around the lake and overall destress. The home was rustic and very comfortable. The only thing we needed was food and our swimsuits, although there were additional suits available. I would recommend this property very highly.
My husband and I had an amazing week in your home. Everything was wonderful!!! We enjoyed the pool and my husband enjoyed fishing on the dock. The outside grill was very nice and there was plenty of gas. It is so peaceful here and we could really relax. Having internet was important as we listen to so much jazz on line. The grocery store is very close, which made it convenient. We were fortunate enough to see the bald eagles flying around too. Can't think of one thing to complain about, it was all very, very nice. Thank you so much Mr. Jordon for the opportunity to enjoy this home, it is wonderful. We will be back next year, for sure!! (can't wait) Thanks- Renee and Claude LeBrun, Yulee, FL.
Our family of six enjoyed a relaxing and fun-filled weekend at this beautiful property. We were in town for our son's graduation from UF, and were looking for a place we could all stay together and also hold a small extended family and friends celebration for the grad on Saturday afternoon. It ended up being a perfect day as the "kids" all enjoyed the pool, hot tub, rec room, canoe, etc. We brought a corn hole set and placed it under the beautiful oak trees ... which provided perfect shade all afternoon for our family competition. The log house is adorable, decorated with an eclectic mix of art and memorabilia. Everything was very clean, towels are comfy and plentiful. The kitchen is well stocked ... just bring your food. The property is located on a dirt road, with a beautiful lake in the backyard. It truly was a treat to escape the hectic pace of life for a few days. And to top it off ... Rich was fantastic and worked with us on a few timing matters which made our weekend stress-free and absolutely perfect. Thank you so much Rich! We will be back!!!
the only concern i had was the safety of the pool. the main drain does not have a safety cover so my young children were not allowed in the deep end of the pool. As a pool owner i had an episode happen to me when my old cover cracked and almost sucked my shoulder off the next day i placed a new cover. just giving the owner a heads-up
The cabin itself is fine -- clean, well-stocked, and comfortable -- but nothing too special. It is what's outside the cabin that makes this a place worth coming back to. There is a pool and hot tub just behind the house in a screened-in porch with a number of places to sit and lounge around the pool. It felt wonderful in early April, and it will probably be fine even in mid-summer because you can always jump into the pool if you get too hot. (One note about the pool: The listing says "heated pool," but that's a bit misleading. When I hear "heated pool," I assume there is a heating system that can make it warm enough to swim in even in February. What the pool has is an insulating cover that lets the sun through but holds the heat in, which warms the pool passively. In early April it was certainly warmer than it would have been without the cover, but it wasn't what I expect from a heated pool. Folks from the North might have found it plenty warm enough to swim in, but this Southern boy was not about to jump in. It should be fine by May and then probably okay through, say, October, but if you like warm, not cool water, you won't be swimming in this pool the other months of the year.)
The best part of the property lies at the end of a boardwalk. You emerge from the tall cane and find a beautiful lake in front of you. Go sit out on the dock and enjoy the view, which is amazing at sunset, or get into the canoe that comes with the property and paddle across the lake. My wife and I kept saying to each other, "This is so much better than staying in a hotel."
One other small issue: The Internet connection is pretty slow, so if you want to watch a lot of videos, you'll get frustrated. But once you're at this place, you'll find much better things to do than surf the Web or catch up on your favorite TV shows online.
It is a true cabin in the woods. I think it would be great if the owner would remodel a little (the carpet is a bit dated) but over all it was very clean and we thoroughly enjoyed the pool hot tub and the lake. Great property and very private. We will be back!!
Outdoor lovers----come and enjoy. Just sit by the lake, and enjoy the beautiful sunsets. Or---enjoy the heated, screened in pool and Hot Tub.
