Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday villa in Budens - QUINTA DA ENCOSTA VELHA

Modern Townhouse with superb views of swimming pool and golf course

This property has been decorated and fitted out to a very high specification. It has views of the golf course to the front and one of the complex's four swimming pools. This particular pool which is ideal for children can only be accessed by a few properties, including ours, with key entry. Open countryside is all around with several beaches just a few minutes away. There are literally hundreds of kilometres of walking, horse riding and biking trails including the Via Algarviana and Rota Vicentina.

From the moment you park your car outside and step into the house you will feel at home. The kitchen has everything you will need for your stay including a washing machine and dishwasher.

The living room has high quality seating and dining facilities. There is a mini stereo unit for your use together with a smart TV (Hi Def UK channels via satellite) and WiFi. Bedroom 1 has en suite bathroom and double bed, bedroom 2 has 2 x single beds, both bedrooms have built in mirrored wardrobes and there are extra wardrobes in the hall area. Bathroom 1 & 2 both have baths with shower heads and glass screens.

Upstairs is a roof terrace where there is a BBQ and outdoor seating overlooking the pool.

Encosta velha has access to all the facilities within the Santo António Golf (Parque da Floresta) Resort, there is obviously golf, but so much more including summer camps for the children. Tennis courts, bowling greens, gym with personal trainers, health spa, bars and restaurants. Within a very short distance there are aerobic and Yoga classes.

If the beach is your thing then you will not be disappointed, this part of the Algarve is renowned for secluded beaches. The nearest beach is Salema which is about 3 km away, there is everything you will need for a day in the sun, bars, restaurants, cafes etc. It is a beautiful small fishing town, the sand is soft and the beach has a gentle slope away so safe swimming. There are even some dinosaur footprints in the rocks for the children to find.

Figuera is also about 3 klms away but you will need to prepare for a little walk to get to there, but I can tell you it is worth the walk, make sure you take everything with you as there are no facilities just a secluded beach that most of the time you will have to yourself..

Praia de Luz is about 6km away with its lovely large safe beach and all the water sports you may want to hire from pedalos and canoes to catamarans.

Lagos is about 15km away with its busy marina and 15 miles of beach, here you can hire boats or go on some of the day trips, exploring the grottos is a favourite, but there are so many to chose from, you can also arrange fishing trips here.

Within 45 mins drive you will find a selection of theme/water parks, there are so many, all excellent - make sure you arrive early to get your money's worth and take some sun shade with you. Most of the waterparks put on coaches if you do not fancy the drive.

Lagos Zoo is about 5 km away in Bensafrim, and features gardens with animals located in natural surroundings.

For the surfers among you the West Coast beaches are less than 15 mins away, there are surf schools dotted all along this coastline.

For walkers and hikers this part of the coast has fabulous coastal walking plus the 300km long Algarvian Way (The old road from Spain to Portugal). May, June, September and October are great months for walking with all the spring flowers, we seem to have two Springs here in the Algarve

Bird Watches are catered for as the Costa Vincentia National Park is only a few mins away, here you will see a whole host of birds native to Portugal and not so native as this is on the main migratory route through to Africa and is used as a stop off and rest point.

For mountain bikers this is paradise - so many tracks so little time, beautiful coastal routes, mountain ranges the choice is yours, we can give advice on routes and even groups to ride with.

About Ian Hodges

We moved from the UK to the Algarve in 2001 and for many years ran a garden centre and landscaping business as well as an old Portuguese 'Quinta' - a large group of farm buildings converted into picturesque holiday lettings. But time has marched on and we are now retired and amongst other activities like Pilates and mountain biking, are helping people enjoy this wonderful corner of Europe.

While at Quinta Encosta da Velha we can give you plenty of local knowledge and help you make the most of your stay. We only live a few km away in Praia da Luz. In case you are wondering the picture shows us during a trip to Seville last October which is less than three hours drive away from here.

Why Ian Hodges chose Vila Do Bispo region

We have travelled a great deal and know what makes a property and its surrounding comfortable. This is the most unspoilt part of the Algarve beyond any doubt.

What makes this villa unique

The whole complex has a nice village feel to it, is very secure with lovely well kept gardens and pools.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We had a brilliant holiday at Parque De Floresta. John was concerned when we arrived because he thought he would have to drive everywhere, and he likes to have a glass of wine with his food, but once we got familiar with the restaurants in the area and the local taxi company, problem solved.

The accommodation was very very spacious, very well fitted out and very clean. Having 2 bathrooms worked really well, one for the kids, the other for us parents. I loved sitting on the front balcony, we had lots of space for us all, which is why I book a house, not a hotel with 1 room for 4 to squidge in.

Kath is a lovely lady and was very helpful and sorted out any queries we had, which is a reassurance when you are booking someone elses property abroad.

We used the tennis courts (booking system & people a bit miserable at times) James attended the football school which he really enjoyed. The people at the bowls club were very friendly; we played Boule there a few times and played bowls on our last day. We also attended their quiz night both weeks and safely walked back along the track home (took a torch just in case the lights were turned off). We also used the activities company based on site, Dan & Tiff were very helpful. John and Katie loved their sea kayaking trip out. James and I are looking forward to doing it when James is old enough.

The supermarket was very handy, although the car park could be a bit fraught at times.

The swimming pools were our biggest disappointment, but we have been very spoilt with a very large swimming pool at another resort in Gale. There were plenty to choose from though, and we did have one all to ourselves one day.

The resort was probably quieter than I expected, but that could be due to the Olympics.

The beaches in the area were beautiful with some lovely beach bars.

We have already booked for next year!!!

Just as described. Very nice stay

Jenny and Clive are very helpful. The house is new and everything works fine. The views to the golf course from the main terrace make every lunch and dinner unique. The pool is heated and ready to use even in march or april. A perfect stay.

Two bedroom town house in an outstanding location - overlooking golf course at Parque da Floresta

Parque da Floresta Golf & Leisure is situated on the boundaries of the Costa Vicentina Nature Reserve, recognized as a place of special environmental and ecological importance.

Rolling rugged landscapes, long stretches of sandy beaches, fishing villages nestling in rocky coves - the western Algarve is a land of unspoilt natural beauty

Parque da Floresta Golf & Leisure is situated on the boundaries of the Costa Vicentina Nature Reserve, recognized as a place of special environmental and ecological importance.

Rolling rugged landscapes, long stretches of sandy beaches, fishing villages nestling in rocky coves - the western Algarve is a land of unspoilt natural beauty.

The Algarve region has a Mediterranean sub-tropical climate with moderate rainfall and plenty of sun throughout the year, making it an ideal year-round destination. Summers are hot and sunny, but are often refreshed by cooling breezes off the coast; the farther west you go, the windier it becomes. July and August are the hottest months of the year. The weather in the autumn and winter months is mild, and January is the coolest month of the year. The Algarve gets most of its rainfall over the winter months; rain is rare between June and September.

The Budens / Parque da Floresta area

There are numerous secluded beaches within a few miles of the golf resort, the nearest beach town of Salema is a approximately 2 klms - for its small size it has a good selection of restaurants & bars.

The resorts spa & beauty parlor at Parque da Floresta are very popular - golf / bowls & tennis are well catered for.

Whatever your favourite pastime or activity, The Algarve offers something for everyone – and loads to keep the kids smiling every day! Waterparks, Beaches, Theme Parks, Zoos, Karting, Water Sports, Boat Trips, Excursions, Horse Riding, Biking, Walking and Hiking, plus many of Europe’s finest golf courses are just waiting for you to enjoy!

Algarve Beaches

So many beaches, so little time! The Algarve boasts some of the best and most picturesque beaches to be found in Europe with golden sands and azure waters – from long sandy bays where you’ll always be able to find a good bit of ‘breathing space’ (yes, even in the height of summer!), to numerous secluded rocky coves that dot this spectacular and beautiful coastline. The beaches along the south here have calmer waters than the western Atlantic coast, so are perfect for families with children.

Water Sports

The Algarve is a perfect destination for anyone who loves water sports and beginners alike who can try out many water-sports. The most popular water-sports in the region are surfing, windsurfing and scuba-diving, and equipment rental and tuition can be easily found along the coastline.

For serious surfers, the West coast is a must as the Atlantic Ocean creates perfect swell. Arrifana, Bordeira and Amado are great spots and some of the best waves can be had. Beginners and inexperienced surfers might be best to go out with a surf school to start off with.

You will also find facilities for jet-skiing, inflatable rides, kite-surfing and parascending in all of the major resorts – sailing is also extremely popular in the Algarve and sailing dinghies, motor boats and yachts can be hired from ports and marinas from Portimão and Lagos.

The southern coastline is better suited to swimming, snorkeling, scuba-diving and windsurfing because the waters are calmer and warmer. You will find basic snorkeling equipment in almost any beach shop, tourist gift shop or sports shop.

The Algarve is a wonderful place to explore and the variety of excursions and trips on offer highlight the amount that there is to see and do here – after all, it isn’t just about beaches, there is so much more – jeep safaris, guided tours, quad-bike safaris, coach excursions, wine tasting events, concerts, the list is endless. Each excursion you go on will bring you a little bit closer to the real Algarve and will give you some fantastic memories to take home.

Algarve Golf

Golf on the Algarve is truly unique and an all round unforgettable experience. The year round sun and warm climate attracts many enthusiasts from Europe to play in the peak season of October to May.

There are now more than 35 golf courses on the Algarve and is established as one of the best golfing destinations in Europe. The warm climate and fantastic fairways, links and greens are to be expected, as are facilities catering to all levels of golfer. At Parque da Floresta you will find everything you need for great day.

Grotto Tours

With such a magnificent coastline of golden sands, beautiful cliffs and impressive rock formations, it’s hardly surprising there are so many boat trips on offer – choose from sightseeing trips, on board BBQs, dolphin watching, fishing trips and more.
