Rossetti, Old Town:
Studio; New to the market, a recently refurbished 2nd floor pied à terre within a few minutes stroll of historic Place Rossetti, one of the old towns most attractive squares. This little gem of a studio is located on a quiet street in a typical Niçois 18th century building and comes with air-conditioning which is rare in the old town.
Place Rossetti has a good selection of restaurants and is also home to the best ice-cream parlour in Nice, an ideal location for a relaxing few minutes by the fountain or a visit to the magnificent Sainte Reparate Cathedrale with its very attractive bell-tower, one of the most popular historic sites in the old town.
The relaxed atmosphere and eclectic mix of shops in this pedestrian quarter of Nice makes it ideal for some gentle retail therapy. Rue Droite with its many galleries is a must for all you art lovers. There are traditional Niçois restaurants, shops selling Provençal linens, olive oils, herbs, tablecloths and furniture dotted along these attractive streets.
Enjoy Cours Saleya, where the vegetable and fish markets are located or just relax on the beach: beach towels are provided. There is no need for a car this studio is a perfect base for exploring Nice and the Alpes-Maritimes region. The airport bus is very accessible from your front door as are the bus stops for Saint Paul, Vence, Cannes, Monaco and Eze. The train station is but a gentle tram ride or walk from the historic old town of Nice.
Me and my husband booked this apartment for a portion of our honeymoon in July. The place was very comfortable, and thank goodness for air conditioning as the weather during that time was quite hot! The market was a 2 minute walk, the promenade was about 5 and many great eateries wherever you go. Katherine has also provided recommendations and information for those not familiar with the city which was quite useful. I didn't have any issues with noise as we slept like babies. I definitely recommend this place for anyone that wants a central apartment in Nice. Just be aware that you do have to walk up two flights of stairs (if you're bringing luggage), but that was no problem for us.
The location is great. Easy walk almost anywhere you would want to go in Nice or access to bus and tram to take you to more distant places.
It is a small studio on the second floor that has everything you need for 1 or 2 people.
When I researched where to stay on the French Riviera I'm glad we choose Old Nice, France - and the place we stayed at could not have been in a better location. You walk outside the apartment and you're right in the middle of the square, you are less than a five minute walk to the ocean and you don't have to travel far to get to the public transportation.
Yes, it gets noisy in the early AM due to garbage pick up - but you will have that wherever you stay in Old Nice. The place is surrounded by restaurants and markets and no matter where you are, you will get some of the noise. But that is the only bad part about it, and I would go there again in a heartbeat - AND stay at this very same apartment.
It was clean, it was bright, it had a HUGE shower and the host could not have done a better job accommodating us. They truly went above and beyond to make my fiancé and I feel like we were not only guests but friends. The only thing I do suggest is to contact Katherine on how to get to the location. My fiancé and I tried to take a taxi (from the train station) and it turned out to be a mistake. #1 they overcharged us #2 they dropped us off in Nice instead of Old Nice (a good 30min walk away) The apartment is located on a very narrow road that is only accessible to small vehicles and mostly only in the morning.
The apartment has everything you are looking for - and more. They provided a sun umbrella for the beach, linens, even beach towels for our use. They even had books on where to go in town and business cards on their favorite restaurants to try - what else could you ask for! There was even privacy (even though the buildings are so close to one another) since it as in a cute little pocket corner so you truly felt like you were just looking at another building, not someone else's apartment (which was one of our fears)
Also in Old Nice itself: don't miss out on the food market in the AM and the antique market in the PM. It was what we spent most of hours doing and where we had the most fun! What else can I say, it was our favorite part of our vacation. There is nothing like it - and it was completely stress-free thanks to Katherine and the comfortability of the apartment. My suggestion: Go!
This is a well situated apartment in the old town of Nice. Church bells nearby add to the lovely ambiance. It is small and well appointed. Katherine is a extremely gracious host. She stocked the fridge with milk for my morning coffee, and some pastries and a bottle of wine as welcome treats. The couch turns into a single or pulls out to a double bed. The mattress is comfortable, and the unit has everything you might need for a comfortable stay. Bring earplugs just so the morning garbage collection doesn't awaken you. The apartment is a really good value, and Katherine is so helpful. She was afraid I'd wait with my luggage in a downpour, so when she came to collect my keys, she took me to the airport herself! So generous and thoughtful.
My husband and I stayed in this apartment for a week-long vacation on the Cote d'Azur. The apartment is situated at a prime location in the center of Old Nice (Vieux Nice). We loved being in the middle of the busy, narrow streets with plenty of restaurants, shops, and bars right outside the door. The beautiful beach was only a 5-10 minute walk away. Public transportation stops were also close by. The apartment was a cozy and practical space. It was very convenient to have the small kitchenette for a few home cooked meals. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is some city noise at night, but this was only a minor inconvenience for us and ultimately made our experience feel a bit more authentic. However, if you are a light sleeper, the old town may not be the right location for you as the old town never really seems to go to sleep. Also the apartment is on the second floor with no lift available. Not a problem for us, but something to consider if steep stairs would be a problem for you. Katherine was very professional and welcoming during all our interactions. The informative materials she provided at the apartment were very helpful. Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this rental to any pair of travelers going to the beautiful Cote d'Azur.
We have stayed in the Port area of Nice for many years, and were looking forward to moving direction to Nice Vielle Vieux. What was so wonderful about this location in Place Rosetti, was its proximity to so many cafes, bars and restaurants and the yummy Fenocchio ice cream parlour. In fact, everything you could want is only minutes away. Beautiful beach at Castel Plage on the Promenade, Designer shops, shoe stores and many more are all within walking distance. Bus station, train station, Modern Art Gallery and the well known Cour Saleya with its daily fruit and flower market, and antiques market weekly.
Staying near so many bars and restaurants, we were expecting noise, but were so agreeably surprised at how little we experienced in our studio oasis in Place Rosseti. Everything we needed was on site, from beach towels and books, to tv and wine glasses. This is a super place for a couple of any age group to stay, but there are two flights of steep steps to consider, and being an original Nicoise building, there is no lift. But if this is not a problem, we would have no hesitation in recommending a stay here.
Our studio is situated in the heart of the Old town of Nice at Place Rossetti -
restaurants, shops, museums, sea, churches - right on the door step!
Convenient for the bus to Monaco, Cannes and even the Ski Slopes (one hour by bus for 1 euro!)
Famous Flower Market less than 1 minute on foot for beautiful fruit and vegetables from local farmers based on the hills above Nice.
