The Hill House is a house with garden in 3 parts:

Cottage (95m2) + Tea House (35m2) + Espace event:

Home & garden of charm, very beautiful decoration, located at the edge of the Seine in 18 minutes of Paris: calm, comfortable, spacious and atypical, surrounded by a luxuriant nature. Close to Paris, fast and direct by car (via A15 from the Porte de Clichy) or direct train by Saint Lazare train station. A few minutes from the Paris gate, in a green setting: comfort, tranquility, style, originality ... total and surprising scenery so close to Paris.

PART 1: Lodging of 95 m2:

Can accommodate up to 8 people. Rates shown here by entering the number of people from 1 to 8. (More complete description below)

PART 2: Tea House (Japanese Tea House) 35m2:

Resolutely exotic that can accommodate 2 people in addition to the cottage. Can only be rented with the cottage (price on request and / or see below), either for groups exceeding the number of people possible in the house, or in a spirit of great comfort if you are less numerous. (More complete description below).

RATES Gîte + Tea House (PARTS 1 & 2):

To calculate the exact rate to book both: (or upon request).

Enter the total number of people planned in the lodging (from 2 to 8) at the same time as your dates, then, for the Tea House, it will take an extra charge of 90 € per night during the week, or 100 € per night in weekend, or € 540 for 1 week (7 nights). Do not hesitate to send an email for any question and / or consult the website of the house with more pictures:

PART 3: Reception area (event) to receive relatives and friends. Conditions and prices on request.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION of the house with its different parts, and its environment:

Home & garden of charm ideally located in the heart of the historical region of impressionist painters (the banks of the Seine are really very pretty), close to many prestigious cultural sites and outdoor leisure parks: Auvers-sur-Oise, Versailles, forest & castle of Saint Germain en Laye, Etangs Neuville (base of leisure) ... and many others.

See more info on the home website: thehillhouse.(En)

The Hill House: Cottage + Tea House + Space event (parts 1-2-3):

THE GITE (95 m2) can accommodate up to 8 people:

The cottage has 2 bedrooms: 1 family room for 4 people + 1 room Asian style (double bed) integrating the bathroom in open space. Kitchen area equipped with the necessary to make the meals of every day. Dining room with a large table, giving access to the wooden terrace on stilts (beautiful view of the Seine). Plus a TV lounge (adjoining the dining room and adjoining the family room), which can be transformed with a very comfortable double bed. But also an outdoor shower with hot water, in a patio very nice open. The toilets are separated.

The House of Tea (Japanese House) (35m2) can comfortably accommodate 2 people (in addition to the cottage). Higher up the hill, above the cottage. Access by an additional staircase in the garden (warning: it is not suitable for people whose walking would be reduced). This tea house of Japanese inspiration very atypical, traditional construction 100% wooden has an entrance, a large room (bed 180), a shower room with WC, a small lounge and a terrace, all offering a superb view of the Seine and its surroundings. This tea house is rented only in addition to the cottage (never alone). Very exotic atmosphere with a resolutely exotic and exceptional environment so close to Paris.

Several possible rental configurations. Adapted to needs and budgets:

If you come to many, with family or friends, of course we have more space and comfort if we live in the cottage only 4, 5 or 6 people. But by coming to 7 or 8 people you can also stay comfortably by reserving only the lodging. You then benefit from a cheap economic flat rate (appreciated by many holidaymakers who have left enthusiastic comments to read on this site and others).

HOWEVER, others prefer to rent also the Tea House (35m2), in addition to the cottage (95m2), even when they are not more than 6, 7 or 8 people (for maximum comfort).

It is according to the state of mind and the budget of each one.

The cottage and the tea house are independent (separate entrances). The tea house is not rented without lodging. For a more complete presentation with more images see his site:

C O N D I T IO N S. G E N E R A L E S:

The rental is only for people announced and validated when booking. It is not possible to receive people from outside without permission.

In all cases a deposit must be provided: variable according to the rent.

.The expenses of participation to the household, reasonable and calculated as fair are to be expected: variables according to the hiring.

Deposit and cleaning fee will be specified clearly before your final reservation or on simple request for information.

RENTAL FOR 1 ONLY NIGHT (conditions):

Reservations for 1 single night are possible when there is also rental of the reception area (rates and packages on request). On the other hand, if it is only a rental of the lodge for 1 night only, a fixed fee should be added because of the important work involved. But in compensation, arrival and departure times can be relaxed (within reasonable limits).

Part 3 of the house, event space:

Information, descriptions, rates and rental conditions are given on request. Flat rates are offered with the cottage.

ATTENTION: some types of very festive evenings with loud music, dance, alcohol ... do not correspond to the bucolic atmosphere of the house. It will not be accepted, following the bad behavior of previous tenants. The bond would be engaged if these conditions were not respected. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Warm and welcoming

  • 5 of 5

We have just spent a wondeful Christmas week in this warm and welcoming home. We felt right at home right from the start as we were greeted by Aubry, the owner, and shown around this very interesting, eclectic hide away. We were a family of 7, with three kids and two grandparents, and Aubry had made sure we were all accommodated and had even put out some Christmas decorations to add to the warm atmoshere.

Leading up to our stay we had very good, prompt communication with Aubry who happily answered all our questions and sent all relevant information for our arrival.

We loved our week staying here, going to the village in the morning to pick up something for breakfast from the local boulangerie and enjoying walks along the river. We had two days in Paris, which was very accessible on the train, although you could walk, we parked at Herblay station as we would be back quite late. We also enjoyed a day at Versailles which was well worth the visit. The location is very convenient for day trips and makes a great base for a family break. We all came away feeling like we had had a real escape, enjoying the eclectic decor and natural surroundings.

We hope to make a return visit one day and would love to see the area in the Summer next time.

Many thanks for a wonderful week.

Must Stay

  • 5 of 5

You have to stay at this property! It's fun upon entering the door. Our family of 5 spent several nights in this treehouse, a sort of nouveau Swiss Family Robinson style with interesting decor and antiquities, hide-and-go-seek lighting and comfortable greenery all around. This is a great experience for families with kids in the 8+ range. The riverfront is a very short walk and is starkly different than the busy Seine of Paris, good for a very quiet and peaceful stroll. Despite its remote village feel, it is a quick and easy 20 minute train ride to central Paris. Just as delightful as the house is the host. Aubry went out of his way to meet us at the house and show us around, and was very available for questions and suggestions.

Come prepared to walk as the house is on a steep hillside and the villages and train station are uphill. Also recommend not packing a lot of luggage, or if you do simply park on the water front (easy parking) and walk to the house rather than drive the narrow road. Herblay doesn't have a lot (La Frette sur Seine even less) but there's a small market and a great boulangerie. If you want to eat at the creperie make reservations!

This house was a highlight of a month long trip, not something I'd typically say about accommodations! We'll definitely look for an opportunity to return.

Owner's Response: Jon, Shira and their children are a really very nice family. The 3 children are so very charming. You can feel it immediately, from the first moment you meet them. And everything becomes a great pleasure to welcome them and to take steps to improve their home comfort. A big thank you to them, and welcome next time with pleasure. Sincerely. Aubry

Quaint cottage in a lovely location

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was amazing. There are so many antiquities and treasures inside. Plenty of room for our party of 7 to sleep comfortably. The small villages of Montigny and Herblay were beautiful and fascinating. Unlike America each small shop carries only one type of item, like bread or meat or flowers. Please know that there are a lot of steps to get here and make sure you have very explicit instructions. We were quite lost for a couple of hours. Luckily the neighbors were kind and when we finally found a way to contact Aubrey he found us. We made this mistake of traveling without data.... It is not a long walk to the train station but it is definitely uphill. We were glad at this point not to have a toddler or an unfit person in our group. Also - do not bring lots of luggage!! Only a backpack is our recommendation and a light one at that! This lovely home is an hour from Paris by train but if you are someone who will enjoy the small towns outside of Paris you will love it. If you have plenty of time, you will get to know the locals.

Owner's Response: Dear Viki, Thank you very much for your coming and your review. It was a pleasure to welcome you. Let me correct a detail and provide additional information for the next travelers. By train from Paris, you need around 18 mins: sometimes 20mins (direct but with 3 stop), or only 14mins if you have a direct train without stop. The name of the Station near The Hill House is LA FRETTE MONTIGNY. You have a train every 15 minutes from Paris SAINT LAZARE station. Paris Saint Lazare station is very central, nearby "galeries Lafayette" store, Opéra theater, Madeleine place (nearby Concorde place and Champs Elysées). LA FRETTE MONTIGNY is the station nearby the House: 1,2km. By foot 10 mins from the Station to the house. More from the House to the station, because the station is on the top of the hill and the house is down by the river. Up the hill is more difficult by feet (of course!). By car, only 1 minutes and you can park your car nearby the station. It's free. If you have to walk, with a roller suitcase that's perfect. I always sends all information before arrival. (Home address, public transport or by car, nearby shops ...). But if you lose or forgotten these informations, you'll can always find them on the personnal website of the house with plans. Or by finding them with the history of our discussions on HomeAway. Or latter, effectively asking the neighbors. They are always very friendly and happy to help. But if you are lost, you call me on the phone, I will always find you. Thank you again dear Viki, and see you next time with pleasure. Aubry

Beautiful, relaxing and pleasant stay!

  • 5 of 5

We really loved the Hill House. Aubrey has decorated the inside in a lovely, eclectic, cozy manner, and the exterior is just as delightful. He was a wonderful host, going to great pains to be sure we had everything we needed. The train ride is just a short distance from Paris. We hope to come again someday!!!

Owner's Response: Krista and David come from USA with your children (a lovely large family), for a very long and beautiful trip through Europe. They stayed four days at The Hill House by going to Paris every day, with great joy and enthusiasm. It was really very nice to welcome them and try to facilitate their stay and movement. They are sincerely so many stylish people with very lovely children. I hope next time with pleasure.

This apartment was absolutely perfect for our first trip to Paris. I can't say enough good things about it. The décor is so eclectic and interesting. You see new things every day. The bedrooms and living areas are comfortable and spacious and the owner has thought of everything you'd need. The water is hot (good water pressure too) and the surrounding area looks just like a French painting. It's a little bit of a walk to the metro but we're a couple of 50 year old ladies and we managed it. It's well worth the walk through the beautiful area. Once to the train/metro you can go anywhere you want in Paris. Of course if you had a car it would even be better. The little town of Herblay, nearby, has supplies and is a nice break from the tourist areas. The owner of this apartment is absolutely the perfect host. I would be honored to call him a friend. After seeing Paris for the first time, I'm set on going back and if I do, I would definitely stay at this apartment again if I'm welcome.

A bientôt j'espère...

Wonderfully situated, relaxing and a joy

  • 5 of 5

Staying at The Hill House was a wonderful experience for us all. Situated in peaceful surroundings, overlooking the Seine, the property was a visual feast inside and out - 2 lovely patio's, delightful terraces, fascinating and eclectic decor throughout creating a marvellous ambience. La Frette-sur-Seine is quiet and friendly and the local Creperie is highly recommended. We largely chose to cater for ourselves, though, and enjoyed relaxing meals in the shade of the surrounding greenery. The proprietor, Aubry, could not have been more helpful and was very happy to lend a bicycle for the duration of our stay. We will definitely be returning!
