This 8,000 sq ft plus magnificent modern estate is located on 5 acres of land with 1,000 feet of waterfront property overlooking Bayou Bonfouca and the Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge. A great luxury getaway to ultimate privacy and relaxation, the open concept and large windows that line the house allow for a full 180 degree view of the quiet bayou. Only 3 years young and new on the VRBO market, this home (with the height of a six-story building) has the newest state-of-the art appliances and equipment, as well as flat screen TVs, wifi, 36 solar panels, and security system. This mid-century modern and comfortable home starts 18 feet in the air and has an automatic elevator going from the ground level to all floors in the home.

All floors in the home are Samoan mahogany; the second floor for entertaining is open and very large. There are many places to dine, gather, or TV watch with beautiful artwork displayed throughout the home. The bayou is quiet with lots of interesting wildlife like Louisiana pelicans, egrets, rabbits, eagles, woodpeckers, turtles, geese, ducks, and more.

Each of the 5 bedrooms has their own king-sized bed with an en-suite bathroom. The master bedroom has his and her closets as well as his/her private bathrooms (one with a bidet), as well as it’s own central heating and air condition unit. The home has six different air conditioning/heating systems.

The kitchen has a quartz wall, granite countertops with a chef's pantry, butler's pantry and a large island with an adjacent screened-in porch. The porch is a perfect place to view the water and land (without getting bit by any mosquitos) while having tea or coffee in the morning, eating lunch with the family, or watching the beautiful southern Louisiana sunset in the evening.

About Erick Lewko

Chez D is what I call this private modern home; it's quiet and truly wonderful. I love to sit on the pristine white sofas and look out through the numerous large windows at the water. I was reared in New Orleans and built this home as a quick get-a-way. It's a 20-30 minute beautiful drive over Lake Pontchartrain from New Orleans. Even though the home is only a couple of years young, I have enjoyed many happy hours having dinners, parties, BBQs, and sleepovers with family and friends. The stars are clear and bright with always a beautiful breeze from the bayou. I love having an elevator because the home is 18 feet from the ground level. It makes bringing in groceries or suitcases exceptionally easy.

There are numerous large oak trees with Spanish moss on the cleared and manicured lawn. One large oak tree by the home has a swing for children. There's a wooden swing on the peninsula of the property near the water for viewing ducks, wildlife, or just enjoying being.

Close access to I-10, I-12, and I-59 allows for easy travel to the excitement of the city of New Orleans, casinos and beaches on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, explorations into the many parks and wildlife refuges in the area, or even visits to many historical sites in the area.

Fun experience. Needs to be more to do in such a big house if you’re an active group.

All in all great house. We were slightly disappointed we had to inquire about the grill and fire pit not being there but when we did they were promptly made them available to us. The 5th bedroom, top floor, was under construction and we were told just days before our vacation. While it was unavailable, it was still too late to make any other arrangements. They did set up a single bed in one of the other bedrooms though to try to help compensate.

My girls all play piano and we didn’t find out until we arrived the piano was locked and off-limits.

A suggestion would be to bring things to do if you’re an active couple or family like we are. We went to Walmart and purchased balls, sidewalk chalk, etc. and board games to play so we’d have something to do while at the house. Maybe if all adults are in your group that wouldn’t be an issue. Just felt the place was beautiful but after taking in the view there wasn’t much to do.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying with us. However, I must clarify that this booking was made with a 2 week lead time and the 4th floor bedroom was already under construction and slated to be finished prior to your arrival. Due to construction delays, the completion date was pushed back and we did compensate with a $300 discount on the rental and additional bedding accommodations added to one of the bedrooms. The fire pit and bbq are not always used by guests and for security reasons are made available upon request, as you mentioned. Regarding the piano, it is not listed as available to play by renters as it as a concert quality piano that is on display only. It is not listed in our available amenities. As far as activities go, prior to and throughout the rental we provided lists of restaurants, shopping, tours, and tourist attractions in addition to specific directions for parade watching spots for the St Patrick’s Day parade in New Orleans. We do sincerely appreciate your selecting our property for your stay, but with the exception of the construction issue of which we compensated accordingly, we are sorry to hear that you were unsatisfied with the available activities, however, we did deliver everything that is listed on the rental description, offer the contact of a New Orleans area concierge, and also provided suggestions for numerous family related events and activities in the area throughout your stay. Most importantly, we were very appreciative of the care you took of our property and are greatful that you left it in immaculate condition upon your checkout. Thank you for staying at Chez D

Beautiful House, Beautiful Area

Our family got together at Chez D for a holiday. It was a memorable stay. Personally, my favorite thing was the amount of space the house affords, we never felt crowded, and there was 12 of us. Tall walls, big open living room, the layout and decorations were all in good taste. The teenagers in our family were so impressed they were taking video as they walked upstairs and into the bedrooms. The kitchen, adjacent patio and living room were the favorite gathering places. Outside, the property is beautiful and quite relaxing to see. This is a really nice house! I would recommend to anyone visiting New Orleans, as the French Quarter is roughly 35 mins away. The property owner was great to work with, the house was ready for our arrival and we all felt looked after and welcome. Thank you Chez D, for an experience we are still talking about 3 weeks later, it made the holiday special and memorable.

Exquisite home in a peaceful setting

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Chez D. The owner goes above and beyond to ensure her guests are comfortable and well taken care of during their stay.

Our time at the Chez D came about because of a hurricane evacuation from Hurricane Irma. The owner and the property manager were extremely accommodating of our special situation and needs. The property manager was especially helpful in recommending fun events and restaurants that had a more local, rather than touristy, feel. Those facts coupled with the tranquility of the property aided in a stressful time being MUCH less so. We are so grateful to both of them for their kindness and compassion during our evacuation.

The owner keeps the home well stocked, supplying everything our family of five could have thought to need. We literally wanted for nothing while we were there. If I thought I needed it, I would find it. Laundry detergent, yes. Dishwasher detergent and dish soap, yes. Pen, yes. Camping chairs for a local outdoor concert, yes. Wine cork, of course. Doggy door!? YES! Seriously, we wanted for nothing.

While we enjoyed the beautifully decorated bedrooms, with their comfy king sized beds and fabulous duel head showers (for real, no lie, FABULOUS! Our two boys actually showered everyday without argument thanks to those things...that's what we call a miracle folks!), we found that we spent most of our time outside or on the covered porch. The property just begs you to come enjoy the outdoors. Our children enjoyed the tree swing and running around on the 5 acre property while we watched from the lounge chairs, double swing overlooking the bayou, or from the table on the porch. Our two pups were in 7th heaven chasing after our children in the fenced in yard. They aren't use to the freedom they got during our stay so they roamed and sniffed until they couldn't roam anymore. They all, children included, slept quite well as a result of the freedoms the Chez D afforded them.

I cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay here. I highly recommend this property. It is lovely both inside and out!

Our stay at Chez D was great. This home is stunning, has tons of room, and had everything we needed to enjoy a great extended weekend. There were a few restaurants nearby that we tried and loved. We'll definitely be back again!!!
